Modern convertibles with their windshields nearly over your head just don't give you the feel these old convertibles give you. You feel like you're out on a boat ! This is a great daily driver, a couple scratches here and there so you can relax and enjoy it rather than stress over a trailer queen. All it takes is an NBA player with 40,000 to spend on a project and you'll be sure to get your money back out of this car. Buy a modern 20,000 used convertible and lose money. Chrome is excellent. Tires have plenty meat. Top has plenty of life left in it. Stops nice and straight as this was the first year for this model to have front disk breaks. Doesn't smoke or leak. Adult owned always. It came from southern Illinois witch doesn't get much snow. It's a great cruising in car as it gets plenty of attention. Great parade car. If the reserve price is met I'll have the back seat back reupholstered. I just can't invest the money at this time unless I know it's going to be sold. Lost job so I can't have money sitting in it. Rear window is real glass. All glass is good. Top goes up and down and latches perfectly. It's a quick car but never beat on. Check the rear tires they're not burnt down. Engine and drive train is all original but the driver and passenger front seat and carpet was replaced due to mice. I like these seats better. A 1970 Catalina, green, all original interior, looked decent in the pictures sold on ebay last year for about 14000 so I'd expect this to sell close to 10000. AC equipped ! But it doesn't work. A new power steering pump and steering box was installed not because one was needed, the garage just didn't realize the system just needed to be burped. He threw those parts at it till he figured it out. I can deliver this once full payment is received for $2 a mile from Menasha Wisconsin. Text 262.366.0382 if you have other questions. Send me an email at awduff4172 at gmail dot com if you'd like additional specific pictures sent to you.

This Auto Aerobics car art ties our brains in knots like pretzels
Sat, 14 Dec 2013We like cars, and we like art. Naturally, Chris Labrooy's Auto Aerobics series - computer-generated images of some seriously contorted 1968 Pontiac Bonnevilles floating in mid-air - instantly clicked with us. If the Pontiacs weren't floating or hollow, we could be fooled into believing the image is real. But where's the fun in that?
Check out the gallery we included of Labrooy's Bonneville art, and feel free too head over to his website for some Formula One humor.
NHTSA could add 1M cars to GM recall
Wed, 13 Mar 2013
The Detroit Free Press is reporting that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration may expand a recall campaign for faulty brake lamps. The agency is currently looking into complaints that certain 2004-2011 Chevrolet Malibu models as well as some 2007-2009 Saturn Aura sedans may have brake lights that do not illuminate when the driver presses the pedal. Alternatively, the lamps may also illuminate without input from the driver. General Motors recalled 8,000 Pontiac G6 models from the 2005 model year for the same problem, and NHTSA is currently investigating whether to add 550,000 more G6 models built between 2005 and 2009 to the list for the same issue.
In addition, investigators are currently examining 97 complaints from Malibu and Aura owners with the same trouble. If NHTSA adds those models to the recall campaign, more than one million units could be covered. GM, meanwhile, says there have been no accidents or injuries as a result of the problem.
GM knew about fatal Chevy ignition problem decade before recall
Fri, 21 Feb 2014Well, this is not good for General Motors. Following a report last week that GM was recalling 778,000 Chevrolet Cobalt and Pontiac G5 compacts over concerns that the ignition could switch out of the "run" position without warning, USA Today reports that the Detroit-based behemoth knew about the issue, which affected 2005 to 2007 Cobalts (the Cobalt shown above and in the gallery is from 2010) and 2007 Pontiac G5s, all the way back in 2004.
The information comes from a deposition in a civil lawsuit against GM, obtained by USA Today, which claims that a GM engineer experienced the issue while the then-new model was undergoing testing. The issue was "solved" when a technical service bulletin was issued in 2005, informing dealers to install a snap-on key cover on the cars of customers who complained about the issue. According to the Cobalt's program engineering manager, Gary Altman, the cover was an "improvement, it was not a fix to the issue."
The case where the depositions were made was from 2010, and involved Brooke Melton, a 29-year-old pediatric nurse in Georgia who was killed on her birthday. At the time, police claimed she was going too fast on a wet, rural road, although it later came out through the black box that her car's ignition had come out of the "run" position at least three seconds before the accident (the max amount of time a black box records before a wreck), disabling her airbags, power steering and anti-lock brakes. According to USA Today, police said Melton was "traveling too fast for the roadway conditions," although it's impossible to know if she'd have been in the wreck, which injured the occupants of another vehicle, had her 2005 Chevy not shut off. GM settled the Melton family's case, although the details remain confidential.
