Complete car.  4.1 liter overhead cam 250 CI.  This is the base 1bbl engine, not the sprint.  Engine pulled from car at this time, but is all there.  Quotes on rebuild in my area came in at $3200.  original aqua both in and out which I love.  Options on this base model are the deluxe steering wheel and center counsel.  Rims in the pictures do not come with this car. but it does come with a set of american racing rims with good tires in great shape.  Car is complete.  Needs need new floor pans  (I have, but they are not installed).  Brakes are good.  Rear air shocks are good.  Comes with rebuilt transmission.  Body is very good for the year.  hood was pulled to pull engine but is there and matches as well.  Interior is all there, with normal cracks in the dash and a split in the drivers seat and a couple holes in the headliner, no carpet  (pulled by last owner to replace floorboards). See pictures. Great car for restore.  I purchased from a friend but already have another 68.  Has been stored inside since 1984. I have clear title from and bill of sale from person I purchased from.

Call with questions at 574 524 5949.

Thanks,

Greg

ADDITIONAL DESCRIPTION/INFORMATION:  In response to some of the questions I have gotten concerning the condition of the Firebird:  The engine is out of the car and disassembled down to the long block (see initial picture).  The head is also disassembled and the machine work and valve guides installed  (by a machine shop not by me).  It is a complete engine, but some assembly is required.  The driver's side rear quarter had some body work done to it, see new picture.  It looks solid but you can see by the center line that it was done. The rest of the car looks very straight to me though.   The picture of the floor board initially put in the ad is for passenger side.  The drivers side front floor was cut to put in the new front floor pan and the new picture is of that floor pan which is not welded in at this time.  Also the battery tray is in rough shape (which I have been told is common in these cars).

Last, As I said in the initial ad I have the title and bill of sale from the person I bought this from.  The title is filled out with my name as purchaser.  I can either hand you the title and bill of sale and create a new bill of sale or I can retitle the car here in Indiana and hand over the new title and a bill of sale (I will pay for retitle in Indiana).  Whatever works for the buyer.  I just want to see the car redone after sitting for almost 30 years.

Thanks,

Greg

Jay Leno tries out a 1970 Pontiac GTO Judge that looks factory fresh

Tue, Jan 31 2017

The latest machine to show up on Jay Leno's Garage is arguably the most iconic Pontiac GTO, the 1970 Judge. The example here is a radically red model and features all of the nifty Judge features, such as the mega-size rear wing, hood-mounted tachometer, and ram air hood scoop. The latter of which had a panel in the hood that would open up at full throttle to let in all that cool air from outside. The car is owned by the Wade Kawasaki, president of Coker Tires, a company that specializes in reproducing classic tires. Not surprisingly, his GTO features a set of the company's Firestone Wide Oval tires. That particular tire would have come with the car originally, but these new versions are built like modern radial tires, rather than the slippery bias-ply originals. The tires are indicative of how Kawasaki restored the rest of his Judge. Everything has been taken back to factory-spec. It has a stock, 400-cubic inch V8 that makes a supposedly underrated 366 horsepower, and it's complete with the chrome valve covers and foam intake seal. The tires are accompanied by exact replica GTO Judge wheels. The car even has the true, original interior. Somehow, the upholstery, dash, and other interior components survived in excellent condition. Check out the video above for more details on this flashy muscle car, as well as some reminiscing about the "good ol' days," and some history on the origins of the car's name. Related Video:

2020 Porsche 911 Speedster spied with an angry driver

Wed, Feb 13 2019

Porsche gave us details and showed us a concept of the 911 Speedster at the Paris Motor Show. Today, we bring you spy shots of what appears to be the production version of that concept with a few changes on board. They're rather minimal modifications, but the Speedster's driver appears especially angry with our spy photographer as he extends his middle finger directly toward the camera. Sorry, not sorry, Mr. Test Driver. Public testing of pre-production cars always comes with photo risks, and Porsches tend to attract more attention than others. You'll notice what appears to be a Cayenne Coupe prototype we've previously spotted running around with the 911. The Speedster Concept we saw in Paris had epic retro mirrors and fuel cap on the front hood, but both those design touches are absent from this pre-production car. It's tougher to see, but we lost the vents in between the two humps, as well. Everything else appears to have made it to production-spec. We can't say we're surprised these concept car features probably won't show up on the production car, but it is a tad deflating. You'll notice the Speedster is based-off the 991.2 generation of 911 and not the new 992. Porsche did a similar thing when the 997 generation was coming to an end with a Speedster model paying tribute to that car's life. The chassis is said to utilize parts from the 911 GT3, and the wonderful naturally aspirated flat-six engine gets carried over from that car, too. Porsche didn't specify if power will be exactly the same as the GT3, but we'll be expecting about 500 horsepower and a 9,000 rpm redline. We were told the six-speed manual would be offered on the Speedster in Paris, too. Let's just say that we strongly approve of that combination. Production will be limited to only 1,948 cars and begin in the first half of this year. We'll expect a reveal with a full spec breakdown soon, possibly for the upcoming Geneva Motor Show. The U-2 spy plane needs high-performance cars to help land

Thu, Oct 15 2015

Typically, aircraft deploy their landing gear from three main points. Most military aircraft, for example, deploy two gears at the back and one forward, like a tricycle. Some civilian aircraft flip the layout, with two in front and one in back - tail-draggers. The U-2 Dragon Lady is wildly different than any of these. With a 103-foot wingspan but a body that's just 63-feet long, the layout of the U-2 makes a traditional landing setup infeasible. Instead, the U-2 utilizes a pair of wheels, one up front and one in back. With such a bizarre layout, landings are so tough that since the U-2's earliest flights at Area 51, the US Air Force has used high-performance chase cars to guide the pilot down safely. The landing process isn't over there, though. As this video from Sploid shows, balancing out the aircraft to fit the detachable "pogos" – think training wheels for spy planes – is a comical procedure requiring a number of airman using their full body weight to even out the U-2. This video also recaps some of the great vehicles that have served as chase vehicles for this legendary spy plane. They include Chevrolet El Caminos, and the Fox-body Ford Mustangs so favored by the California Highway Patrol. For the last several years, the USAF has utilized products from General Motors, using fourth-generation Chevy Camaros, before switching over to the Pontiac GTO and most recently, the awesome Pontiac G8. It's fair to say that if you're a gearhead in the Air Force, this is the job you want. Check out the video, embedded up top.
