https://post.craigslist.org/manage/4482525941 Yes, I know the car is 13 years old. Yes, I know its not a v8! Yes, I am aware the car isnt perfect. However: This is a very rare car that is no longer in production. It is in great condition minus small imperfections. It has not been modified or harassed. It has the rare GM "Sunset Orange Metallic" paint. It has factory 3:42 gears and a posi rear end, v8 steering ratio, sway bars, and a few other things found in the GM v6 "Y87 performance Package". * I have no problem keeping this car. In fact, I want to keep it, but I could use the cash. However, I will not lose my ass on the car either. I've owned the car since 2008. It hasn't let me down and I would drive it across the country in a heart beat. As you will see, I am completely open about the cars maintenance history, repair history, needed repairs, and any imperfections. 2001 Pontiac Firebird Y87 Performance Package 3.8 V6 Automatic Sunset Orange metallic Paint Black Leather T-tops upgraded subwoofers 67,000 Miles 3:42 Gears Limited Slip Differential Dual Exhaust Rustproof Undercoating black z06 wheels and tires that are less than a year old. (285 rear) I have babied this car the entire time I have owned it since 2008. The maintenance is up to date on the car: engine oil, trans oil, differential oil, fuel filter, injector cleaning, brake pads and rotors, etc Issues/problems: -font bumper road chips/scuff mark - passenger headlight motor out (manually lift headlight) - burns very little oil -rear seat belt clip is worn but works 100%. -driver seat has small tear -driver window tint is scratched - interior door panels have minor cracks -decal stripes are peeling in certain areas - rear brakes squeak - antenna motor is out (radio works fine) - radio and bezel are currently removed (I have stock and aftermarket stereo and bezels for the car) Wheels/Tires are 9.5 out of 10 (less than 2k ) Overall a very well taken care of, all original, rare sports car. Yeah it's a v6, but its still fun to drive and has plenty of power, especially with the lower gear ratio) Feel free to come look at the car or contact me with specific questions. Thank you Eddie text 708 228 1324 ( I only did this ONCE, ever! Just to show that the car has *some balls lol ) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZMQLpp38ios&google_comment_id=z135ujwjzsirij5wa04cgrcqno2vtf4be4g&google_view_type#gpluscomments more pics |

Junkyard Gem: 1987 Pontiac Safari Station Wagon
Tue, Aug 9 2016During the 1960s and 1970s, station wagons based on full-sized Detroit sedans were the default family haulers, and many of those Kingswood Estates and Country Squires and Ambassadors came with unapologetically phony woodgrain-printed exterior paneling and trim. By the late 1980s, however, few were snapping up such wagons, making this '87 Safari that I spotted in a Denver yard an interesting find. Power for this wagon came from a 307-cubic-inch Oldsmobile V8 making 140 horsepower. General Motors used this engine in Buicks, Oldsmobiles, Chevrolets, Pontiacs, and Cadillacs, finally discontinuing production for the 1990 model year. Was the "wood" convincing, even when new? Of course not, but it was a cherished American tradition. Related Video: Featured Gallery 1987 Pontiac Safari station wagon in Colorado junkyard View 18 Photos Auto News Pontiac station wagon
GM recalling 778,000 Cobalts and G5s, six deaths reported
Thu, 13 Feb 2014General Motors has announced that it will be recalling 778,562 compact cars after six people were killed in accidents, partially due to the airbags' failure to deploy. An issue with the ignition switch is causing the airbag issues, as well as causing the engine and other components to shut off without warning. The recall covers the 2005 to 2007 model year Chevrolet Cobalt and 2007 Pontiac G5. (Note that the Cobalt pictured above is a 2009 model.)
According to a report from Automotive News, a number of factors can cause the ignition to switch out of the run position, including weights on the key ring, rough or bumpy roads or other "jarring" events. Any of these situations could lead to some vehicle components not functioning properly.
There have been five fatal front-impact crashes that took the lives of six people, although as a GM spokesman noted, all five of the crashes happened off road and at high speed. In each of these cases, though, the lack of airbags wasn't the only lethal factor - alcohol and failure to wear a seat belt also played a role. Outside of the fatal accidents, there have been 17 other crashes where airbags didn't deploy. It's unclear if any of these crashes were caused by the engine shutting off.
Official USPS Muscle Cars stamps coming to a mailbox near you
Thu, 21 Feb 2013As much as our digital lives have cut down on our trips to the post office, there are still times that sending "snail mail" is necessary. With us car lovers in mind and philately in their hearts, the good folks at the United States Postal Service will introduce a new stamp design called "Muscle Cars" starting on February 22.
Designed by artist Tom Fritz, the new collection of stamps consist of five classic muscle cars: 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona, 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS, 1967 Shelby GT-500, 1966 Pontiac GTO and 1970 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda. In addition to just the stamps, the USPS is also commemorating the new series with plenty of collectable memorabilia. Previous car-related stamps include 50s Sporty Cars from 2005 and 50s Fins and Chrome from 2008.
