Very Nice, Clean 99 Ta, Only 29k Miles, 6 Spd, Cam, See Video Low Reserve!!! on 2040-cars
Purlear, North Carolina, United States
Up for auction is my very nice 1999 Pontiac Trans Am. I have owned this car since around 2001 and it has been garaged the whole time and is evident by its condition. By being a weekend or special occasion driven only car, it has only 29113 actual miles! I really hate to part with this car but I need the room in the garage and never get time to drive it. There probably will never be any more Firebirds built and you see very few on the road which is another reason that makes it so hard to let it go. The body style of this car is unmistakable and turns heads everywhere. The inside of the car is very clean and has gray leather seats with power driver side, the monsoon stereo system with CD player. The car is blast to drive an sounds awesome with the mods I have done. This Trans Am has not been abused and has never been on the the drag strip! The cam and mods make this car pull hard and fast. The idle sounds awesome and has one of the best sounds of any of the LS1 cams. I upgraded the valvetrain accordingly to handle the extra lift and duration of the cam. I have always ran Castrol full synthetic motor oil . Please see the video to hear this beast idle. The only negatives on this car is the rebuilt title due to the front clip being replaced. The car was repaired with attention to detail. Even the engine bay was clear coated as the factory does not do this. I also replaced the standard Tans Am hood with a lightweight fiberglass Ram Air hood which looks great! The driver and passenger air bags were not replaced but the covers are there and looks factory. I personally did not want to replace them and it saves weight as well. There are very few chips or scratches on this car since it has always been garaged. It will eventually need one headlight motor (about $100). The headlight motors are bad for stripping the gear inside them. It works but makes a noise as the light goes up or down. Look at the photos carefully as I have tried to photo any chips or scratches as well. I also photo'd the Goodyear tires which are also in good shape. I am starting the auction with a low bid and my reserve is very reasonable as I am taking in account the low miles and great condition of this car but also the previously repaired damage. Please message me with any questions you may have or if you would like any additional pictures. Here is a list of the mods:
GM Performance parts "ASA" racing camshaft
Manley valve springs

Junkyard Gem: 2006 Pontiac Solstice
Wed, Sep 4 2019The debut of the Pontiac Solstice, back in 2005 for the 2006 model year, stirred up much excitement in the automotive world. Sales were brisk at first, and then they weren't so great… and then Pontiac itself went under The General's cost-cutting axe. One thing I have learned during my junkyard travels is that even sought-after sports cars eventually reach a point at which they start showing up in the big self-service junkyards. For example, the BMW Z3 began appearing in such yards about five years ago, along with the Audi TT. While the Honda S2000 still appears to be exempt from this process, today's Junkyard Gem shows that the time has now come for the Pontiac Solstice/Saturn Sky. The first Z3s and TTs I saw in the U-Wrench-type yards were crash victims, not worth fixing, and that's the case with this Solstice. In a few more years, I'll start seeing the occasional Solstice/Sky discarded due to general worn-outness. Someone grabbed all the undented front body parts and the transmission (these items, presumably, being valuable), but no junkyard shoppers have felt like pulling the non-turbo 2.0-liter Ecotec. The interior seems dirty, probably from exposure to the elements while sitting outdoors in this Colorado Springs wrecking yard, but not in bad shape otherwise. Perhaps the car's owner celebrated a return from Iraq with the purchase of a sporty new Pontiac, 13 years ago. These cars have an enthusiastic following, so I wasn't expecting to see a junked one so soon after production ceased. I felt the same way about the Chrysler Crossfire, however, and I found two of those last year. What's next, a 2002-2005 Thunderbird? This content is hosted by a third party. Howard Stern latest in Seinfeld's passenger seat for CiCGC
Thu, 06 Feb 2014We'll be honest: the actual cars in Jerry Seinfeld's hit internet series, Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee, typically take a back seat to the celebrities in the front row. Seinfeld usually throws in a few lines about his classic wheels in the first minute or so, and then moves on to the important business of sprightly conversation and pithy one-liners. It's great.
This time around, with legendary motormouth Howard Stern riding shotgun, the 1969 Pontiac GTO Judge that might have been a co-star, gets forgotten about almost completely. Instead, Stern spends a tremendous amount of screen time extolling the virtues of his therapy sessions, attempts to dive into Seinfeld's prowess as a lover and generally makes a nuisance of himself. Pretty much to plan, then.
Scroll below to hear Howard accuse Jerry of acting like Jesus, just before declaring himself the greatest radio personality in the history of the business.
Junkyard Gem: 1989 Pontiac 6000 STE AWD
Sun, Aug 1 2021During the middle to late 1980s, General Motors made a big push to grab back some of the sales swiped by makers of European luxury machinery during the previous decade. Around the top of the prestige pyramid, there was the Turin/Hamtramck-built Cadillac Allante taking aim at the Mercedes-Benz 560SEC and the super high-tech Buick Reatta trying to seduce away BMW and Jaguar shoppers; even the Riviera offered a futuristic touchscreen computer sorely lacking in anything out of Stuttgart or Bavaria. The General had a plan to take on the smaller German sporty sedans, too, and Pontiac of the "We Build Excitement" era offered a midsize sedan packed with modern hardware at a great price: the 6000 STE. Here's one of the rarest 6000 STEs of them all, an all-wheel-drive-equipped '89 found in a Denver-area yard last week. Any 6000 STE is extremely hard to find today; when I wrote about a front-wheel-drive 1987 6000 STE back in 2018, desperate owners of these cars filled my inbox with requests — sometimes demands — for parts that continue to this day. Many of them pleaded with me to help them find an all-wheel-drive version, and now I have managed to find one at Colorado Auto & Parts in Englewood, just south of Denver (in fact, the same yard at which I shot the '87). You may recall CAP as the old-school yard whose owners built the amazing airplane-engined 1939 Plymouth pickup a few years back. The all-wheel-drive system on the 6000 STE was introduced for the 1988 model year, and it became standard equipment on the 1989 STE. At this time, the automotive industry had taken note of the success of the idiot-proof all-wheel-drive systems offered by AMC and Audi/Volkswagen; Toyota began selling Americans all-wheel-drive Camrys, Celicas, and Corollas, while Ford offered the Tempo and Topaz with optional AWD and Subaru was just beginning to make the switch from manually-selected four-wheel-drive to genuine all-wheel-drive around that time (it took a few more years for everyone to standardize on the 4WD/AWD terminology we use today, though). The 6000 STE AWD was intended to compete with such all-wheel-drive-equipped sedans as the Audi 80 ($23,610), Audi 90 ($28,840), and BMW 325iX ($30,750); its $22,599 price tag (about $50,700 in 2021 dollars) certainly made it seem like a bargain compared to those cars. In addition to the all-wheel-drive system, 1989 6000 STE owners got a digital instrument panel and more switches and buttons than the Space Shuttle.
