2002 Pontiac Slingshot

My guarantee...If this Pontiac is not exactly as described, I will return the buyers money AND even pay for return shipping! I will put this in writing upon purchase for peace of mind!

The first thing you notice is this special edition of the TransAM appears to be longer and sleeker than the stock TransAM or ANY other TransAM there is...That's because the car sports new 19 inch Michelin Sports and magnesium Alms racing wheels (instead of the stock 17's painted wheels). The car is also lowered, but there is still plenty of height to negotiate the steepest grades. All of the emblems on  the car are air-brushed (except stock Ram Air emblem on hood) and clear coated. The red side markers are NOT red...they are clear to better match the silver paint. All of the paint work is per factory and has a deep gloss finish. The flip up headlights have been replaced with fixed high intensity lights (see explanation below). In a few words, the presents as new!

As you climb in the cabin, you notice that all the GM plastic has been replaced with the finest leather seating and includes the doors. You also notice that the cheap sill plate has been replaced with polished billet aluminum full length sill plate. Your eye is drawn to the fact that EVERY cheap plastic control knob, including the shift ball has been replaced with solid aluminum billet knobs. The pedals are all aluminum with the stamped WS6 logo on each. In a few words, the cabin presents as a high end sports car!

With the car at idle, there is the characteristic American V-8 rumble, which flows through hand fabricated stainless exhaust tips with a ceramic coated interior. At full throttle the the roar turns heads...at highway speed the exhaust noise disappears. In first gear the power is immediate, but as it moves through the RPM range you would swear the engine is supercharged. A surge of power at 3000 RPM's  pins the driver even further into the seat back. This happens in all of the first 4 gears. This Supercar can reach 60 mph in first gear! The steering is simply amazing! It tracks straight and true and the progressive variable steering effort is reminiscent of a Ferrari. The slightest hand movement changes the car's direction. The steering mechanicals are SUPERB!

If you are the least bit shy about being asked questions at every fuel stop and every red light, and having cell phones pointed at you all the time, this is not the car for you! But, if you want a machine that is EXTRAORDINARY this IS the car for you! It is being offered at a fraction of the cost to build it!

Think of it this way...you are looking at and can purchase what is essentially a brand new car with over 400 HP with NO GAS GUZZLER TAX, and NO LUXURY TAX and what will be a fraction of the sales tax originally paid on this car!

This car IS NOT a WS6, it is much, much faster, handles immensely better and is more luxurious! It IS NOT a Firehawk, it is much, much faster, handles better and is far more luxurious. It is not a Carl Black Blackbird, it is much, much faster, handles better and is far more luxurious! Why would anyone buy a Carl Black Trans Am that has half of the Supercar modifications and selling for nearly double the price?

This brand new Firebird Trans AM with every factory option was transformed by Sheehan Pontiac in Florida with full factory approval, meaning the full warranty remained in place for the car. Literally, few nuts and bolts were left unturned making this last production year, the last “Of the Breed” into a true exotic Supercar. There will never be another Pontiac Trans AM Slingshot!

The goal of the transformation was fairly simple…use revised proprietary vehicle geometry, increased power output, reduced unsprung weight and reduced the drag coefficient to build a one-of-a-kind best of the best among Supercars of the era.

At over 400 HP, the Slingshot is a truly high performance car that was designed as a drag racing or circuit track vehicle, though it never has been raced. The car has resided in a private collection since its original build. It is the only Slingshot ever produced, so this is the only one in existence. The Slingshot name and logo are trademarked and reserved.

The original sticker price of a Trans AM optioned like this one was approximately $30,000 in 2002. This build added approximately another $40,000 to the sticker price at the time. The Slingshot was nearly a $70,000 Supercar in 2002.

During the years in a private collection, the Slingshot was maintained in immaculate condition, and at 1,554 original miles the car is essentially new. It can be enjoyed as a driver, preserved as an investment, or shown as a rare example of a now gone breed.

Be prepared to be stunned. This is a beautiful, extraordinarily powerful exceptional handling, rare one-of-a-kind driving machine!

All Perspective Buyers are strongly encouraged to have the Slingshot third-party inspected BEFORE offering not after you are the winning bidder.

A $500.00 deposit is required within 48 hours of a winning bid. Full payment is required within seven (7) working days.

The Slingshot is offered as is and where is.

