In 2005, I purchased my dream car (on ebay) from a mechanic in Cleveland, OH.  She is my baby.  In 2007, I had her painted metallic pink and blue with metal flake.  We went to our first car show, Trans Am Nationals, and won 2 trophies!  The Dayton Aviation Award and 2nd Place for 1982-92 Firebirds.  In 2009, I designed the custom interior and had it fabricated in pink and blue glitter vinyl.

I have Grundy Insurance and my car is insured for $21,000.  I pay about $500/year.

There are several modifications that I've had done to her: Lambo Door Kit, Camaro Seats, 1986 Steering Wheel, 1987 Hood Bird, 1988 Trans Am GTA Aftermarket Spoiler, 1996 Trans Am Wheels (painted with metal flake), and Aftermarket CD Player and Speakers.

From 2010-2013, I won 18 more awards! Many of them are 1st Place, I also have one for Best Interior and one for Best Presentation.  I was awarded Best Presentation because I dressed in pink and blue clothing to match my car.  Her name is Bubblicious, by the way.  All 20 trophies/plaques come with the car.  Bubblicious has also been in High Performance Pontiac magazine 2 times:  April 2008 and 2010 with the Trans Am Nationals coverage.  She is widely known, you'll get a lot of attention!!!

The 3.1 v6 is good if you don't want to race your car. It gets better gas mileage than the v8 engine, but feel free to rebuild the engine.

Engine Work: 2005: Brakes, Idler Arm, Shocks/Struts, Serpentine Belt, 2008: Fuel Injectors, Throttle Position Sensor, Idler Air Control Valve, Heater Control Valve, O2 Sensor, Hatch Motor, Wiper Motor, Manifold Gasket, Fuel Filter, Tune Up: Distributor Cap, Rotor, Coil, Spark Plugs and wires, 2009: Alternator, 2011:  New Cooling Fan, Thermostat, Ground Wire, Cooling Sensor, Fan Switch, 2013: New Tires, New Battery, Oil, Oil Filter and Air Filter Changed 1,500 miles ago.

Bubblicious has been my baby since I first bought her, but my life is going a different direction with no room for 2 cars.  Whomever purchases her, take good care!  Bubblicious is a great car!!

Aficionauto sits down with The Hoff and KITT

Fri, 10 Oct 2014

The latest video from The Aficionauto is the perfect palate cleanser for Knight Rider fans after finding out that Justin Bieber is the voice of KITT in an upcoming film. Host Christopher Rutkowski says that the Knight Industries Two Thousand is one of the most requested vehicles to appear on the series and for good reason - Michael Knight's Pontiac Trans-Am is among the most famous cars to ever appear on television.
While the video isn't able to showcase one of the original KITTs from the series, it does get star David Hasselhoff to drive his personal replica and talk about the lasting legacy of the show. The highlight here might be seeing The Hoff back behind the wheel in the open desert basically recreating Knight Rider's opening sequence.
With all of its flashing lights and gizmos, you can probably make the argument that KITT is pretty cheesy, and the show itself was never exactly a pillar of high-quality drama on television. Despite that, the series still provides a ton of good-natured fun, and The Hoff's continued enthusiasm for it is pretty infectious. Check out The Aficionauto video to take another ride with Knight Rider.

This Hoonigan mechanic's twin-turbo Trans Am is wonderful

What do you drive when you work on rally machines for a living? Probably a Subaru WRX, and that's what Gregg Hamilton had for a while until working on his car felt too much like his day job. So when he moved from New Zealand to the US to work for Ken Block (with a few stops along the way) he bought something entirely different. This is Gregg's 1979 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am. It's a throwback to another time, but it's anything but stock. It has that magic combination of a big V8 with a manual transmission and rear drive, just like the tin-top racers Gregg watched in his Kiwi youth. He bought it sight unseen from its previous owner in Alabama, and has been tinkering with it ever since. There's something about the flared wheel arches and the classic Firebird gold-striped black livery that has us smitten. Scope out the six-minute clip above from Petrolicious and see if you don't fall for Gregg's Pontiac as well.

Detroit City Council vetoes Autorama stunt, objects to Confederate flag

Wed, Feb 20 2019

Detroit's Autorama hot rod show will stage its 67th annual event next month, and wants to kick off with Burt Reynolds tribute. The plan is to re-create the Mulberry Bridge jump from " Smokey and the Bandit" using a movie-correct 1977 Pontiac Trans Am. But the Detroit City Council voted 7-1 to prohibit the jump. Why? Because the Trans Am's front license plate holder displays the former Georgia state flag, a portion of which is the Confederate national flag, and the city council doesn't like that. In the movie, Bo "Bandit" Darville was a Georgia driving legend, and the flag on the car was Georgia's flag at the time. Councilman Scott Benson laid out the council's position when he said that the car "still proudly flies a Confederate flag, which is a symbol of oppression, slavery, as well as home-bred American terrorism. So this body said we are not going to support that type of symbolism nor the audacity to support that type of activity in the city of Detroit." It seems part of the council's ire comes from the same event two years ago. A stunt group called the Northeast Ohio Dukes re-created a "Dukes of Hazzard" jump in 2017 using a series-correct 1969 Dodge Charger, complete with a Confederate flag on the roof. Benson said the stunt group "expressly said they would not display that [Confederate flag] symbol during the jump." Not only was it displayed, but when driver Raymond Kohn gave interviews after the jump, his driving suit featured the Stainless Banner on the collar. Seems the council has been grinding its axe in silence for two years. Now Benson accuses Autorama of "a history of supporting images and symbols of racism, oppression, and white supremacy." Autorama is certain to take place March 1-3 at Cobo Center. This year's show will have around 800 cars on display, along with a special exhibit of 17 low riders and a Batmobile built by Flint native Carl Casper. Even if the Bandit car doesn't make the jump, the Trans Am and other memorabilia from the film will be there. A spokeswoman for Autorama said, "We are continuing to work to try to resolve this with the city."
