1973 Pontiac Catalina. Black ext. with black vinyl top. Black interior. 400 cu. in. V-8. ALL ORIGINAL, unrestored. Straight frame, A/C, AM/FM original flipping dial radio. Factory mag wheels, auto transmission. Full size spare with additional mag wheel, original jack. Manuals, etc. Clear title. 118,429 miles.
Own a classic. Drive it as is or restore it for show, all the parts are there! This was my Grandfathers car, who bought it new from Morton, Illinois Pontiac dealer. He willed it to me and I've had it for 10 years. It has always been garaged and recently removed from long term storage to sell.
Recent work, by a mechanic, includes: rebuilt carburetor, new battery, new rear brakes, new brake lines, new gas lines, gas tank cleared and cleand, new radiator hoses, new points & condensor.
Condition: wear and tear consistent with an original car 40 years old in Illinois. Please see http://db.tt/RM8lEjBX for a complete set of pictures and a couple videos of the car. I'll try to describe the worst of it here. Black laquer paint wearing thin in spots, other spots with surface imperfections and cracks. Rusting fenders around wheel wells. Vinyl shrinkage on hardtop under rear window. Interior upholstry worn on drivers side seat above left shoulder, carpet worn in a couple spots. Minor dent behind drivers side front tire. Cruise control and dashboard clock not functional. Milage is currently 118,429 but car is being driven for purposes of selling. Has always been a strong engine.
I do not want to waste your time or give unrealistic expectations of the car so please see all pictures and if you have questions ask before bidding. Also for sale locally, I reserve the right to end the auction is a local offer is accepted.
THERE IS A $500 DEPOSIT DUE IMMEDIALTLY AFTER THE AUCTION ENDS (PAYPAL WELCOME OR CONTACT ME FOR ARRANGEMENTS) - NON REFUNDABLE.
THE FINAL PAYMENT IS TO BE MADE BY CASH IN PERSON, MONEY WIRE, OR CERTIFIED FUNDS ONLY - ALL PAYMENTS TO BE CLEAR BEFORE THE CAR LEAVES.

Tony Stewart to star in Smoke Is The Bandit web series
Mon, 10 Mar 2014NASCAR driver Tony Stewart is making good use of his nickname Smoke in new videos inspired by the 1970s classic Smokey and the Bandit. The original is one of the quintessential automotive movies of its era with a fantastic combination of slapstick comedy and great car stunts in a Pontiac Firebird Trans Am. If you've never seen it, check it out immediately.
In the new six-part Smoke IS the Bandit web series, Stewart takes on the role of Burt Reynolds' famous character complete with huge mustache. But instead of trying to smuggle cases of Coors beer it's Mobil 1 oil. The series promises to recreate many of the famous scenes from the movie and includes cameos from other NASCAR drivers.
To complete the look, future videos just need a quality replacement for a young Sally Field to ride shotgun. It would also be really cool if Reynolds could make a brief appearance at some point. Scroll down to check out the trailer and the first episode in the series.
Rumormill: DeLorean Motor Company considering rescuing Pontiac Solstice?
Wed, 07 Oct 2009 DeLorean Motor Company Pontiac Solstice renderings - Click above for high-res image gallery
General Motors has made a science out of sharing platforms. So when the company's Kappa platform was introduced for a new rear-drive roadster to be distributed across three different motor divisions, you'd have figured the program was pretty safe, right? Unfortunately for the workers at the Wilmington Assembly Plant which manufactured the Kappa roadsters, those three divisions were Pontiac, Saturn and Opel - three units which the General has either sold or shut down. Which is a shame, because a perfectly good rear-drive roadster platform is a heck of a thing to waste.
In one of the strangest rumors we've heard recently, however, our compatriots over at Jalopnik report that the DeLorean Motor Company (yes, that DeLorean Motor Company) is considering buying the plant and the platform from GM and putting it back into production as a new DMC.
General Lee takes on Bandit T/A in classic Hollywood car showdown [w/poll]
Fri, 26 Aug 2011You don't have to be born in the 1960s or 1970s to be able to recognize the General Lee from The Dukes of Hazzard and the Pontiac Trans Am from Smokey and the Bandit. These old school four-wheeled stars seem to transcend demographics thanks to the miles of film that show the orange 1969 Dodge Charger and the jet-black 1977 Pontiac Trans Am performing seemingly impossible stunts.
The folks at Hot Rod magazine are obviously hip to this fact, and they put together a fun video in tribute of the instantly recognizable duo. Hit the jump to watch on as Sam Young and James Smith replace Bo Duke and The Bandit for a bit of dirt-road shenanigans in a pair of otherwise well cared for classics. We're not so sure we'd call it the best chase scene ever, but it sure looks like a lot of fun.
More importantly, which of these two cars would you rather own? Have your say in our poll below.
