The Gentlemans Gto on 2040-cars
Wallingford, Connecticut, United States
Here we have the ultimate project, a 1970 Pontiac Bonneville convertible with the matching numbers drivetrain and thousands of dollars in NOS parts(see list below and pictures) as well used parts(see pictures). This car was sold new in Boulder Colorado, but appears to have spent it's life in the Salt Lake City Utah until my purchase in 2004. Car is loaded with options including A.C.,power windows, 6-way power seat, power door locks, trunk release, tilt wheel, cruise control, rally guages, cornering lights and rally wheels and dual exhaust. Also included is a complete factory am/fm multiplex stereo with seperate tranny hump mounted 8-track player. This car is currently registered and insured and the motor and tranny are excellent with no leaks, one brake line needs to be replaced. I purchased this car 10 years ago with the intent of fully restoring it and have spent this time scouring the internet for NOS parts as well as used parts and everything is included with the purchase of the car. Since owning the car I installed a new tinted widshield, had the brake booster restored and properly plated with new master cylinder, alternator as well as a correct date coded carberator, new distributor and reproduction date coded ignition wires. The top was replaced in 2002 and at that time the top motor and both top pistons were replaced with new, the top is still in pretty decent shape with the proper glass rear window. I also have the correct NOS vinyl upholstery with enough yardage to do both the front and rear seats purchased from Original Auto Interiors. What the car really needs is bodywork and paint. I removed most of the interior and exterior moldings so you can see what really needs to be done. The car has the usual rust in the rear quarters and some minor floor rust, but the frame is excellent as well as the doors and rockers and even the the trunk floor, included with the auction are lower quarter panel repair panels for both sides. Below is a list of NOS parts that come with the car: - All 4 chrome headlight bezels -2 sets of grille inserts, argent as well as charcoal colored - both horn grilles - parking light/cornering light lenses and one housing - factory door edge guards - all 4 wheel well opening moldings - front license plate bracket - Bonneville insignias for the hood, trunklid, fender - 455 emblem for the fender - passenger side outside door handle - all 4 chrome moldings located behind the front and rear bumper corners - rear edge of hood molding - rear seat courtesy light lenses - fuel/oil pressure guage - Printed circuit board for rally guages - Interior ashtrays including dash, passenger door and rear seat on each side - dash courtesy/maplight - vehicle emissions control sticker for under hood - dash mounted A.C. outlets - dash mounted A.C./heat/defrost control assembly - power door lock cylinder - left and right exhaust pipe ends with proper turndown - cruise control package(probaly A-body) but includes proper vacuum diaphram, turn signal stalk and fenderwell mounted transducer - clock bezel - instrument cluster lens - brake pedal pad - outside drvers door remote mirror, not NOS, but darn close! - rear quarter panel side light bezels with one lens - self adhesive body side moldings, new, but aftermarket, not NOS, but look correct - brake light switch plus many other small mechanical bits like sending units, voltage regulater etc. In addition I have the the full PHS documents for the car including the build sheet and reproduction window sticker, original protect-o-plate, shop manual, owners manual and dealers brochure plus MORE. I also have an extensive array of used parts as well, to numerous to break down, please see pictures. Please ask questions or feel free to call me at 203-219-2962 (Eric) or to request additional pictures On May-08-14 at 10:11:54 PDT, seller added the following information: I just wanted to add that auction includes a rechromed rear bumper, also NOS outer beltline moldings for the quarter windows.

Rent the 1967 Pontiac GTO from the XxX films now on Turo
Tue, Jan 10 2017The process of renting a car usually ranges from mildly annoying to "I'm calling corporate to get you fired." Plainly, it sucks, but sometimes you're left with no alternative. Turo, a peer-to-peer carsharing network, has created what's essentially the AirBnB for cars. Like AirBnB, the quality and variety of the rides varies based on location. If you're in Tucson, Ariz., in the next week, go check out this 1967 Pontiac GTO convertible before the release of XxX: The Return of Xander Cage. Promotions and marketing aside, this is still the opportunity to drive one of the original muscle cars. It's not clear if this is an original GTO or a Pontiac Tempest that was converted, but does it really matter? Old cars never drive as well as you hope, so, as long as it looks and sounds awesome, who cares? The owner listed on Turo is Xander C., Vin Diesel's character from the XxX franchise. This is the car that was used in the original 2002 film, and from the photos it appears to be in better shape than many other movie cars. The exterior is mostly stock, with some slight modifications to the lighting, wheels, exhaust, and trim, with the addition of a funky looking hood scoop that the listing claims shoots flames. It's not clear if it functions as an actual intake because there aren't any notes about what rests under the hood. The listing does ask for premium fuel, so more than likely it's some variation of a high-compression V8. Inside, the dashboard looks like someone raided the AutoZone accessory aisle. There are gauges, dials, toggle switches, and readouts galore. The listing also claims the Goat is packing a rocket launcher and a weapons stash under the seat. $999 per day isn't cheap, but it's less than you'd pay for a day with one of the rent-an-exotic shops you see in Los Angeles or New York. If you're not in Tucson or the price is a little too steep, Turo has what it's dubbed the Adrenaline Collection. The name may be hyperbole, but the lineup of cars is actually really solid. A quick glance reveals a 2015 Lamborghini Huracan, 2001 Ferrari 360 Spider, and a 1969 Jaguar E-Type. The car list keeps expanding, so if this proves popular, look for more cool stuff in the future. Junkyard Gem: 1984 Pontiac Fiero with supercharged 3800 V6 swap