Another Burt Reynolds Trans Am is up for auction

Wed, Jan 18 2017

Fans of Smokey and the Bandit, your car has arrived. This Saturday, January 21, Barrett-Jackson will auction a 1977 Pontiac Trans Am clone that, while not originally in the movie, was owned and signed by the Bandit himself, Burt Reynolds. Not only that, but it packs many modifications that should make this Pontiac drive the way we all imagined it did. This is a Trans Am clone, not an original. The car was built by Nebraska company Restore A Muscle Car, and started life as a lowly Firebird Formula. However, the company brought it up to Trans Am grade and beyond. Under the hood is a fuel-injected 8.2-liter V8 from Butler Performance that Restore A Muscle Car says produces 600 horsepower. Coupled to the big V8 is a Tremec five-speed manual transmission. There's even Hurst line-lock on-board, so this Trans Am should be perfect for on-demand burnouts. The car also comes with QA1 coil-over suspension, so it should corner better than the original, too. The outside looks roughly like a stock Trans Am, but it now has 18-inch wheels styled after those from the movie car, and the shaker scoop says "8.2" on each side. View 5 Photos In 2014, a 1977 Trans Am owned by Reynolds sold for a whopping $450,000. That car wasn't an actual movie car either, and lacked the modifications of this one. However, it was used as a promotional car and was given to Reynolds, so it did have some history with the film. This upgraded car is listed in the Barrett-Jackson catalog as "no reserve," so it's going home with a new owner on Saturday, regardless of price. Related Video:

Junkyard Gem: 2008 Pontiac G5 Coupe

Sun, Apr 9 2023

In the grim early days of the Great Recession, the situation at GM's Pontiac Division didn't feel so great but there was some cause for optimism. The Solstice still had a certain glow, the Holden Commodore-based G8 had just arrived, and vehicle shoppers could stride into their local Pontiac showrooms and choose from eight different models bearing the iconic arrowhead badge. Yes, there were still new Torrents and Grand Prix and Vibes for sale in 2008, and of course the Cavalier-twin Sunfire had been replaced by the Cobalt-twin G5 by that time. Here's one of those G5s, found in a Colorado Springs car graveyard. It wasn't long after this car was built that everything went to hell for Pontiac. In April of 2009, GM announced that the Pontiac Division would be "phased out" over the next few years. Just to drive home the point, GM itself filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy five weeks later. GM had already offed Oldsmobile—a marque dating back to 1897, making it nearly 30 years Pontiac's senior—five years earlier, so everybody knew there would be no reprieve in this case. Just to confuse everybody, Pontiac dealers offered a G3-badged Chevy Aveo (aka Daewoo Kalos) to sell alongside the G5 for 2009, but by 2010 there were just two new Pontiac models still standing in the United States: the G6 and the Vibe. Just over 70,000 G5s were sold in the United States during the 2007-2009 model years, making these cars fairly rare. The Cobalt/G5 ignition-switch fiasco of the mid-2010s really hammered their resale value at the time. Sometimes the definition of "Gem" refers to historical value, not the happier kind. Speaking of ignition switches, the key is still in this one. That generally means that a junkyard vehicle is a dealership trade-in or insurance total that couldn't sell at auction. This one is a base model, which listed at $15,675 (about $22,040 in 2023 dollars). The snazzier G5 GT started at $19,850 ($27,911 now) that year. The engine in this car is a 2.2-liter Ecotec four-banger rated at 148 horsepower and 152 pound-feet (the GT got a 2.4 with 171 hp/167 lb-ft). A five-speed manual was standard equipment, but the buyer of this car paid extra for the automatic. GM stuck these little "Mark of Excellence" badges on the fenders of its vehicles starting in 2005, then ditched the idea in 2009. I have vivid memories of this logo from the seatbelt buttons in my parents' 1973 Sportvan Beauville.

2020 Porsche 911 Speedster spied with an angry driver

Wed, Feb 13 2019

Porsche gave us details and showed us a concept of the 911 Speedster at the Paris Motor Show. Today, we bring you spy shots of what appears to be the production version of that concept with a few changes on board. They're rather minimal modifications, but the Speedster's driver appears especially angry with our spy photographer as he extends his middle finger directly toward the camera. Sorry, not sorry, Mr. Test Driver. Public testing of pre-production cars always comes with photo risks, and Porsches tend to attract more attention than others. You'll notice what appears to be a Cayenne Coupe prototype we've previously spotted running around with the 911. The Speedster Concept we saw in Paris had epic retro mirrors and fuel cap on the front hood, but both those design touches are absent from this pre-production car. It's tougher to see, but we lost the vents in between the two humps, as well. Everything else appears to have made it to production-spec. We can't say we're surprised these concept car features probably won't show up on the production car, but it is a tad deflating. You'll notice the Speedster is based-off the 991.2 generation of 911 and not the new 992. Porsche did a similar thing when the 997 generation was coming to an end with a Speedster model paying tribute to that car's life. The chassis is said to utilize parts from the 911 GT3, and the wonderful naturally aspirated flat-six engine gets carried over from that car, too. Porsche didn't specify if power will be exactly the same as the GT3, but we'll be expecting about 500 horsepower and a 9,000 rpm redline. We were told the six-speed manual would be offered on the Speedster in Paris, too. Let's just say that we strongly approve of that combination. Production will be limited to only 1,948 cars and begin in the first half of this year. We'll expect a reveal with a full spec breakdown soon, possibly for the upcoming Geneva Motor Show.
