2009 Pontiac G8 2 Door With El Camino Bed / St / Holden Ute / Gt / Gpx / V8 Ss on 2040-cars
Salt Lake City, Utah, United States
This is a very unique vehicle made from a Pontiac G8. It brought from NY to CA where it had been hit in rear. Only the trunk and rear quarter panels were damaged. They had to be removed to build this truck anyway. No engine, transmission, fuel tank, etc. damage. All emission control devices were retained. This truck has 2 years of Inspection and Emission certifications and very light driving. Garaged and not winter driven. I am told car was rebuilt from GM stocked parts. I have about $17,000 (about 6 pages) in receipts from the engine rebuild, transmission additions & mods, exhaust system replacement. In all cases GM or higher quality items were used right down to the oil pump. The exhaust manifolds have large catalytic converters that should never fail from quality fuel and the occasional addition of fuel system cleaners. The engine bay looks stock you have to look hard to see the laser built exhaust - it does not have a cold air intake. This engine & mechanical. work was done by the renown Sullivan GM Performance in the giant Las Vegas, Nevada, Speedway. I was planning on keeping this vehicle for myself so I went with a highly respected & experienced shop. The triple gauges on the dash are not stock, are backlit, and an example of Sullivan GM Performance's great work. An Engine Rev/Trans Shift warning light has also been added. This vehicle can not be licensed in California for emissions reasons. There may be other areas also. It is your responsibility to verify this vehicle may be street driven if that is your intention. The engine including the GM LSX block is not stock and has been moderately modified. The vehicle is very fast and is streetable but must be placed in neutral at a stop when the engine is not up to operating temperature because of the very rough idle. The engine displacement is 421 cubic inches (6.9 liter). A longer stroke (Callies forged steel crank) and a bigger bore than the 376 cu. in.(6.2 liter) GTP block. Standard compression ratio was retained and is tuned to run on 91 Octane fuel at 1500 ft. elevation and above. Equipped with an 8 quart no loss of ground clearance oil pan. 19" SLP Wheels with Yokohama D580 Tires. New Kevlar/Ceramic brakes. Low dust - safer & faster stopping. A more appropriate torque converter was installed. I do not have any ET/MPH numbers as the car has been street driven only and even then not to much excess of posted limits. A couple of items that are included in the car. The fully lined, gas sprung, locking, bed actually has more cargo space than any El Camino GM built. Full size behind the bumper spare tire with mag wheel. All new parts including engine & tires have very low miles probably not over 250 miles. If you have an important question please ask (calls or e-mails) so there will be no disappointments. Buyer is responsible for $2000.00 deposit through PayPal at close of sale. Remainder is due via wire transfer or cashier's or certified check with a local bank within 3 business days. Buyer responsible to arrange vehicle transportation. I Will help where I can. Thank you and I want you to really enjoy your new vehicle. Jeff |

GM expands ignition switch recall to over 1.3 million cars amid climbing death toll
Tue, 25 Feb 2014
588,000 Saturn Sky, Saturn Ion, Pontiac Solstice and Chevy HHR models join the 778,000 cars already being recalled.
General Motors has announced a massive expansion of a 778,000-unit recall we told you about two weeks ago, doubling not only the total number of cars affected but expanding the recall beyond Chevrolet Cobalt and Pontiac G5 models previously mentioned. The recall originally centered around ignition switches that could slip out of the "run" position if jostled or if any weight was applied to the key in the cylinder.
2013 Hurst Edition Trans Am
Mon, 13 May 2013No, you didn't read our title wrong. This is a 2013 model year Trans Am, and yes, that is a Pontiac logo affixed to the front of the car. But don't bother dialing up your local General Motors dealership just yet. This is the new Hurst Edition Trans Am created by the Trans Am Depot located in Tallahassee, FL. Having spent a number of years restoring early Trans Am models, the crew at Trans Am Depot finally did what many Pontiac enthusiasts wish GM would have done - create a modern Trans Am using the fifth-generation Chevrolet Camaro.
As the former owner of a 1977 model, I've been wanting to check out Trans Am Depot ever since I first saw the company have American Choppers build a trio of motorcycles inspired by its Pontiac remakes. So I jumped at the chance to head to Florida's capital city to visit the shop and drive its latest creation, the new Hurst Edition Trans Am. As a collaboration with Hurst, this car made its debut at the 2012 SEMA Show and then popped up again on our radar with a cheesy yet perfectly fitting video back in March.

Junkyard Gem: 1991 Pontiac Grand Am LE with Quad 4 Engine
Wed, May 9 2018GM introduced the N-Body compact platform with the Oldsmobile Calais and Pontiac Grand Am for the 1985 model year and continued building N-based cars through 1998. Most of these cars weren't interesting from an enthusiast standpoint, but a handful rolled off the assembly line with raucous DOHC Oldsmobile Quad 4 engines and manual transmissions, and those cars were plenty of fun. Here's a 1991 Grand Am with that rare setup, photographed in a self-service yard in California's Central Valley. The base engine in the 1991 Grand Am was the 110-horsepower, 2.5-liter pushrod Iron Duke, an engine that might have been fine on a Romanian tractor in 1953 but had no place on an American street car as the 21st century approached. Fortunately, GM started bolting the modern 2.3-liter DOHC Quad 4 engine into 1988 cars, and this was a proper four-cylinder. The Quad 4 ran a little rough and uncivilized, and it had its share of reliability problems, but you could rev the piss out of it and it made good power. In 1991, this engine was rated at 180 hp. That made this 2,592-pound sedan pretty quick. Unfortunately, the slushboxization of America had progressed with depressing rapidity during the 1980s, and by 1991 most Grand Am buyers — even the ones who opted for the Quad 4 — chose the automatic transmission. That didn't happen with this car, though — it boasts a rugged Getrag 5-speed instead of the happiness-amputating three-speed automatic. Yes, that's the kind of odometer reading you'd expect to see on an Accord or Maxima from this era. Someone loved this car and took care of it. Here we see an interesting mix of 1980s and 1990s car-radio technology. CD players in cars were still costly luxury items in 1991, seldom seen in affordable cars like the Grand Am, while 1980s-style slider-style EQ controls were on the way out. This Delco unit straddles both decades nicely. I seek out Quad 4-equipped cars during my junkyard travels, and I have photographed quite a few: this '89 Cutlass Calais, this '90 Cutlass Calais, this '90 Grand Am, this '91 Quad 442, this '93 Achieva SCX, and this '98 Cavalier Z24. It's a shame that Buick never put the Quad 4 in the Reatta, which was a fine car ruined by a somnolent and obsolete V6. The music in this ad is even more early-1990s than Crystal Pepsi.
