1964 Pontiac Catalina Ventura 389 V8 Professional Restoration Custom Built !!!!! on 2040-cars
Waukegan, Illinois, United States
You
are bidding on a Custom and Rather Rare, Nicely Optioned 1964 Pontiac
Catalina Ventura. There weren’t many of this model produced to begin with
and the survivors are few and far between. This car has, over the past several
years, gone through a FULL RESTORATION that
was completed this past spring. This eye catching Base Coat/Clear Coat Reverse
Scallop Teal Green over Sunlit Sand Pearl Silver paint scheme and
Interior was chosen to respectfully pay tribute to the Custom Street Rods and
Low Riders of yesteryear yet still retain some of its classic original
features. The chassis has been lowered two (2) inches in the front giving this
car a very aggressive stance. This car was undercoated from the factory and
still retains most of that original undercoating. The underside of the car has
been cleaned and re-undercoated and the frame repainted in flat black. The
entire underside of the car has been detailed and is nearly as nice as the
topside. A brand new gas tank with new sending unit and pickup has been
installed. The engine and automatic transmission have been completely rebuilt.
The A/C system has been completely gone through, restored as needed and on a 90
degree sunny day produces a BONE
CHILLING 35 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT AT THE VENTS!!! The
A/C systems of today’s cars cannot even compete!!! Other
than the paint and interior some of the other custom features of this car
include the 64 Grand Prix headlight bezels, grill and parking lights as well as
64 Grand Prix rear fender extensions, backup and tail lights and rear finned
chrome bezel. Red LED lights were installed in the rear finned bezel in place
of the factory GP tail lights and inside the GP backup lights. Brand new backup
lights were installed in the factory Catalina bumper locations. Door handles
and door mounted mirrors have been shaved and Custom mini roadster mirrors have
been modified and mounted on the vent window frames. Door poppers have been
installed to open the doors. A remote is included for the door poppers. KMC
17x8 Chrome Billet Venom Wheels wrapped in low profile Kumho Ecsta ASX tires

teal green in color and extends to the bottom of the door panels and the kick

through the exterior paint scheme. The metal parts of the dash and steering
column were repainted in the light aqua and shows very nicely. The chrome dash
is nice with very little pitting. The padded dash top is brand new and looks
very nice. The real wood dash applique is brand new reproduction as is the wood
sport steering wheel. The headliner is also brand new and is done in the white
star pattern. The trunk has been customized with inner side panels upholstered like
the door panels and the medium green carpet. All lights and accessories work as
they were intended including all factory and aftermarket gauges. EXTERIOR: The
front and rear bumper were just re-chromed and looks FANTASTIC. The exterior stainless is over-all nice for its age. All
other exterior chrome is in good original condition with very little pitting.
The doors open and shut easily and the hinges are tight. All exterior
emblems have been replaced with new reproductions. The undercarriage of this
car is highly detailed and very nice and has been cleaned, re-undercoated and/or repainted back to its original flat
black color. The engine compartment has been restored to factory condition. The
floor pans and trunk floor are original and solid. The
1964 VENTURA was a sub-model of the Catalina line of cars and was designed to
be a sporty classy version of the Catalina with the factory tri-tone interior
and all of the available chrome features offered on the Catalina. This car not
only has style and luxury but it performs well with a factory horse power

This 1927 Oakland is a minimalist hot rod
Fri, 21 Feb 2014There are hundreds of American automakers that sprung up during the dawn of the automotive era, only to fold into obscurity or get gobbled up by what would eventually become the Big Four (yes, we're counting AMC here). Oakland is one such company, which was the forbearer for General Motors' Pontiac division. Sold until 1931, you simply don't see Oakland-badged cars anymore. Unless, that is, you know Brian Bent.
Bent drives a 1927 Oakland that still rides on wooden wheels. Its original wooden wheels, from the sound of it. That makes this anachronist and his Oakland the perfect subject for a Petrolicious video. Like many of the cars highlighted by Petrolicious, this old Oakland has had some work done to it, featuring a Pontiac flathead engine that's been pushed forward and a clutch pack built by Bent.
Take a look below for a closer look at this rare and fascinating Oakland.
Junkyard Gem: 1991 Pontiac Grand Am LE with Quad 4 Engine
Wed, May 9 2018GM introduced the N-Body compact platform with the Oldsmobile Calais and Pontiac Grand Am for the 1985 model year and continued building N-based cars through 1998. Most of these cars weren't interesting from an enthusiast standpoint, but a handful rolled off the assembly line with raucous DOHC Oldsmobile Quad 4 engines and manual transmissions, and those cars were plenty of fun. Here's a 1991 Grand Am with that rare setup, photographed in a self-service yard in California's Central Valley. The base engine in the 1991 Grand Am was the 110-horsepower, 2.5-liter pushrod Iron Duke, an engine that might have been fine on a Romanian tractor in 1953 but had no place on an American street car as the 21st century approached. Fortunately, GM started bolting the modern 2.3-liter DOHC Quad 4 engine into 1988 cars, and this was a proper four-cylinder. The Quad 4 ran a little rough and uncivilized, and it had its share of reliability problems, but you could rev the piss out of it and it made good power. In 1991, this engine was rated at 180 hp. That made this 2,592-pound sedan pretty quick. Unfortunately, the slushboxization of America had progressed with depressing rapidity during the 1980s, and by 1991 most Grand Am buyers — even the ones who opted for the Quad 4 — chose the automatic transmission. That didn't happen with this car, though — it boasts a rugged Getrag 5-speed instead of the happiness-amputating three-speed automatic. Yes, that's the kind of odometer reading you'd expect to see on an Accord or Maxima from this era. Someone loved this car and took care of it. Here we see an interesting mix of 1980s and 1990s car-radio technology. CD players in cars were still costly luxury items in 1991, seldom seen in affordable cars like the Grand Am, while 1980s-style slider-style EQ controls were on the way out. This Delco unit straddles both decades nicely. I seek out Quad 4-equipped cars during my junkyard travels, and I have photographed quite a few: this '89 Cutlass Calais, this '90 Cutlass Calais, this '90 Grand Am, this '91 Quad 442, this '93 Achieva SCX, and this '98 Cavalier Z24. It's a shame that Buick never put the Quad 4 in the Reatta, which was a fine car ruined by a somnolent and obsolete V6. The music in this ad is even more early-1990s than Crystal Pepsi. A pair of Mitsubishis, the Mazda CX-30 and electric incentives | Autoblog Podcast #673
Fri, Apr 9 2021This week's Autoblog Podcast features Editor-in-Chief Greg Migliore and Consumer Editor Jeremy Korzeniewski as they debate the merits of the redesigned Subaru BRZ and Toyota 86 coupes and whether or not they are distinctive and powerful enough to attract buyers. The duo spends some time discussing ongoing EV and infrastructure legislation before turning their attention to a trio of crossovers. Greg muses about the 2021 Mazda CX-30 before Jeremy talks about the refreshed 2022 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross and completely redesigned Outlander. We get nostalgic as we remember the dearly departed Pontiac GTO before wrapping the podcast up by making one more suggestion to a longtime listener who is shopping for a vehicle to replace her aging Honda Pilot.
