Pontiac Grand Prix SJ

301 V8 4 Barrel

Triple Black

156091 Miles

My Mom and Dad bought this car new.

I have been the sole caretaker of it since new.

They used it for their "good car" until 1985 when I took it to college.

It has been my pleasure car since the late 80's.

I can almost count the times it was outside overnight.

Driven in very little snow for about two winters (college) in the mid 80's.

The engine or transmission have never been apart.

Through the years it has had:

a couple of tune ups

new exhaust manifold gaskets

rebuilt the original alternator

new ac compressor

new water pump

belts and hoses

shocks (one time)

front brakes (one time)

alignment (one time)

exhaust (twice) (had duals once in the 80's)

recent master cylinder

battery (many)

tires

and that's about it.

I had to have the driver seat inserts redone a few years ago in the original material.

Only paint work is the inside of the driver door jamb latch area has been spray bombed (the original paint just flaked off to the bare metal years ago. Rock chips and scratches have been touched up with a brush through the years.

Interior is near perfect as you will ever get. Dash is still soft. Plastic trim is not dried out. Fake plastic film on door panel trim has been removed though. They are just gray now and look good.

Temp gauge has a mind of it's own sometimes. It jumps around all over occasionally. Oil pressure gauge has had a quiver since new. Both are probably ground problems. Another correct complete auxiliary gauge package comes with car.

I added a correct dash tach many years ago. They used the same one for 6 and 8 cyl cars and sometimes this one switches to 6 cyl mode. So it reads high. There is a grounding bar that comes loose on the back sometimes that causes this.

It has a clarion am/fm cassette stereo with an aux input that actually sounds really good. Dash was not butchered at all. Four pioneer speakers. Adapters were used for wiring too. The original power antenna never worked correctly and has been replaced with a black fixed mast antenna.

Windshield is cracked. All other glass is perfect.

Vinyl top is weathered but acceptable.

Paint is original but has many chips and scratches and some checking but it shines very well.

There is one bit of rust on the car. It is the seam/lip on the bottom of the passenger door that has some swelling (see pic).

Rear filler panels dry rotted and were replaced with fiberglass repro ones. They were never painted and have not had the chrome trim re-installed (but it is included).

Chrome is weathered but still shines well.

My Dad backed into the passenger door handle about 20 years ago. That is the only dent to speak of on the whole car.

Tires are 8 years old and have about 5000 miles on them.

AC is ice cold.

Starts / runs / drives as good as it did when new (really).

Feel free to email, call or text any questions you have. If I am at work I will get back to you as soon as I can.

I can answer ANY question about this car since I have done ALL work (except mounting tires) that has been done on it since new.

This car has the Y99 suspension package with stiffer springs, bigger sway bars and a quick ratio steering box, among other things.

I REALLY hate to let it go but I looked and I have only driven it 2 miles in the last 2 years.

I would honestly drive this car anywhere.

I have a copy of the original title too.

One last bit.

I have told all I can remember to tell about this car and I will answer all questions.

You are bidding to BUY it. NOT to come and look at it.

No guarantees !

Even though it is a good old car, it is still a 35 year unrestored car !

There will be a non-refundable $1000 Paypal deposit within 48 hours of auction end.

Balance due in cash within 7 days upon pickup.

Hope it finds a good home.

David Hasselhoff's own KITT replica up for auction

Tue, 08 Apr 2014

Depending on when and where you grew up, the name David Hasselhoff likely conjures up images of Knight Rider, Baywatch, pop singer, or possibly a washed-up TV actor, but one thing that can never be taken away from The Hoff is his connection to one of the greatest automotive icons in pop culture. The Knight Industries Two Thousand, usually shortened to simply KITT, was the real star of Knight Rider for many fans. Based on a Pontiac Firebird Trans Am, the car combined snarky quips for comedy relief and stunts to provide much of the show's actions. Now, Julien's Auctions is selling Hasselhoff's own replica as part of a larger sale of the actor's personal memorabilia collection.
This recreation is based on a 1986 Firebird and comes with all of the tech on the inside that now seems hilariously outdated, like the yoke steering wheel and plethora of buttons. The interior also thoughtfully includes a voice box with over 4,000 sound clips from the show. With a 5.0-liter V8 and an automatic transmission, performance is likely adequate and period correct. According to the listing, this car was created by fans and given to the Hoff. Sadly, the replica doesn't convert to Super Pursuit Mode like KITT could in later seasons, and we most associate KITT with conventional front-hinged doors to go with the power t-tops and ejector seats.
Bidding currently sits $27,500 with eight bids, since starting at $15,000. Julien's predicts it will sell for between $30,000 and $50,000. If there is some nostalgia for KITT in your heart, there is still plenty of time to bid.

Burt Reynolds' personal 1977 Trans-Am from Smokey And The Bandit for sale

Fri, Dec 5 2014

Smokey and the Bandit is one of those quintessential 1970s car movies with insane premises but tons of fun. After all, the basic plot of the film is about distracting the police to transport cases of Coors beer cross country. While Burt Reynolds receives top billing, the real star is definitely his black Pontiac Trans-Am. Now, there's a chance to posses one of these muscle machines actually owned by Reynolds, and it's already proving quite popular. The car is a '77 Trans-Am with the famous, gold screaming chicken proudly on the hood. However, while this is a piece of Reynolds memorabilia, it's not really part of cinematic history. According to the listing, this example was used as a promotional vehicle and then given to Reynolds with a title showing him as a previous owner for proof. Still, there's 400-cubic-inch (6.55-liter) V8 under the hood with a 4-barrel carburetor and an automatic transmission. A plaque inside the driver's door proclaims the car as a "1977 Pontiac Trans Am Owned By Burt Reynolds," and there's a Bandit logo on the door. This is just one lot of Julien Auction's sale of Reynolds memorabilia on December 11 and 12 at The Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, NV. Bidding is already running online, and the Trans-Am is up to $130,000, as of this writing. For the true Reynolds fanatic, the auction also lists the motorized stagecoach from his wedding to Loni Anderson. It rides built on an International Harvester Scout frame with an interior reportedly from Dolly Parton.

2013 Hurst Edition Trans Am

Mon, 13 May 2013

No, you didn't read our title wrong. This is a 2013 model year Trans Am, and yes, that is a Pontiac logo affixed to the front of the car. But don't bother dialing up your local General Motors dealership just yet. This is the new Hurst Edition Trans Am created by the Trans Am Depot located in Tallahassee, FL. Having spent a number of years restoring early Trans Am models, the crew at Trans Am Depot finally did what many Pontiac enthusiasts wish GM would have done - create a modern Trans Am using the fifth-generation Chevrolet Camaro.
As the former owner of a 1977 model, I've been wanting to check out Trans Am Depot ever since I first saw the company have American Choppers build a trio of motorcycles inspired by its Pontiac remakes. So I jumped at the chance to head to Florida's capital city to visit the shop and drive its latest creation, the new Hurst Edition Trans Am. As a collaboration with Hurst, this car made its debut at the 2012 SEMA Show and then popped up again on our radar with a cheesy yet perfectly fitting video back in March.
