HELLO AND THANK YOU FOR VIEWING OUR 1964 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX 2-DOOR HARD TOP. THIS IS A FIRST GENERATION PONTIAC GRAND PRIX. IT IS IN THE LUXURY PERFORMANCE CAR CLASS. IT IS A TWO DOOR HARD TOP WITH A 389-V8. INTERIOR FEATURES BUCKET SEATS WITH AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WITH CONSOLE SHIFTER. THIS PONTIAC MAKES A VERY NICE APPEARANCE WITH A PREVIOUS REPAINT. WILL NEED SOME REPAIR ON BOTH QUARTER PANELS, AND ALSO A SCRATCH ON PASSENGER FENDER. THE FRAME AND FLOOR BOARDS ARE EXTREMELY CLEAN AND RUST FREE. THE REAR 2 BODY MOUNTS BEHIND REAR WHEELS HAVE SOME RUST STARTING BUT ARE STILL GOOD. THE REAR BUMPER NEEDS TO BE RE-CHROMED. THE DRIVERS DOOR HAS A CRACK IN THE GLASS. ENGINE COMPARTMENT IS VERY CLEAN AS IS THE ENGINE ITSELF. THIS CAR HAS A PENNSYLVANIA STATE INSPECTION GOOD UNTIL APRIL 2015. MILEAGE ON DASH READS 106733, PA TITLE READS EXEMPT. THE INTERIOR IS ALL ORIGINAL AND IN NICE SHAPE. DASH HAS CRACKS, AND EDGE OF DRIVERS SEAT SHOWS WEAR. ALL DOOR PANELS, REAR PANELS, HEADLINER, AND SEATS ARE GOOD. HAS THE ORIGINAL GAUGES WITH AN AFTERMARKET SET ON DASH FOR TEMP, VOLTS, AND OIL, THEY LOOK GOOD BUT COULD ALSO BE REMOVED. THIS PONTIAC RUNS AND DRIVES VERY GOOD. HANDLES WELL AND STOPS WELL. HAS THE DUAL EXHAUST AND ALSO SOUNDS VERY GOOD!!! THIS GRAND PRIX IS A VERY NICE EXAMPLE OF AN EARLY MUSCLE CAR!! TAKE HER TO THE SHOW OR ON A SUNDAY DRIVE. Junkyard Gem: 2007 Saturn Sky
Sat, Jun 26 2021The Pontiac Division didn't have long to live when the Solstice first appeared in 2005 as a 2006 model, and Saturn's head was inching toward the chopping block at about the same rate. Still, optimism reigned — at least, it did until the global economy fell apart — and so Saturn Dealers got a rebadged version of the Solstice to sell: the Sky. Available for just the 2007 through 2010 model years, slightly more than 34,000 Skies rolled out of showrooms before the doors were nailed shut. Here's one of those rare cars, found in a Denver-area self-service yard a few weeks ago. I've found a handful of discarded Solstices in car graveyards during the past few years, mostly with crash damage. This Sky endured a medium-hard impact in the right front corner, which sent it to this place. The 177-horsepower, 2.4-liter Ecotec still resides under the battered hood. The Sky Redline version had a turbocharged engine rated at 260 horses; we can assume that such an engine would be yanked and purchased by the first junkyard shopper that realized what it was. The base transmission in the Sky was an Aisin five-speed manual, but this car has the optional five-speed automatic. The Sky had its own nose and some different badging, but otherwise didn't differ much from the Solstice. For the South Korean market, the Sky got Daewoo G2X badges and was advertised as the ideal vehicle for high-speed chases through Seoul traffic. The same car went to Europe as the Opel GT. Sadly, GM ran out of money to make right-hand-drive Skies, so we never got to witness Holden or Vauxhall versions. Here's Bob Lutz describing the new Sky. GM recalling 8.4M cars, 8.2M related to ignition problems
Mon, 30 Jun 2014General Motors today announced a truly massive recall covering some 8.4 million vehicles in North America. Most significantly, 8.2 million examples of the affected vehicles are being called back due to "unintended ignition key rotation," though GM spokesperson Alan Adler tells Autoblog that this issue is not like the infamous Chevy Cobalt ignition switch fiasco.
For the sake of perspective, translated to US population, this total recall figure would equal a car for each resident of New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Montana, Delaware, South Dakota, Alaska, North Dakota, the District of Columbia, Vermont and Wyoming. Combined. Here's how it all breaks down:

In the early '60s, Baby Boomers born immediately after World War II were beginning to buy cars and enjoy their own distinctive music. This wasn't yet the drug culture; rather, it was the drag culture, more Jan and Dean "Dead Man's Curve" than Beatles "Lucy In The Sky." And a Baby Boomer's desired ride, more often than not, was Pontiac's GTO. Introduced as a manned-up option for Pontiac's compact Tempest, the early GTO was 389 cubic inches of romp and stomp. And with a marketing campaign that hit Middle America via what it watched and ate (TV ads and cereal-box promos were a big part of the GTO launch), there was no escaping it. Like most performance coupes and convertibles, 10 years later it was became an emasculated version of its once lusty self. And then it was gone. Its revival, championed by General Motors executive Bob Lutz, was not by any stretch the Second Coming. Starting in 2004, GM modified its Australian-built Holden Monaro to approximate the excitement of the original formula: a coupe body propelled by a big V8. But the Holden's sheetmetal was quietly styled, and even the 400 horsepower available by 2006 didn't electrify buyers. With hindsight, the resurrected GTO is enjoying more attention and, slowly but surely, increasing in value.
