1968 Pontiac Catalina 2 Door Fastback on 2040-cars
Hesperia, California, United States
For sale is this 1968 Pontiac Catalina 2 door fastback restoration project. Lets start with the body first. Original color looks like it was blue. The previous owner who I got the car from tried to paint the car white himself, and did a terrible job. He had no idea what he was doing. It has runs, and in some places, it looks like he used a brush. The good thing is, it has a fairly strait body, with no bondo or body work done that I can find. It is rust free, with good floor boards, good trunk and especially around the back window area inside and out. It's solid. The car will definitely have to be sanded down and repainted.
All of the glass is good. The front and rear bumpers look good. The front lower valance will need some work. The rear valance is missing, so is Pontiac Catalina lettering. The interior will also need help. It's missing the lower back seat. The front seat is OK. All of the seat belts are there. It will need things like a carpet kit, headliner, package tray, weather stripping, etc. The door panels look ok. The dash itself looks ok, but the dash pad will need redone. The engine is the original 400 2 barrel. It starts and runs good. The trans is the turbo 400 and it shifts good. Has power steering and power brakes. This is a non AC factory car. The heater core will also have to be replaced. As I stated in the beginning, this is a restoration project. But it look to be a solid candidate for restoration or customize it your own way. Please understand I've tried describe the car as best I can from what I see and know. It is NOT perfect nor do I make any claim that it is. It will need restoration. Please ask all questions you might have before bidding. Please make sure you have the funds available before placing a bid and that you have permission from you wife, mother husband or whoever. If you have just joined ebay, please email me with your intentions before bidding. The car is sold "as is where is " with NO warranty expressed or implied. A $500.00 non refundable deposit is due at auction close with balance due within 5 days. Thanks for looking |

This Auto Aerobics car art ties our brains in knots like pretzels
Sat, 14 Dec 2013We like cars, and we like art. Naturally, Chris Labrooy's Auto Aerobics series - computer-generated images of some seriously contorted 1968 Pontiac Bonnevilles floating in mid-air - instantly clicked with us. If the Pontiacs weren't floating or hollow, we could be fooled into believing the image is real. But where's the fun in that?
Check out the gallery we included of Labrooy's Bonneville art, and feel free too head over to his website for some Formula One humor.
STUDY: Ford owns brand loyalty in 2009; Scorned Saturn, Pontiac buyers will look outside of GM
Fri, 16 Oct 2009Ford buyers appear to love their cars more than customers of any other automotive brand, returning back to the American automaker when it comes time to purchase their next vehicle. According to a study by Experian Automotive, six of the top 10 vehicles for customer brand loyalty wear badges from the Blue Oval. That includes the Ford Fusion (62.4 percent), Ford Edge (57.9 percent), Ford Five Hundred/Taurus (56 percent), Ford Freestyle (51.9 percent), Ford Escape (49.4 percent) and the Ford Focus (47.57 percent).
Other vehicles making up the top 10 include the Toyota Prius (52 percent), Chevy Impala (51.7 percent), Toyota Camry (47.8 percent) and Toyota Corolla (47.56 percent). This brings up an interesting question: With the closing of automotive brands like Saturn and Pontiac, where are those buyers to turn for their next automotive purchase?
Apparently, not back to General Motors. According to Experian, Pontiac owners are most likely to look to the Ford lineup for their next car or truck and Saturn shoppers will switch to Toyota or Honda - not particularly surprising given that Saturn was meant to compete with import brands. Experian predicts that GM's overall market share will fall from 20 percent to about 17.5 percent, with most of the slack being picked up by Ford, Honda and Toyota.
CNN chronicles young girl building Pontiac Fiero
Fri, 26 Oct 2012At fourteen years of age, Kathryn DiMaria has already done what many self-proclaimed gearheads won't even attempt in their lifetimes. The Dearborn, Michigan teen is rebuilding a car from the ground up.
The intrepid youngster asked her parents when she was just twelve to start a Pontiac Fiero project, even offering to pony up all the funds herself. Father, Jerry DiMaria only expected the project to last a few months, but two years later, Kathryn is still at it. In this CNN video, the two are at Maker Faire (a DIY festival) rebuilding a 3.4-liter V6 engine out of a Chevrolet Camaro to replace the 2.8-liter mill found in the Fiero.
The whole family hast pitched in, with Kathryn's mother teaching her how to sew in order to complete the interior, father Jerry providing much of the technical know-how, and even her sister is chronicling Kathryn's progress through photos. Jerry even started a thread in a Fiero forum which has been live for two years and is now 22 pages long. Of the project, one forum member wrote, "welcome to the madness."
