Up for auction is a 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP

This car is loaded with virtually every option available from the factory!  It comes equipped with power everything (locks, windows, driver's seat, flip-up sunroof), keyless entry with two (2) remotes, heated driver's seat, heads-up display (projects vehicle speed and other relevant information onto windshield), cruise control, ABS and traction control, dual-zone automatic climate control, trip computer/driver information center, CD player with steering wheel controls, and most importantly the 3.8 L engine with the rare supercharger option boosting the horsepower up to an impressive rating of 240!

Although no warranty is being given or implied, this car is my daily driver and currently has no known mechanical issues.  Everything appears to be functioning as it should including the A/C which is ice cold.  I've recently put four new Fuzion tires on the car and the brake pads and rotors are less than a week old, all the way around.  I've taken this car on many longer trips and it's just an extraordinarily comfortable and sporty sedan.

The most impressive thing about the car is the extremely low mileage for its age.  The odometer currently reads 69,027 although it could go up slightly by the time the auction concludes (no more then a couple hundred miles at most).

Cosmetically, this car is in great condition for its age.  It cleans up well and the paint still has a shiny gloss to it with the exception of the typical scuffs one might expect for a car of this age.  The only places these are present are up front (where every car shows signs of wear from bugs and other road debris), the driver's door, and on the top around the sunroof.  I have included close-up pictures of this area but please let me know if you would like to see them from another angle.  The interior is probably even cleaner than the outside as everything from the original floor mats to the leather seats appear to be in above average shape for its year.  The only noticeable flaws are a crack in the trim piece around the driver's door handle (a close-up is shown, easily replaceable) and a radio display screen that does not work.  However, with the heads-up display, you can still see virtually all the information that would normally be displayed on the radio with the exception of the time.  I think this car is a gem and it would be very difficult to find a Grand Prix of this generation in much better shape.  Please let me know if you would like any further clarification of the vehicle's condition before bidding.

A $500 deposit is required within 24 hours of the conclusion of the auction via Paypal.  Full payment and pick-up is expected within 7 days.  Acceptable forms of payment are cash in person upon pick-up or full Paypal payment.  If the vehicle is going to be shipped (and the buyer will not be showing up in person) and the buyer wishes not to use Paypal for full payment, a cashier's check or money order will be accepted provided it is sent in advance and given time to clear before the car will be released for pick-up.

This vehicle has a clear Ohio title which will be notarized and ready to go upon its sale.

Starting price is $2,499.00  There is a reserve.

Please do not assume anything and ask any questions you may have before submitting your bid.  I will give you a response ASAP.

Thanks for looking and good luck bidding!

GM recalls 61k more vehicles in three campaigns

Sun, 05 Oct 2014

Following a stop-delivery order for its new midsize trucks and a rash of recent recalls, General Motors is issuing three more campaigns covering 60,575 vehicles in North America with 57,182 of them in the US. As of October 1, the automaker has issued a total of 74 recalls (see the ridiculously long chart to the right) this year covering 26,495,070 units in the US.
The largest campaign covers 46,873 examples in the US of the 2008-2009 Pontiac G8 and 2011-2013 Chevrolet Caprice Police Patrol Vehicle imported from Australia. It's possible for the driver's knee to hit the key and make it move from the "Run" to "ACC" position while driving. GM says its Holden division is developing a fixed-blade key that's supposed to fix the problem by only allowing it to rotate toward the "On" position. There has been one crash caused by this fault but no injuries or fatalities.
The second recall is for 10,005 units of the 2004-2007 Cadillac CTS-V and 2006-2007 Cadillac STS-V because "the fuel pump module electrical terminal may overheat." This can cause a flange to melt and allow the pump to leak fuel. GM specifies that the remedy for the CTS-V is replacing the fuel module and fuel tank jumper harness, but it doesn't specify how the STS-V is being repaired.

Pontiac could be a phoenix rising from the ashes

Tue, Apr 18 2017

Of the deceased American car companies from the past 50 years such as Hummer, Mercury, Oldsmobile, Plymouth and Saturn, I believe the most worthy resurrection would be Pontiac. After all, it's no longer politically correct to drive an ex-military vehicle with single-digit gas mileage, nor do Millennials and Gen-Xers desire AARP-associated nameplates such as Mercury or Oldsmobile. Pontiac was originally founded in 1893 by Albert G. North and Harry G. Hamilton as the Pontiac Buggy Company, due to their location in Pontiac, Michigan. But as the early 1900s automotive revolution took off, they shifted their focus from horse-drawn carriages to motorized transportation. Taking a cue from Oakland County where they were based, they rebranded their organization as the Oakland Motor Company. Within a couple years, sales of Oakland cars were so good that it caught the attention of General Motors and they bought the company. In 1926, GM premiered the first Pontiac and its name drew inspiration from the legendary Native American War Chief, who was famous for the Battle of Bloody Run and opposition of British forces. His likeness was used in early promotional materials as well as the vehicle's emblem which was referred to simply as the "Indian Head". In 1956, the outdated emblem was replaced with a new, sleeker logo that resembled a red arrow head. It was known as "The Dart" and featured a singular star in the center which may have been a nod to Pontiac's successful Star Chief model. The 1960s saw the introduction of several popular models such as the GTO and the Firebird. The GTO was initially offered as an option package on the 1964 Tempest, and the name was the brainchild of John Delorean, who would later go on to form his own eponymous automobile company. The Firebird debuted in 1967 as a pony-car foil to Ford's award-winning Mustang. Although mechanically similar to Chevrolet's Camaro, the Firebird boasted a distinct sheetmetal nose and tail to help visually distinguish it. The 1980s were another adventurous time for Pontiac, and GM took advantage of the sales momentum by running a successful ad campaign. It proclaimed "We Build Excitement" and highlighted an arrangement with musicians Daryl Hall and John Oats. The fiery Fiero was a home-run for Pontiac and it was introduced in 1983 as an '84 model. Not only was it the first U.S. produced mid-engine sports coupe, but it also utilized lightweight, dent-resistant body panels.

GM replacing passenger airbags in over 243,000 Pontiac Vibes

Sat, Jun 20 2015

General Motors is repairing over 243,000 additional examples of the 2003-2007 Pontiac Vibe in the US and Canada to replace their Takata-supplied passenger-side airbag inflators. The company has no reports of irregular deployments in the models, though. These aren't actually newly included vehicles in the massive safety campaign. As a twin to the Toyota Matrix, the Vibe was already included in Toyota's figures, but as Pontiac-branded vehicles, GM dealers are taking care of these replacements. They have been covered as part of the Takata campaign in the past. Toyota expanded its own Takata recall to passenger-side components for 1.365 million vehicles on June 16. Earlier, General Motors also issued a campaign for 330,198 examples of the 2007 and 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD, 3500HD, GMC Sierra 2500HD, and 3500HD pickups to replace their passenger-side parts. After exposure to moisture, it's possible for these inflators to ignite too quickly in an accident and spray shrapnel at occupants. GM Statement The Vibes are included in two Toyota recall campaigns - one for high absolute humidity (HAH) areas and one for non-HAH areas. Both are considered national recalls even though only vehicles in certain HAH states and territories are in the recall. Total Pontiac Vibe passenger air bag numbers for MY 2003-2007 (U.S. and Canada only): High Absolute Humidity 89,719 Non High Absolute Humidity areas 252,685 These are the totals, which include about 99,000 previously recalled. GM knows of no field issues - irregular deployments - with these air bag inflators.
