You are bidding on a 1977 Pontiac Trans Am. I am selling this car for my father, who is a lifetime Pontiac Enthusiast and this car has been a part of his collection for about 5-6 years. He bought the car from the family who bought it new right here in Fort Wayne, Indiana. This car is in mostly original condition. It has never been "restored. The car is in its original color combination and has been repainted once (sometime in the 1980s) and the paint job still shows very well but does had a nick and scratch here and there as it is an older paint job. Sometime after the repaint, the car got bumped in the rear bumper, which was then repainted. very minor incident with no damage underneath. That seems to have happened in the early 90s. That is the only "accident" history I know of on the car but it was very minor, but I wanted to disclose it. When new, this car was rust-proofed and it worked! there is one small spot of rust starting on the very bottom of the passenger side fender around the bolt, other than that the car is totally solid!! This is no bondo bucket like most on the market! all original sheetmetal! The interior of the car is in fantastic shape. We installed new carpet and door sills when we purchased the car. The dash, seats and all other interior components are original and in fantastic shape. It has the original AM/FM radio that still works great it also has a WORKING 8-track tape player (eastbound and down tape not included). The AC and heat all work as they should. The car had an after market cruise control added to the car when it was new and it still works!!! When we bought the car we installed completely new braking system including full front and rear brakes and all new brake lines and master cylinder. The car had a brand new exhaust installed about 8 years ago. The engine compartment has not been restored and does show its age (see picture) but it all works as it should and the car runs and drives great and it is a blast to drive! 93000 original mileage. That is all I can think of on the car right now but please feel free to message me and ask any questions. We can also arrange to see the car in person if youd like and I encourage you to do so. The car is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end this auction at any time. A $500 NONREFUNDABLE deposit is due via paypal within 48 hours of the auction end and the car needs to be picked up in a reasonable amount of time after the auction. Buyer is responsible to arrange shipping for this vehicle. Overall this car runs, drives and shows great. Turns head going down the road and is really fun to drive. We have had a lot of fun with this car and taken it to many shows, including the Trans Am Nationals. So it still shows well. It is hard for us to part with this car but it is time anther enthusiast enjoys it. More pictures are available upon request. As I said, feel free to ask me any questions, good luck and happy bidding!!

Baseball team to dress like Trans Am, complete with screaming chicken
Fri, Feb 8 2019Come to think of it, the Screaming Chicken actually sounds like the name of a minor league baseball team. Well, it isn't, but the famous logo of the same name that graced the hood of the 1970s Pontiac Trans Am will at least be making it to a baseball uniform this summer. The Lansing Lugnuts, a Single-A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays, will be rocking these special uniforms to honor the late Burt Reynolds and his film Smokey and the Bandit. By default, it will also be honoring the car the movie made famous: the 1977 Trans Am painted black with gold trim and, of course, the screaming chicken on the hood. This is a pretty good history of the emblem. So why the Lugnuts and Burt Reynolds? Although he claimed to be born in Georgia for much of his career, he admitted in a 2015 autobiography that he was in fact born in Lansing, Mich. After a few years, his family settled in Florida. Not exactly hometown hero stuff, but minor league baseball promotions have been made of more tenuous connections. The Burt Reynolds tribute night will be July 20, and if you want to get a screaming chicken jersey for yourself (I mean, wouldn't they be perfect for a cars and coffee?), the game-used jerseys will be auctioned off for charity after the game.
'We're not a hedge fund': Porsche plans to curtail speculators and flippers
Tue, May 30 2017A sizable number of speculators view cars as an investment. Rare or unusual models are quickly snapped up and either parked for years or flipped for a profit. Cars from automakers like Porsche and Ferrari are more prone than others, and at least some people behind these models are getting a bit tired of it. While it's difficult to police what goes on after you sell a car, Porsche has some plans that might curtail the problem before it starts. Andreas Preuninger, the head of GT road-car development and the man behind the new 911 GT3, spoke to Car and Driver at a recent event. "I personally like to see my cars being used," he said. "That's what we build them for. They are just too good to be left to stand and collect dust." One recent example of this rampant speculation is the 911 R. While the special manual-only model sold for $185,950 when new, used versions were selling for nearly $1.3 million just months after it went on sale. While the car is a masterpiece and an instant classic, a good number will be parked and simply used as art and not the rolling testaments to the man/machine interface they were intended to be. The concern over valuations has become so fierce that some owners are upset that Porsche is offering the new 911 GT3 with a manual transmission, fearing that it may hurt the value of the 911 R. "When I said we're not a hedge fund, I'm talking to those people who are yelling at us for offering the manual transmission similar to the R," Preuninger said. "But if there are people wanting to buy cars like that, then as a company we should try to fulfill that, to meet that demand." It seems Porsche is keeping a close eye on who is flipping cars. Since there is often far more demand than supply with certain models, the German automaker has a name for every car before it's built. Buyers with bad reputations might not even make the wait list. Aficionauto sits down with The Hoff and KITT
Fri, 10 Oct 2014The latest video from The Aficionauto is the perfect palate cleanser for Knight Rider fans after finding out that Justin Bieber is the voice of KITT in an upcoming film. Host Christopher Rutkowski says that the Knight Industries Two Thousand is one of the most requested vehicles to appear on the series and for good reason - Michael Knight's Pontiac Trans-Am is among the most famous cars to ever appear on television.
While the video isn't able to showcase one of the original KITTs from the series, it does get star David Hasselhoff to drive his personal replica and talk about the lasting legacy of the show. The highlight here might be seeing The Hoff back behind the wheel in the open desert basically recreating Knight Rider's opening sequence.
With all of its flashing lights and gizmos, you can probably make the argument that KITT is pretty cheesy, and the show itself was never exactly a pillar of high-quality drama on television. Despite that, the series still provides a ton of good-natured fun, and The Hoff's continued enthusiasm for it is pretty infectious. Check out The Aficionauto video to take another ride with Knight Rider.
