For sale is my '82 Pontiac Firebird. I purchased this car as a solid body only and pulled it out of a barn. The body is EXTREMELY solid as you can see in the pictures. This was originally a V6 car but I have built it over the last 8 years into a pro-touring style car. I have well over 10 grand in this car in parts. There is over 3 grand just in the fuel injection and transmission. Reserve basically covers only the parts that would be very easy to part out and re-sell.

Engine - '89 1 piece rear main seal truck block 350 bored .040" over. Stock crank, rods, ARP bolts, KB Hyperuetectic pistons. 9.0:1 compression. Balanced assembly. LT4 HOT cam, Edelbrock Perf. RPM cylinder heads, Edelbrock Pro-Flo EFI, much more. Has between 400-450 HP. Car is FAST!

Transmission - T56 6-speed out of a 95 Camaro, Hurst Billet-Plus shifter, Centerforce dual-friction clutch

Rearend - '87 Firebird GTA 9-bolt borg-warner with posi and disc brakes, Spohn performance adjustable torque arm and trans mount with driveshaft loop

Suspension - KYB AGX adjustable shocks and struts, wonder bar, heavy duty ADCO sway bar,Summit lowering springs, all poly bushings, Lakewood lower control arms, Edelbrock adjustable panhard bar, much more.

Brakes - All 4 rotors drilled and slotted. Front SSBC brake caliper upgrade. Rear stock calipers. SS brake lines, stainless braided hoses.

Body - Paint is faded, but I liked it that way. Kind of a sleeper look. The missing grill disentigrated in my hands, easy to find to replace. The other is custom with Dodge Ram grill insert. I still have the parts to finish the Drivers side in the same fashon should you want it. There is small rust buble around parking light. Tried my best to show it in the picture.

Interior - Has the rare PMD seats with the hole in headrest that you need for any KITT replica car. Covers are descent but could be re-covered for show car look. Carpet is new, headliner, sail panels, and sun visors are new. Entire interior has been sprayed with lizard skin for sound absorbtion. No radio, was next on my list. It is wired to the back for an amplifier install.

There is a ton more to talk about on this car. It was my baby for 8 years, and I have driven it for 500 miles. I have to get rid of it becuase I do not have enough room to complete my '69 Camaro project. Hard to let this car go but has to be done. If you have any questions or want additional pictures feel free to contact me. The car is available for test drives if you are in the area. This is a great car and I take CASH or Money Orders ONLY. Shipping is at buyers expense and is up to buyer to coordinate. I am available to help your shipping contractor pick up and load the car.

Thanks for looking and good luck!

GM recalling 70k Chevy Malibus, Pontiac G6s over steering issue

Sun, Feb 15 2015

A problem with the power steering system in the Chevy Malibu and Pontiac G6 has prompted General Motors and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to issue a recall for an estimated 69,633 vehicles. The issue revolves around the electric power steering assist, which could suddenly fail and increase the risk of a crash, especially at low speeds where the power steering is most helpful. The recall affects 2006-2007 Chevy Malibu sedans and Malibu Maxx wagons (specifically those manufactured between April 1, 2006, and June 30, 2006), as well as the Pontiac G6 (which was offered as a sedan, coupe or convertible) from the same model years and manufactured from April 18, 2006, to June 30, 2006. Owners of the affected units can expect to hear from the manufacturer with instructions to bring in their vehicles to their local dealers to have the torque sensors in the power steering system replaced. RECALL Subject : Sudden Loss of Electric Power Steering , 1 INVESTIGATION(S) Report Receipt Date: FEB 04, 2015 NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V064000 Component(s): STEERING Potential Number of Units Affected: 69,633 Manufacturer: General Motors LLC SUMMARY: General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2006-2007 Chevrolet Malibu and Malibu Maxx vehicles manufactured April 1, 2006, to June 30, 2006, and 2006-2007 Pontiac G6 vehicles manufactured April 18, 2006, to June 30, 2006. In the affected vehicles, there may be a sudden loss of electric power steering (EPS) assist that could occur at any time while driving. CONSEQUENCE: If power steering assist is lost, greater driver effort would be required to steer the vehicle at low speeds, increasing the risk of a crash. REMEDY: GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the torque sensor assembly, free of charge. The manufacturer has not yet provided a notification schedule. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 or Pontiac customer service at 1-800-762-2737. GM's number for this recall is 14772. Note: This is an expansion of recall 14V-153 to cover additional vehicles built between April 1, 2006 and June 30, 2006. NOTES: Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

