I am selling a 1968 firebird 350 convertible! it still starts runs/drives good!!  There were not very many made and probably not many left!!  As you can see in the pictures it is pretty original.  The interior looks nice and very original.  It looks stock to me except for the chrome valve cover gaskets, air filter, and radio. The last oil change was at 52901. Do not assume anything.  Any concerns please have it inspected before biding or buying. I welcome local inspection of the car! I have the car for sale local and I reserve the right to end this auction at any time due to a local sale.  As far as I understand it has had two basic owners, with the first one selling it in 1999. This has been garage kept and been driven only a couple hundred miles a year since 1999.  It could use minor body work and a repaint in my opinion.  It had the floor plan replaced with new carpet, and the fuel GM fuel Meter and lines.  It was last tuned up in 2011.  This car does come with records.  The tires are still good but probable over 20 years old.

Just to get a idea what it would cost to redue.  I went to a very good body shop that did $8000 worth of work on my BMW when I got rear ended.  He gave me a quote of $3500 for a complete repaint and all the body work.  The majority of body work was on the sides.  I went online to the below website, and the prices look pretty good to me, so I think you could save a lot on body work by replacing some of the panals that go from $30 to $300 per panal if I am correct.  These are just my thoughts, no implied or expressed warranties.  I hope this answers a lot of your questions regarding bodywork and paint.

On May-31-14 at 17:34:59 PDT, seller added the following information:

At 52087 miles the headers were replaced.  In 2011 the brake lines were replaced.  In 2012 a new radio was installed.  At 52901 in 2011 the car had a complete tune up includingplugs, points, condenerser, wires, cap, roter  New power steering gear box and pitman arm..  In 2005 new carpet, and in 2003 new floor pans, front and rear spring mounts and shackels, inner rocker rails and frame connectors.  I sold this car to a body shop in Oakland 2 days ago for $11500.  He did not read the payment terms.  If you want to pay by check, funds need to clear before I will release the car.  I feel standard ebay selling policy.  Thanks!

Airbag recall adds 85k Pontiac Vibes to tally

Fri, 13 Jun 2014

The repairs needed for the faulty airbag inflators supplied by Takata continue to expand. Toyota initially announced a recall of 766,300 vehicles equipped with the bad part on June 11 as a followup to a campaign from 2013. Soon after, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration opened a preliminary evaluation into five automakers who also used the component in their models. Now, NHTSA has released the official announcement of the latest Toyota recall listing 844,277 affected cars, including the newly added 2003-2004 Pontiac Vibe.
While NHTSA's document didn't include a model-by-model breakdown, General Motors spokesperson Alan Adler estimated to Autoblog that roughly 85,000 Vibes in the US would be covered under the latest recall. Like the rest of the affected models, the airbag inflator could rupture in a crash causing the bag not to work correctly, possibly spraying metal fragments at the occupant.
Toyota spokesperson Cindy Knight told Autoblog that the reason for the disparity between the earlier press release and NHTSA document was that Toyota was continuing to comb through VINs to create a list of affected vehicles. The original number was an estimate of that process at the time. Scroll down to the recall report from NHTSA.

Lutz says Washington killed Pontiac, next G6 was to be ATS derivative

Tue, 29 Oct 2013

How many people think Buick or GMC should have gotten the axe instead of Pontiac? You can't see it, but I'm raising my hand. Autoweek reports that former Vice Chairman of GM, Bob Lutz, has indicated that things didn't have to end up the way they did.
"The Feds said, 'Yeah, how much money have you made on Pontiac in the last 10 years?' and the answer was, 'Nothing.'"
In a talk given at the Petersen Automotive Museum for the Inside the MotoMan Studio series, Lutz says "The Feds said, 'Yeah, how much money have you made on Pontiac in the last 10 years?' and the answer was, 'Nothing.' So, it goes. And when the guy who is handing you the check for $53 billion says, 'I don't want Pontiac, drop Pontiac or you don't get the money,' it doesn't take you very long to make up your mind." Lutz even added that the next-generation Pontiac G6 would have benefitted from the rear-wheel-drive platform of the Cadillac ATS. How awesome would that have been?

Junkyard Gem: 2000 Pontiac Sunfire coupe

Thu, Feb 21 2019

In a few months, we'll reach the tenth anniversary of GM's axing of the venerable Pontiac brand. G6s, Vibes, and Matizes continued to be built until 2010, but I'm noticing a marked decrease in discarded Pontiacs lately, as I perform my junkyardy rituals. Here's a 2000 Pontiac Sunfire, photographed in a Colorado wrecking yard. The Sunfire was the near-identical sibling to the Chevrolet Cavalier, based on the long-running (1982-2005) J-Body platform. It was cheap and simple, looked pretty sporty (at least in coupe form), and every parts store in North America carried just about everything you'd need to keep one running. This coupe had to compete for sales not only with a vast and menacing array of imports but with GM's own Saturn SC2 (not to mention the Cavalier itself). Meanwhile, the J platform was showing its age more with each passing year. This car sports what must have been the complete line of Fatal Clothing bomber-nose-art/skate-punk/gang-tag-influenced decals, circa 2010. I actually photographed this car back in 2011, then misplaced the image files until last week. The stickers are very California-centric for a Colorado car, but then plenty of Californians — including me— move here. When you know you're a car's final owner, it's a lot easier to whip out the paint pens and redecorate the interior. Power came from the engine GM developed for the very first J-Bodies: the 2.2-liter 122 pushrod four-cylinder. 2002 was the last model year for 122-powered Sunfires and Cavaliers; the most affordable S-10/Sonoma/Hombre trucks got this engine through 2003.
