ONE CENT ABOVE STARTING BID GETS THIS CAR!
i've already covered a lot of this.  this is a 1969 pontiac 350 that was cloned to a t/a in 2004 from what i can tell from the folder of information that came with it.
it came to me with a bad motor and it took me months to find a good pontiac engine.  i ended up with a 71 350 with 94 heads that have been milled at least once.  it has a very close to stock cam, the crank is .010 under, the bores are .040 over, edelbrock performer intake, a holley 670 street performer carb, true dual exhaust.  turbo 400 transmission, dakota digital dash that is set for 293 gears but someone has put 373 gears in the rear end.  i'm told the dash can be re-calibrated by pushing a few buttons but i just keep with the flow of traffic.  i had a new center link put in and according to some of the receipts from year one there are some upgraded parts in the suspension.  you can take your hands off the wheel and it goes straight down the road like it should.  all the glass is good, the gaskets and chrome are good. there are no big issues, pump the pedal twice and turn the key.  the paint is 10 years old and shows a few small blemishes once you get up close, the back carpet is a little faded, and those filler panels need to be covered.  unless you are picking the car apart none of that will really stand out.  the pans and tank appear to have been replaced back in 04, the guy that installed the amp and speakers was impressed by that.  this is not some old beater that needs 25k thrown at it, this is a solid driver quality classic.  i will consider certain trades or partial trades.  i need a farm truck (really a flatbed) but it needs to be in similar condition (I shouldn't need to worry about getting in it and driving anywhere).  ask questions before bidding if you need to.  if the 500 dollar PAYPAL OR CASH ONLY deposti isn't received with 24 hours i will cancel the sale (i'm not giving up my banking info).  if you have less than 10 feedback or any negative feedback contact me before bidding.  buyer is responsible for shipping and full payment needs to be made within 5 days of the close unless we have agreed to other terms. thanks, and good luck!

GM recalling 8.4M cars, 8.2M related to ignition problems

Mon, 30 Jun 2014

General Motors today announced a truly massive recall covering some 8.4 million vehicles in North America. Most significantly, 8.2 million examples of the affected vehicles are being called back due to "unintended ignition key rotation," though GM spokesperson Alan Adler tells Autoblog that this issue is not like the infamous Chevy Cobalt ignition switch fiasco.
For the sake of perspective, translated to US population, this total recall figure would equal a car for each resident of New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Montana, Delaware, South Dakota, Alaska, North Dakota, the District of Columbia, Vermont and Wyoming. Combined. Here's how it all breaks down:
7,610,862 vehicles in North America being recalled for unintended ignition key rotation. 6,805,679 are in the United States.

Best and Worst GM Cars

Thu, Apr 7 2022

Oh yes, because we just love receiving angry letters from devoted Pontiac Grand Am enthusiasts, we have decided to go there. Based on a heated group Slack conversation, the topic came up about the best and worst GM cars. First of all time, and then those currently on sale, and then just mostly a rambling discussion of Oldsmobiles our parents and grandparents owned (or engineered). Eventually, three of us made the video above. Like it? Maybe we can make more. Many awesome GM cars are definitely going unmentioned here, so please let us know your bests and worsts in the comments below. Mostly, it's important to note that this post largely exists as a vehicle for delivering the above video that dives far deeper into GM's greatest hits and biggest flops, specifically those from the 1980s and 1990s. What you'll find below is a collection of our editors identifying a best current and best-of-all-time choice, plus a worst current and worst-of-all-time choice. Comprehensive it is not, but again, comments. -Senior Editor James Riswick Best Current GM Vehicle Chevrolet Corvette We were flying by the seats of our pants a bit in this first outing and my notes were similarly extemporaneous. When it came time to tie it all together on camera, I failed spectacularly. Thank the maker for text, because this gives me the opportunity to perhaps slightly better explain my convoluted reasoning. I chose the C8 Corvette because it's simply overwhelmingly good, and it's merely the baseline from which this generation of Corvette will be expanded.  While the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing (more on that in a minute) is an amazing snapshot of GM's current performance standing and its little sibling so enraptured me that I went out and bought one, their existence is fleeting. Corvette will live on; forced-induction Cadillac sport sedans, not so much. So while all three are amazing machines when viewed in a vacuum, the Corvette stands above them as both a reflection of GM's current performance credentials and a signpost of what is to come. So, given the choice between the C8 and the 5V-Blackwing right now, I'd choose the C8. In 10 years, when the Blackwing is no longer in production and Corvette is in its 9th generation? Well, that might be a different story. Now, just pretend I said something even remotely that coherent when we get to the part of the video where I try to make an argument for the 5-V Blackwing as best GM car I've ever driven. Or just laugh at me while I ramble incoherently.

Junkyard Gem: 1991 Pontiac 6000 LE

Sat, Dec 2 2017

Sibling to the Chevrolet Celebrity and Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera, the Pontiac 6000 sold pretty well during the early-to-middle 1980s, but had been relegated to the dealership bargain bin and fleet-car cul-de-sac by the time of Operation Desert Shield. Here's a final-year-of-manufacture 6000 LE that I photographed in an Arizona self-service wrecking yard. This car was sold new in Arizona, and it will be crushed in the same state, 26 years later. The LE was the cheapest trim level for the 6000 in 1991, but the original purchaser of this car sprang for a few options. For example, instead of the utterly miserable 2.5-liter Iron Duke four-cylinder, this car packs the 3.1-liter V6. That meant 140 horsepower instead of 110, plus an engine note more like a vacuum cleaner sucking up a spaghetti spill than an ailing blender chewing on walnuts. AM, FM, and cassette. Not only that, but the auto-reverse feature meant that your mixtape cassette wouldn't stop right in the middle of your favorite Roxette tune. This content is hosted by a third party. Even the wretched Daewoo-built Pontiac LeMans gets more screen time than the forgotten 6000 in this 1991 TV ad featuring the voice of Captain Picard.
