Medicine Bow, Wyoming, United States

UP FOR AUCTION : RARE! 1978 PONTIAC FORMULA 400 4-SPEED T-TOP PROJECT. THIS 'BIRD WAS HARD TO FIND, ONLY A HANDFUL MADE (YOU PONTIAC GUYS WOULD KNOW HOW MANY). IT COMES ORIGINAL WITH THE HURST 4-SPEED (REBUILT), AND ALL THE OTHER PARTS, EXCEPT ENGINE BLOCK. THE BODY IS ROUGH, AND WILL NEED ALOT OF WORK. THERE ARE RUSTOUT AREAS IN COMMON PLACES (FENDER BOTTOMS, REAR QUARTERS) PANS ARE SOLID. FIREWALL, AND DASH SOLID. THE INTERIOR IS "DRIVER QUALITY", WITH TYPICAL WEAR. THERE IS NO MOTOR. ALTHOUGH, IT CAME WITH A SMALL BLOCK CHEVY (EASY TO REPLACE). THIS CAR IS KIND OF AN ANOMOLY. WHEN INTRODUCED TO THE MARKET, IT WAS CLAIMED TO HAVE A "PONTIAC" ENGINE. THIS CAUSED QUITE A STIR AMONG PONTIAC ENTHUSIASTS. THIS AUCTION INCLUDES AN EXTRA DRIVER SIDE DOOR. IT HAS BECOME APPARENT THAT THE MARKET IS SLOW FOR A "PROJECT CAR", THUS I HAVE DECIDED TO LOWER THE PRICE. AND THE FACT THAT EVERYONE WANTS A "QUICK FLIP". THIS ONE IS WELL WORTH THE EFFORT REQUIRED TO MAKE IT A SUPER COOL MUSCLE CAR. THIS WILL BE THE LAST AND ONLY TIME I'M GONNA LIST IT. I'D JUST SOON RESTORE IT MYSELF TO SHOW ALL THE LAZY, WHINING PAINT AND BODY GUYS HOW IT'S DONE. A VERY WORTHY PROJECT. MY PLANS WERE TO DROP IN AN SBC, AND GET IT ON THE ROAD. RESTORE IT AS I GO. BUT, I AM UNABLE AT THIS TIME TO GIVE HER THE ATTENTION SHE NEEDS. MY LOSS, YOUR GAIN. $1450 . SERIOUS INQUIRIES, CALL STEVE 307.332.0383 FOR SALE LOCALLY, I RESERVE THE RIGHT TO CLOSE THE AUCTION AT ANY TIME. GOOD LUCK!! |

How to turn a Pontiac Fiero into a trackday car
Fri, 17 Oct 2014Imagine hitting the track in a mid-engine, rear-wheel drive sports coupe that's affordable and has pretty good parts availability. It might sound like a pipe dream, but it's actually quite possible, if you're willing to think a little outside the box. The Pontiac Fiero is out there just waiting for a little work to turn it into a competent racing machine.
Think about it for a second. Of course, we would all like to be snaking through the curves in something exotic, but what happens when you crash or something breaks? The bills are going to mount up quickly. However, if you ball up a Fiero at the track, as long as you're not hurt, then it's not a huge tragedy.
That's basically the story of Steven Snyder in a new video from Drive starring Matt Farah. Snyder wanted to go to the track cheaply and ended up with an awesome little Fiero with a huge wing and a claimed 220 horsepower at the wheels thanks to a V6 from a Chevrolet Lumina. Check out the video to see how this pint-size Pontiac performs.
GM's got 107 problems and NHTSA's No. 1
Thu, Mar 6 2014General Motors' problems with its recall of roughly 1.6-million vehicles continue to mount. Now that it has emerged that GM knew about the problem since at least 2004 but waited to recall vehicles until February 2014, regulators at the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration have begun a much deeper investigation. NHTSA has sent a 27-page survey to GM that includes 107 questions about the timeline of what led up to the recall, and it has until April 3 to reply. This isn't a simple, multiple-choice test. Automotive News believes that hundreds of pages could be required to answer some of the queries. NHTSA says that it is still investigating GM's response to the recall. "We are a data-driven organization, and we will take whatever action is appropriate based on where our findings lead us," said NHTSA in a statement on its website. If found liable, the automaker could face a fine as high as $35 million and even possible criminal charges, according to Bloomberg. NHTSA's questions include a detailed explanation of GM's examination process; how it will improve the process; why a planned redesign of the cars' key in 2005 wasn't implemented; and specific data on each complaint it received. According to Bloomberg, NHTSA also has records that show the company had a meeting with regulators to discuss the airbag failure in a Chevrolet Cobalt in 2007. New GM CEO Mary Barra has also hired an outside law firm to conduct an independent investigation about what happened. It will include questioning company employees who were involved with the process from the start. The recall stems from faulty ignition switches that shut off the car while driving, and if it occurs the airbags deactivate. Thirteen deaths and 23 crashes have been caused by the problem, according to Bloomberg. If you would like to peruse NHTSA's entire questionnaire for GM, it can be viewed here. Wanted: 1967 Pontiac GTO for a special Father's Day
Thu, 07 Jun 2012Jim Sharp of Elkhorn, Wisconsin needs a red 1967 Pontiac GTO to make his dad's Father's Day, possibly his last one, something extra special.
Back in the '60s, Jim's dad, Ken, drove a cherry red 1967 GTO to California for a job. He met a girl, got married and decided his wife's 1965 Ford Mustang was more fuel efficient than the Goat and the GTO was sold. As the story almost always goes, Ken has had seller's regret ever since.
Jim always meant to find a 1967 GTO and, with his dad's help, restore it. But life got in the way, time slipped by and Ken was recently diagnosed with esophageal cancer and given about three months to live.
