I am selling my recently-restored 1984 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am. Car was purchased in June of 2012. It has the original 305 V8 with 190-195 compression on all cylinders. It runs strong. It also has the original 700R4 auto tranny which shifts smoothly. The car runs and drives great, and I recently had the A/C system recharged and converted to 134a refrigerant gas. I've spent more than $15k restoring the car, and this is a short list of what I've done to date...
and much, much more. When I purchased the car back in 2012 (I paid $3,000 for it), I started a builder's log on the Third Gen website, featuring more than 1000 posts and hundreds of photos with details on what I did—or had done—to the car. I think that chronicle will give you a good understanding of all the time and money I invested in this project. So, why am I selling my Trans Am? I own another T/A—a 1989 Turbo—which I would like to restore, so this one has to go, as I do not have the room to store both while I work on my '89. Since I got the '84, it has been kept garaged and it has not seen rain. I have taken excellent care of this car. Of course I hope the new owner will love it and care for it just as much. Trans Ams of this vintage are hard to find in nice condition, and this one is ready to be driven to the next car show. Items that still need attention include the fuel gauge (not working), and the power window switches sometimes stick, even though they are brand new replacement parts. Don't let this one get away. I am offering the car locally, so I reserve the right to end the auction early if I sell it to a Central Florida buyer. (I live in Orange City, between Orlando and Daytona Beach). — Auction ends this Sunday at 5 p.m. PT (8 p.m. ET) — — LOW RESERVE PRICE — Someone's going to own this car this weekend, but if you want insure you'll be that lucky person, I have set a more-than-fair Buy It Now price, which gives you the opportunity to secure the purchase of this car immediately. You won't be able to restore a 1984 Trans Am, to this level, for less money than my Buy It Now price. To give you a basic example of what went into this car and the attention to detail, I spent close to $500 just having the steering wheel, shifter, and e-brake knobs restored! I know that I am totally upside-down on this one, and—as they say—my loss is your gain. But as long as you are a 3rd generation Pontiac Trans Am lover, and you want to have a good car to enjoy for years to come, I am okay with that. Thank you for your interest! The Small Print: Please bid ONLY if you intend to buy. Buyer must submit a $1000 PayPal deposit within 24 hours of end of auction, and buyer agrees to pay any remaining balance within 7 days of the close of the auction. Payment in full and title transfer are required before buyer can take delivery of the car. Once the transaction is complete, car must be removed within 10 days after transfer is complete. Car is sold AS IS, WHERE IS, NO WARRANTY.

GM recalling another 1.3-million cars over power steering woes
Mon, 31 Mar 2014When it rains, it pours. General Motors has announced yet another major recall, covering 1.3 million units in the American market over concerns that the power steering could suddenly fail. As reported by The Detroit News' David Shepardson, GM has now recalled nearly ten times as many cars as it did all of last year.
It's important to note that should this problem arise in these cars, the steering won't fail completely, however, power steering could suddenly stop functioning. Manual steering would still be possible, but as GM says, there's an increased risk of accidents, particularly at lower speeds.
Like the ignition switch recall, this latest problem covers a wide range of vehicles from Chevrolet, Saturn and Pontiac. Normally, we'd give you the full rundown in paragraph form, but the variety of models and model years means a list is just easier. So, have a look, directly from GM's press release:
David Hasselhoff's own KITT replica up for auction
Tue, 08 Apr 2014Depending on when and where you grew up, the name David Hasselhoff likely conjures up images of Knight Rider, Baywatch, pop singer, or possibly a washed-up TV actor, but one thing that can never be taken away from The Hoff is his connection to one of the greatest automotive icons in pop culture. The Knight Industries Two Thousand, usually shortened to simply KITT, was the real star of Knight Rider for many fans. Based on a Pontiac Firebird Trans Am, the car combined snarky quips for comedy relief and stunts to provide much of the show's actions. Now, Julien's Auctions is selling Hasselhoff's own replica as part of a larger sale of the actor's personal memorabilia collection.
This recreation is based on a 1986 Firebird and comes with all of the tech on the inside that now seems hilariously outdated, like the yoke steering wheel and plethora of buttons. The interior also thoughtfully includes a voice box with over 4,000 sound clips from the show. With a 5.0-liter V8 and an automatic transmission, performance is likely adequate and period correct. According to the listing, this car was created by fans and given to the Hoff. Sadly, the replica doesn't convert to Super Pursuit Mode like KITT could in later seasons, and we most associate KITT with conventional front-hinged doors to go with the power t-tops and ejector seats.
Bidding currently sits $27,500 with eight bids, since starting at $15,000. Julien's predicts it will sell for between $30,000 and $50,000. If there is some nostalgia for KITT in your heart, there is still plenty of time to bid.
Junkyard Gem: 2001 Pontiac Bonneville SSEi
Sat, Jun 19 2021The General's Pontiac Division sold Bonnevilles from 1958 through 2005, which turned out to be well over half of the marque's existence. Named after the Bonneville Salt Flats, some Bonnevilles were huge but pretty quick, others were slow-motion land yachts, and some were nearly indistinguishable from their Buick and Oldsmobile brethren. The final generation, sold for the 2000 through 2005 model years, were among the quickest and most distinctive-looking Bonnevilles ever built, but they arrived in showrooms at a time when the clock was ticking for the division's very survival. Today's Junkyard Gem is one of those cars, an '01 with the hot-rod SSEi package. The Bonneville SSEi first appeared in the 1992 model year, just a year after the Buick Park Avenue Ultra was the first of many GM cars to get the 3.8-liter Buick V6 with an Eaton supercharger bolted on top. Production of the Bonneville SSEi continued through the 2003 model year, after which the GXP version and its Cadillac Northstar V8 took over. The 2001 version of this engine made 240 horsepower, good for plenty of torque-steery fun. Could you get this car with a manual transmission? What do you think? Some cursory research indicates that 1970 was the last model year for a three-pedal Bonneville, and even those cars must be incredibly rare. This one looks to have been in nice shape when it arrived here, with the original manuals still in the glovebox. By 2006, the Bonneville was gone; four years later, Pontiac was gone.