Tue, Dec 31 2019Like the Corvair, the Vega, and the Citation, the Pontiac Fiero was a very innovative machine that ended up causing General Motors more headaches than happiness, and Fiero aficionados and naysayers continue to beat each other with tire irons (figuratively speaking, I hope) to this day. The General has often proved willing to take the occasional big gamble and huge GM successes in engineering prowess (including the first overhead-valve V8 engine for the masses and the first real-world-usable true automatic transmission) and marketing brilliance (e.g., the Pontiac GTO and related John DeLorean home runs) meant that the idea of a mid-engined sporty economy car (or economical sports car) got a shot from the suits on the 14th floor. Sadly, the Fiero ended up being the marketplace victim of too many issues to get into here, and The General pulled the plug immediately after the 1988-model-year suspension redesign that made the Fiero the sports car it should have been all along. But what if the plastic Pontiac had never suffered from the misery of the gnashy, pokey Iron Duke engine and had been built from the start with a screaming supercharged V6 making way better than 200 horsepower? The final owner of today's Junkyard Gem sought to make that very Fiero, by dropping in one of the many supercharged 3.8-liter V6s installed in 1990s and 2000s GM factory hot rods. The first Fieros came out in 1983 for model year 1984, and the only engine available that year was the Iron Duke 2.5-liter four-cylinder, which generated its 92 horsepower with the full-throated song of a Soviet tractor stuck in the freezing mud of a Polish sugar-beet field. The 2M4 badging stood for "two seats, mid-engine, four cylinders," just as the numbers in the Oldsmobile 4-4-2 once represented "four carburetor barrels, four-speed manual transmission, dual exhaust." This car is a top-trim-level SE model, which listed for $9,599 (about $24,200 today). The no-frills Fiero cost just $7,999 that year, making these cars far cheaper than the only other reasonably affordable new mid-engined car Americans could buy at that time: the $13,990 Bertone (aka Fiat) X1/9. The Toyota MR2 appeared in North America as a 1985 model with a base price of $10,999 and promptly siphoned off the car-buying cash from a bunch of potential Fiero shoppers.
New Forza 6 car pack will let you race the Pontiac Aztek
Fri, Jan 29 2016Just in time for this weekend's Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona, the new Alpinestars Car Pack for Forza Motorsport 6 on the Xbox One lets you slip into the driver's seat of last year's winner. If you want to take something much weirder for a spin, the collection also includes a 2005 Pontiac Aztek. The download is available now for $6.99. The Ford #02 Chip Ganassi Racing Riley Mk XXVI Daytona was in a four-car battle early in last year's race, but it eventually was victorious. Forza Motorsport 6 also challenges drivers who download the car to a new Rivals event around Daytona, and the fastest people could win Alpinestars prizes. If you're nostalgic for a classic Daytona racecar, this pack includes Mercury #15 Whistler Radar Cougar XR-7. The V8-powered beast won the IMSA GTO class in the 24-hour event in 1990. It should be fun around the game's longer road courses like Road Atlanta. This collection also has an eclectic mix of vehicles that aren't racecars. The controversial Aztek and the equally-controversial 1996 Subaru SVX take their places beside a lineup that offers drivers three eras of performance cars – a 1967 Sunbeam Tiger, 1974 Toyota Corolla SR5, and 1992 Alfa Romeo Milano Quadrifoglio Verde. The video below shows all of them in action. Race to the Finish Line with the Alpinestars Car Pack for Forza Motorsport 6 By Xbox Wire Staff posted on January 27, 2016 at 8:00 am With the racing season set to kick into full gear during this weekend's Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona race, Forza fans now have a chance to get their own taste of endurance racing glory with the Alpinestars Car Pack for Forza Motorsport 6, available on Thursday, Jan. 28. Leading off the pack of seven cars is last year's 24 Hours of Daytona winner, the 2015 Ford #02 Chip Ganassi Racing Riley Mk XXVI Daytona Prototype. The prototype will be fielded in this weekend's race, which begins at 2 p.m. EST on Saturday, Jan. 30 and can be viewed live on Fox Sports 1 in the U.S. The Alpinestars Car Pack features six additional cars, each with a unique pedigree all its own. From the 1990 Mercury #15 Whistler Radar Cougar XR-7 – also a competitor in Daytona 24 Hour events of years past – to the inimitable 2005 Pontiac Aztek (famous more for its fictional owner than its performance), this pack has something for every kind of car fan. Forza Motorsport 6 is the only game where players can drive last year's Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona winner on the recently remodeled Daytona International Speedway.
