1988 Pontiac Fiero Formula 3.4 Fastback on 2040-cars
Gadsden, Alabama, United States
I'm selling my 88 pontiac fiero formula.
This car is a one of a kind. It has a 3.4 swapped into it (by the previous owner mileage unknown), it has been converted to a fastback, The interior was redone in black and has black leatherette custom upholstered seat covers. Starting from front to back. The headlight motors have been rebuilt, two front ball joints have been replaced, it has lowering springs and new shocks along with new poly bushings, the wheels are 18X8 in the front and 18X9 in the rear(235's on front and 265's on rear), the car has been repainted and all molding is there and held on with clips from the fiero store the interior was redone in black and power locks and windows were installed(this is one of the only formulas in the world with power locks and windows), the seats were recovered along with the headliner The clutch slave cylinder was rebuilt with rodney dickens kit, the shifter cables were replaced with rodney dickens cables(top of the line), the banjo bolt was replaced with rodney's adjustable banjo. The rear rotors and pads were put on this year and the front are from a c4 corvette I believe(installed by previous owner),Custom height adjustable coil overs were built for the rear and the bushings were replaced with poly. I also have camber adjustment bolts not installed if you want me to throw those in It has a refurb edu from the fierostore, I had the AC fixed this summer but the compressor went bad(from NAPA) its still under warranty and they will pay to have it replaced if you send it in based on what customer service told me. Heat works great and all the gauges (minus the tach) are completely functional and accurate(even the fuel gauge) The 3rd gear syncro is bad but it still shifts into third just resists some at higher rpm's, the radiator fan relay is out but those can be had at an auto parts store cheap and the fan will run if you have the a/c switched on. I am selling this car because I decided to go back to school and don't have the time or money I need to do everything I dreamed of doing to it. My commute is 150 miles a day and this is what I've been commuting with so I have no doubts about its reliability and you would be more than able to drive it back home(I drove it to Louisiana and back about 3 weeks ago which is a 1200 mile round trip. If you have any questions feel free to ask I will try to post more pictures soon.(of the interior and such) I also have new formula door stickers and quarter windows that will go with the car |

GM recalling 778,000 Cobalts and G5s, six deaths reported
Thu, 13 Feb 2014General Motors has announced that it will be recalling 778,562 compact cars after six people were killed in accidents, partially due to the airbags' failure to deploy. An issue with the ignition switch is causing the airbag issues, as well as causing the engine and other components to shut off without warning. The recall covers the 2005 to 2007 model year Chevrolet Cobalt and 2007 Pontiac G5. (Note that the Cobalt pictured above is a 2009 model.)
According to a report from Automotive News, a number of factors can cause the ignition to switch out of the run position, including weights on the key ring, rough or bumpy roads or other "jarring" events. Any of these situations could lead to some vehicle components not functioning properly.
There have been five fatal front-impact crashes that took the lives of six people, although as a GM spokesman noted, all five of the crashes happened off road and at high speed. In each of these cases, though, the lack of airbags wasn't the only lethal factor - alcohol and failure to wear a seat belt also played a role. Outside of the fatal accidents, there have been 17 other crashes where airbags didn't deploy. It's unclear if any of these crashes were caused by the engine shutting off.
Lutz dishes dirt on GM in latest Autoline Detroit
Mon, 20 Jun 2011Bob Lutz sits down for Autoline Detroit - Click above to watch video after the jump
Autoline Detroit recently played host to Bob Lutz, and, as is always the case, the former General Motors vice chairman dished out some great commentary. Lutz was promoting his new book Car Guys vs. Bean Counters: The Battle for the Soul of American Business, and talk quickly turned to his role as it related to product development and high-level decision making at GM. While on the topic of brand management, Lutz revealed a few rather interesting tidbits about his former employer:
All Chevrolet vehicles were required to have five-spoke aluminum wheels and a chrome band up front, as part of the Bowtie brand's overall image.
