The Story--
In the spring of 1967 a lady doctor drove past Bill Rapp Pontiac in Syracuse,NY and saw a yellow convertible in the showroom window.  She turned her 190SL around went back to the dealer and traded in her Mercedes Benz on this yellow Firebird 400 convertible.  This was her nice weather" fun car".  She drove this 3-4000 miles a year for 10 years, then her father drove it for 2 years.  In 1979 it was driven in and parked in a metal building and has not been touched since.  The doctor passed away in 2004. The car is now owned by her sister and has never before been offered for sale.  Since it has always been in the same family, the buyer will be the second owner.

The Car--
This is a nicely equipped 1967 Firebird 400 convertible. The mileage is correct at 42,867.  It has never been abused, modified, hot-rodded, or chopped in any way.  Only 2 adults have driven this car.  All of the original equipment is in place.  It has never been taken apart and the car was running in 1979 when it was parked.  Unfortunately it was improperly stored.  Nothing was done to preserve the car.  The paint is completely oxidized with the exception of the inside trunk lid as shown in the photos.  Mice have been in the interior.  Insulation and wiring have been chewed through by rodents.  There are 3 small missing parts; the 2 "Firebird" emblems on the front fenders and the "400" emblem on the trunk lid.  Other than these 3 minor parts the car is 100% complete including all 4 wheel covers, owner's manual and Pontiac floor mats. The doors, hood and trunk all open and close properly.  All of the glass is intact. "Hockey Sticks" are on the grill. The floorpans and the trunk floor appear to be solid.  The subframe looks solid but needs bushings where it meets the body. The fuel tank was replaced before the car was stored.  This car should have a complete "nut & bolt" restoration.  The car is rusty and has a few minor dents as shown in the photos.  Car comes with complete documentation from Pontiac Historic Services (PHS).  This includes copies of the build sheet, special equipment, window sticker and other pertinent information.    It is very unusual to find a 100% original complete and numbers-matching muscle car like this.  This is absolutely not a clone.  This Firebird deserves a quality restoration.

The Terms--
The buyer is responsible for removing the car and transportation. This is a true auction with a low starting price and NO RESERVE.   Please, no dreamers or tire-kickers.  Don't try to dazzle me with your knowledge, I know  Pontiacs.   Please, no low-ball offers. I have been accurate, honest, and complete in describing this car, but if you have any questions please email me or call (315)447-8730 8AM-8PM eastern time. THANK YOU

Porsche Syberia RS rally car is what you make when you need a Hummer that's fast

Fri, Apr 24 2020

Some history: The Porsche 911's first-ever race was the 1965 Monte Carlo rally, entered because Porsche's PR man at the time wanted to show how much the future icon could do. A year later, Porsche began selling an optional rally kit for the 911 that included Recaro seats, a roll bar, and adjustable Koni dampers. Porsche produced factory rally racers until the early 1970s, winning Monte Carlo three times in a row before letting privateers carry the torch so the factory could focus on campaigning in the East Africa Safari. After years of painful lessons, when Porsche took its brand-new 1978 911 SC to the safari, the 3.0-liter flat-six coupe was hours away from winning the race before damaging the suspension, demoting the car to second place. Porsche fans wanted their own replicas, and finding the new 911 to be an affordable option, the SC — built from 1978 to 1983 — went from denoting "Super Carrera" to "Safari Car."   Porsche took a big step up in with the 953 rally car. Built to win the 1984 Paris-Dakar, which it did, the 953 introduced the four-wheel-drive system Porsche would evolve for the 959 in 1985 and the 964-series 911 in 1989, as well as the now-unforgettable 911-based Rothmans livery. All of this is what's fueling today's 911 Safari Car revival around the world. Almost all of today's builds start with the so-called G Model 911s, produced from 1973 to 1989, usually focusing on the SC and the Carrera that ran from 1984 until 1989.  Fast forward to 2007 when a mysterious crew organized the TransSyberia Rally, a "sports-touring" event that stretched 4,500 miles from Moscow to the capital of Mongolia, Ulaanbaatar. Of the 34 vehicles that entered, 25 were Porsche's purpose-built Cayenne S Transsyberia Edition.  Put this all in a pot and you have the beginnings of the car that brings us here, the Syberia RS. It's said that a German fellow by the name of Kai Burkhard wanted to buy a Humvee, but the low top speed, around 50 miles per hour, put him off. So instead, he imported a 1986 911 "in collector condition" from Japan with the idea of rebuilding it to provide almost all the off-road fun he could have had in the H1. Burkhard tapped the Tailor Made department at German suspension designer H&R, and the two set to work creating a build like the 953 Dakar winner.  This content is hosted by a third party. General Lee takes on Bandit T/A in classic Hollywood car showdown [w/poll]

Fri, 26 Aug 2011

You don't have to be born in the 1960s or 1970s to be able to recognize the General Lee from The Dukes of Hazzard and the Pontiac Trans Am from Smokey and the Bandit. These old school four-wheeled stars seem to transcend demographics thanks to the miles of film that show the orange 1969 Dodge Charger and the jet-black 1977 Pontiac Trans Am performing seemingly impossible stunts.
The folks at Hot Rod magazine are obviously hip to this fact, and they put together a fun video in tribute of the instantly recognizable duo. Hit the jump to watch on as Sam Young and James Smith replace Bo Duke and The Bandit for a bit of dirt-road shenanigans in a pair of otherwise well cared for classics. We're not so sure we'd call it the best chase scene ever, but it sure looks like a lot of fun.
More importantly, which of these two cars would you rather own? Have your say in our poll below.

GM recalling 70k Chevy Malibus, Pontiac G6s over steering issue

Sun, Feb 15 2015

A problem with the power steering system in the Chevy Malibu and Pontiac G6 has prompted General Motors and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to issue a recall for an estimated 69,633 vehicles. The issue revolves around the electric power steering assist, which could suddenly fail and increase the risk of a crash, especially at low speeds where the power steering is most helpful. The recall affects 2006-2007 Chevy Malibu sedans and Malibu Maxx wagons (specifically those manufactured between April 1, 2006, and June 30, 2006), as well as the Pontiac G6 (which was offered as a sedan, coupe or convertible) from the same model years and manufactured from April 18, 2006, to June 30, 2006. Owners of the affected units can expect to hear from the manufacturer with instructions to bring in their vehicles to their local dealers to have the torque sensors in the power steering system replaced. RECALL Subject : Sudden Loss of Electric Power Steering , 1 INVESTIGATION(S) Report Receipt Date: FEB 04, 2015 NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V064000 Component(s): STEERING Potential Number of Units Affected: 69,633 Manufacturer: General Motors LLC SUMMARY: General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2006-2007 Chevrolet Malibu and Malibu Maxx vehicles manufactured April 1, 2006, to June 30, 2006, and 2006-2007 Pontiac G6 vehicles manufactured April 18, 2006, to June 30, 2006. In the affected vehicles, there may be a sudden loss of electric power steering (EPS) assist that could occur at any time while driving. CONSEQUENCE: If power steering assist is lost, greater driver effort would be required to steer the vehicle at low speeds, increasing the risk of a crash. REMEDY: GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the torque sensor assembly, free of charge. The manufacturer has not yet provided a notification schedule. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 or Pontiac customer service at 1-800-762-2737. GM's number for this recall is 14772. Note: This is an expansion of recall 14V-153 to cover additional vehicles built between April 1, 2006 and June 30, 2006. NOTES: Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
