Here is a super Rare 1967 Firebird HO convertible. Pontiac got into the Pony car race late in 1967, with its offering the Firebird. These cars came with 3 V-8 options, the standard 326, which came with lower compression ratio and 2 barrel carburetor, the 400, and then the 326 HO, which featured 10:5:1 compression, 4 barrel carburetor, and dual traction bars. There were only 6078 HO's built in 1967, and only around 1000 convertibles, making this a super rare option for the firebird. This car is in super nice shape, but is not perfect. If you are looking for a trailer queen, this is not your car. This car is in great shape shape for being 46 years old. Car was originally burgandy, but was repainted Tyrol Blue. I purchased this car about 7 years ago, and finished it. This car is a correct numbers matching car. I say correct numbers, because the motor was replaced under warranty, in 1967 by Pontiac. All engine casting numbers are correct and all correct date coding. Block is stamped S.R. for service replacement. Motor was replaced with a long block. The engine still maintains its original 141 casting on the Heads, original intake, original carter AFB 4243S, original Distributor, original style long branch exhaust manifolds, and original air cleaner. Car has original 3 speed manual transmission. Manual ivory convertible top. Deluxe Parchment interior. Interior was replaced about 4 years ago, and some dummy (Me) sat down in the drivers seat with a screw driver in my back pocket, and put a small hole in it. Dash Pad is original to the car, and does have two cracks in the top. Complete PHS (Pontiac Historical Society) documentation. Since I have owned the car, I have pulled the engine, and completely resealed it. I installed new timing chain, oil pump, water pump, and radiator. Carburetor was completely rebuilt by Classic carburetors out of Eden, NC. Transmission was completely resealed. New tires, new brakes, and new master cylinder. New clutch. Engine and front lighting harness' were also replaced. Convertible top was replaced about 4 years ago, and show some light dirt stains, from being outside some. Nice original pontiac ralley II Wheels with original style lug nuts. New aluminized factory style exhaust. Dual traction bars (factory). Car will need door glass adjusted some more. There are also some scratches on the drivers side door glass, where the glass had rubbed on something inside the door previously. There are also two dents on the passenger side door, toward the bottom, that should be able to be removed with out body work. This car turns heads wherever I go. Don''t miss out on your opportunity to own this piece of classic Pontiac history.

Watch this garbage truck consume a Pontiac Grand Am
Wed, 15 May 2013When an old car or truck offers its dying breath in your driveway and you just don't have the financial or mechanical wherewithal to resuscitate it yet again, you traditionally have to go to the trouble of calling a flatbed or a tow truck to come haul it away. That usually helps to put a few bucks in your wallet and helps recycle some of the vehicle's parts, but the transaction doesn't seem as final or perversely satisfying as the dispatch service that this New Way Cobra Magnum garbage truck offers.
Okay, okay, so this refuse hauler isn't actually designed for this sort of thing, but it's oddly comforting to know that a sanitation truck can compact a hapless Pontiac Grand Am into oblivion. Next time, we won't feel so guilty about slipping that rusty charcoal grille onto the curb next to the cans on garbage day. Watch the carnage by scrolling below.
How to turn a Pontiac Fiero into a trackday car
Fri, 17 Oct 2014Imagine hitting the track in a mid-engine, rear-wheel drive sports coupe that's affordable and has pretty good parts availability. It might sound like a pipe dream, but it's actually quite possible, if you're willing to think a little outside the box. The Pontiac Fiero is out there just waiting for a little work to turn it into a competent racing machine.
Think about it for a second. Of course, we would all like to be snaking through the curves in something exotic, but what happens when you crash or something breaks? The bills are going to mount up quickly. However, if you ball up a Fiero at the track, as long as you're not hurt, then it's not a huge tragedy.
That's basically the story of Steven Snyder in a new video from Drive starring Matt Farah. Snyder wanted to go to the track cheaply and ended up with an awesome little Fiero with a huge wing and a claimed 220 horsepower at the wheels thanks to a V6 from a Chevrolet Lumina. Check out the video to see how this pint-size Pontiac performs.
The prized golden 1965 Pontiac Hurst GeeTO Tiger is headed to auction
Sat, Apr 4 2020Once upon a time, a Pontiac advertising executive named Jim Wangers created a countrywide contest with this gorgeous 1965 Pontiac Hurst GTO serving as the grand prize. The contest was centered around "GeeTO Tiger," a song by musical artists The Tigers. A 19-year-old took home the golden muscle car at the time, but now anybody can buy the rare car through an upcoming Mecum auction. As a way to boost sales and awareness of the Pontiac GTO and its performance parts, Wangers partnered up with Royal Pontiac, George Hurst, and Petersen Publishing in 1965 to create a contest. Royal provided the car, Hurst dressed it up, and Petersen distributed the contest in publications across the country. In order to participate, people were asked to provide a reason why they wanted the car and identify how many times the word "tiger" was used in the promotional song "GeeTO Tiger" (pronounced G-Tee-Oh) by The Tigers. A 19 year-old kid named Alex Lampone from West Allis, Wisconsin, won the contest and took delivery of this jazzed-up GTO at the 1965 NHRA Indy Nationals. This content is hosted by a third party. The Tigers - GeeTO Tiger The prize car was completely kitted out and described by Wangers as "the nicest GTO you could put your hands on." It had more than 28 factory options, including a black cordova top, power windows, power steering, power brakes, a tilt steering wheel, a power driver's seat, dual-speed windshield wipers, a custom sport steering wheel, a rally gauge cluster, a push-button AM/FM radio with power antenna, and a Verba phonic rear speaker. What makes it stand out is the Hurst-inspired gold theme, which includes gold paint, gold mag wheels, and a gold-plated Hurst Shifter. Under the hood, this GTO has a Tri-Power 389 V8 engine that pairs with a four-speed manual transmisison. It also has a 3.55 Safe-T-Track rear axle and dual exhaust. Throughout the years, this car has exchanged hands many times and has undergone a few changes. It's been repainted, and the engine has also been rebuilt, but Mecum says it's otherwise highly original. Ony 59,000 miles have turned over on the odometer. The GeeTO Tiger Pontiac is scheduled to go up for auction in Indianapolis this June. Visit Mecum for more information. Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party.