Woman Cleared In Fatal Car Wreck After GM Letter

Tue, Nov 25 2014

A Texas judge cleared a woman Monday for a car accident that killed her fiance in 2004, after General Motors acknowledged that her car would have been among millions being recalled for a problem that may have contributed to the death. Candice Anderson was driving a 2004 Saturn Ion when it suddenly veered off a road about 60 miles east of Dallas and slammed into a tree. Anderson, then 21, was severely injured when the car's air bags failed to deploy. Her 25-year-old fiance, Gene Erikson, who was a passenger, was killed. She later pleaded guilty to charges stemming from the wreck. But during a hearing Monday, State District Judge Teresa Drum expunged the conviction from her record, according to officials in the Van Zandt County court andAnderson's attorney, Bob Hilliard. In a letter given to the court ahead of the hearing, an attorney for the automaker confirmed that Anderson's Saturn would have been among 2.6 million GM vehicles recalled in February to address ignition switches that can slip out of the "run" position, causing the engines to stall and disabling power steering, brakes and air bags. Anderson's crash "is one in which the recall condition may have caused or contributed to the frontal air bag non-deployment in the accident," attorney Richard C. Godfrey wrote. Hilliard provided a copy of the letter to The Associated Press, and Godfrey confirmed its contents Monday. Anderson was initially charged with criminally negligent homicide because there was no clear explanation at the time why the wreck occurred, according to court documents from the case. She pleaded guilty to a letter charge in 2006, and was sentenced to five years' probation. She also was ordered to perform 260 hours of community service, pay court costs and cover the costs of Erikson's funeral. "GM knew this defect caused this death, yet instead of telling the truth watched silently as Candice was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter," Hilliard said Monday. "It took 10 years for GM to find its voice." In a separate statement issued by the company, GM said it "cooperated fully by providing technical information that was requested to make a decision in this matter." The carmaker also said the issue in Anderson's case was for local law enforcement and courts to consider. "That's why we took a neutral position on Ms. Anderson's case," the company's statement said. "It was appropriate for the court to determine the legal status of Ms.

Steve McQueen barn find: Movie Trans Am surfaces after almost 40 years

Mon, Dec 17 2018

An important Steve McQueen film car has emerged from barn storage. No, it's not yet another " Bullitt" Mustang, quite the contrary: The car in question is a 1980 Pontiac Trans Am, and it starred in McQueen's final film, " The Hunter." In the movie, McQueen plays a bounty hunter, and while in " Bullitt" he's quite the wheelman, that's not the case in this one. McQueen's character, "Papa" Thorson, is a horrible driver, and the Trans Am is far too much car for him. A chase sequence sees McQueen driving a combine harvester to catch the perps who are driving his stolen rental Pontiac, and the Trans Am ends up blown in half with dynamite, then returned to the airport on a trailer. The driver of said GMC truck and trailer combination, Harold McQueen (no relation), received the title of the first car used in filming, and for the following decades planned to fix the now-ruined car, but never got around to it. Instead, the 1,300-mile Pontiac wreck sat on a farm for nearly 40 years, until Harold decided to sell it to an enthusiast. There's studio documentation proving the car's pedigree, and stunt modifications can be seen in the Pontiac's floor and dash. While it's obviously in dreadful condition, the car remained more intact than the other stunt car the film crew blew up even more spectacularly — that car ended up as the pile of parts in the airport scene, and those bits and pieces were eventually dropped off at a junkyard after a Pontiac dealer refused them. McQueen did also drive a 1951 Chevrolet in the film, and kept that yellow convertible after filming was wrapped up. Sadly, he was diagnosed with cancer just a month later, after reportedly being in poor health during the shooting, and passed away in December 1980. The yellow Chevy stayed with his estate for some years, later getting restored and auctioned. Right now, it's not clear what the Trans Am's fate will be. The car's current owner, Calvin Riggs from Carlyle Motors in Katy, Texas, wants to know more about the Trans Am and the film shoot: His post on Hemmings includes a lot of information, but more would be useful.
