Trans Am, "z" Code, T-tops, Pro Street, Built Engine, Drives Great, Fast!! on 2040-cars
Lusby, Maryland, United States
This is a beautiful 1978 t-top Trans Am, body is amazing!! Look at the pictures, all wheel well edges are still sharp and the underside is clean. Previous owner said it's the matching numbers 400 but I can't say for sure, so I've set the reserve as though it's not. I took a picture of the engine code from just under the passenger side head but I can't decode it anywhere, it looks more similar to a 455 code though, also the heads have a 5G casting on them which a quick search suggests 455 too. Whatever it is it runs strong with long tube headers and true dual exhaust, small cam, edelbrock intake, after market distributor. Automatic transmission shifts great (original shifter is in the trunk) and has a tranny cooler. Rear suspension has traction bars installed, someone was definitely building a mild pro street. Brakes are good. Lights, blinkers, wipers all work. Windshield is being replaced tomorrow, it has a crack you can't see in the pic. Heater hoses are looped back into engine so no heat right now, original AC car but no compressor anymore, radio not working but 6x9 speakers are installed in rear valance. I'll post more interior pics tomorrow, front seats are nice but not original, sorry about the garage pics but there is bad weather right now, I'll take better outdoor pics if it clears up. Paint is good. I took a quick buffer to it and shined up nice, a real buff job would make it real good. T-tops work great and don't leak, tires are great, new alternator and starter. Car is a blast to drive!! Tires are great, 205's in the front 225's in the rear. Reserve is very low!!! Before the auction ends please ask any questions you want, ask for pictures, come see it, bring a mechanic, I have nothing to hide! After the auction ends is not the time for that. Click the "shipping and payments" tab above to see what it would cost to get the Trans Am brought to you! I have tested the car and found no mechanical issues, however I will not tell you you can drive it anywhere, that's up to you. Recommend hauling. If you'd like to talk to me, send a message with your number and I'll call you. DATA PLATE: 78 2FS87 N 270908 74B A51 11L 11U 05D A31 WS4 CA1 9704?7 On Mar-17-14 at 16:13:17 PDT, seller added the following information: I've added more pictures but ebay will only let me put 24 so if you would like more send me a message with what you want to see and I'll send them to you privately. I put a picture of a little bubble starting, there are 3 or 4 of those but that is the worst. Windows go up and down smoothly, doors open and close flush (drivers door does sag a touch when you open it, but not enough to effect the opening or closing of it). Back right overhead seatbelt doesn't retract. Aftermarket Tach pictured is not hooked up. The seats in there are electric but not hooked up yet. These are things I noticed today when really trying to nit pick. |

Official USPS Muscle Cars stamps coming to a mailbox near you
Thu, 21 Feb 2013As much as our digital lives have cut down on our trips to the post office, there are still times that sending "snail mail" is necessary. With us car lovers in mind and philately in their hearts, the good folks at the United States Postal Service will introduce a new stamp design called "Muscle Cars" starting on February 22.
Designed by artist Tom Fritz, the new collection of stamps consist of five classic muscle cars: 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona, 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS, 1967 Shelby GT-500, 1966 Pontiac GTO and 1970 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda. In addition to just the stamps, the USPS is also commemorating the new series with plenty of collectable memorabilia. Previous car-related stamps include 50s Sporty Cars from 2005 and 50s Fins and Chrome from 2008.
How to turn a Pontiac Fiero into a trackday car
Fri, 17 Oct 2014Imagine hitting the track in a mid-engine, rear-wheel drive sports coupe that's affordable and has pretty good parts availability. It might sound like a pipe dream, but it's actually quite possible, if you're willing to think a little outside the box. The Pontiac Fiero is out there just waiting for a little work to turn it into a competent racing machine.
Think about it for a second. Of course, we would all like to be snaking through the curves in something exotic, but what happens when you crash or something breaks? The bills are going to mount up quickly. However, if you ball up a Fiero at the track, as long as you're not hurt, then it's not a huge tragedy.
That's basically the story of Steven Snyder in a new video from Drive starring Matt Farah. Snyder wanted to go to the track cheaply and ended up with an awesome little Fiero with a huge wing and a claimed 220 horsepower at the wheels thanks to a V6 from a Chevrolet Lumina. Check out the video to see how this pint-size Pontiac performs.
Hurst Edition Trans Am proves the Screaming Chicken will rise from the ashes
Wed, 31 Oct 2012It seems the Pontiac Trans Am steadfastly refuses to die. Ever since Chevrolet was granted a retrofied Camaro to compete with the Ford Mustang, Pontiac lovers have lamented the loss of this 1970s icon. And, looking at the Hurst Edition from Trans Am Depot, shown here at the 2012 SEMA Show, may explain what all the fuss is about.
It's not going to appeal to everyone's muscle-car tastes, but there's certainly room for a brash-and-bold black-and-gold Special Edition in many a Trans Am lover's garage. After all, if you want the keys to a custom pony car, you'll certainly get noticed in this one. If this scheme isn't your bag,, you can alternatively order your Hurst Edition in white and gold or silver and black. Oh, and don't forget a color-coordinated Screaming Chicken on the hood.
No matter which way you choose to go, your inner Burt Reynolds will appreciate the Eibach suspension kit, forged wheels with Pirelli PZero tires, functional shaker hood, fender air extractors, rear spoiler and, of course, a Hurst shifter inside. The interior is emblazoned with all manner of special touches, including a Hurst dash plate and T/A stitching on the Katzkin two-tone leather seats.
