A very nice survivor car "barn find" with 45568 original miles on it . An all original unmolested 1961 Bonneville 4 door hardtop with 4 barrel 389 and 4 speed Hydromatic transmission, factory fender mounted vacumn controlled mirrors, under dash air conditioner, power brakes and power steering. The ultimate cruiser. Has been off the road for years when found. Flushed the gas tank and lines, had the OEM AFB carburator rebuilt, new battery, new fuel pump and started her right up. No smoke, knocks, raps, transmission shifts OK, no leaks. The car is 99% complete, the only thing missing that I can see is the letter "E" on the drivers' side Bonneville emblems.
All the glass is intact (windshield has a small crack at the top middle ) windows go up and down easily, door open and close fine. This was an east coast car before it came to New Mexico so it has the usual rust. There are small rust areas at the bottom of the rear doors, bottom of the rear fenders and rust spot on top of both froint fender, all easialy repaired or leave "as is" as a lot of people are now doing. the rest of the body and frame are OK. Generator charges ok, exterior and interior lights work, horn turn signal and brake lights all work. Brakes and steering all work fine, no leaks. The a/c compressor was removed by the prior owner and comes with the car. The radio (AM only) works.
Will need tires , they are dry rotted from years of sitting in the sun,I did not install new ones to keep the price low. the interior is also dried out from sitting out in the sun., you can sit and use the seats but they are dry. The dash and instruments are pretty good, so is the steering wheel. The headliner is red and in very good condition so is the carpeting. The fuel gage is not working, you'll probably need a new sending unit like all these survivors do. Comes with two flipper hub caps, two OEM caps and another set of 4 OEM hub caps.
You'll need to go through the car as it has been sitting for a long time. If you want a really great old time fun to drive cruiser at a very fair price, here it is. questions? call or text dean 505-414-0617
On Aug-08-13 at 07:35:20 PDT, seller added the following information:
Posted new pics showing the bad spot on the front fender tops. My camera died so I apologize for the quality of the cell phone pics. Both fenders have the same defect in the same spot. I posted a pic of the right rear rust area the left is the same. If I was to keep this car I'd leave things the way they were and just drive it. The picture of the engine has my loaner carb on it so I could run and drive the car while the AFB was being rebuilt. I also offer a $150.00 rebate to help defray shipping costs if you use the BIN option at its present number ($3690.00) so the car will actually cost you only $3540.00. if the car sells for less the rebate offer is withdrawn .

GM recalling 8.4M cars, 8.2M related to ignition problems
Mon, 30 Jun 2014General Motors today announced a truly massive recall covering some 8.4 million vehicles in North America. Most significantly, 8.2 million examples of the affected vehicles are being called back due to "unintended ignition key rotation," though GM spokesperson Alan Adler tells Autoblog that this issue is not like the infamous Chevy Cobalt ignition switch fiasco.
For the sake of perspective, translated to US population, this total recall figure would equal a car for each resident of New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Montana, Delaware, South Dakota, Alaska, North Dakota, the District of Columbia, Vermont and Wyoming. Combined. Here's how it all breaks down:
7,610,862 vehicles in North America being recalled for unintended ignition key rotation. 6,805,679 are in the United States.
The last Pontiac Fiero sold for $90,000 at auction
Thu, Dec 3 2020On August 16, 1988 the last Pontiac Fiero, a red GT model, rolled off the assembly line at GM's Pontiac Assembly plant located in Pontiac, Michigan. It wasn't just the final Fiero, but the final car to be built at that site. The car was raffled off to one of 1,400 plant employees that would soon have to find jobs elsewhere. Whoever that employee was, they remained faithful to the Fiero and kept it in mint condition for 32 years. Last month, it was finally time to move on. It crossed the block at GAA Auctions in Greensboro, North Carolina where it sold for an astounding $90,000. According to the auction house, that's a new world record. The price no doubt reflected the car's place in history as the last example of GM's 1980s mid-engined sports car. However, it was also showroom-new, with just 582 miles clocked on its 2.8-liter V6. 1988 models were also fitted with an upgraded, Lotus-esque suspension produced for just that one year. In addition, this car, serial number 226402, came with its original build sheet, photos from the assembly line, and a collection of news articles and books. It still wore its pre-delivery plastic on the interior and was fully loaded with automatic transmission. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. You can see the action starting at the 2:50:13 mark in the video above. The Fiero was symbolic of the 1980s and stood out from the standard GM passenger car fare for its mid-engine layout and plastic body panels. In an era when GM often rebadged cars with minimal differences, the Fiero rode on its own unique chassis. It was positioned as one of the defining products for Pontiac, GM's "excitement" brand, but actual performance never quite lived up to its striking looks. Nevertheless, it garnered a cult following. It's often the basis for (questionable) custom builds mimicking more exotic models like Ferraris and Lamborghinis, thanks to a steel space-frame design that allows body panels to be easily removed. Thankfully, this significant example escaped such a fate and will live on as a reminder of an interesting chapter of automotive history.
Camaro-based Trans Am SE Bandit Edition borrows Burt Reynolds
Tue, Mar 29 2016For some reason, modifying modern Chevrolet Camaros into the lurching, reincarnated shells of the Pontiac brand is still a thing. If you're the perverse sort that likes this kind of thing, you should check out the latest product from the Trans Am Depot, which comes complete with an endorsement from the star of Smokey and the Bandit, Burt Reynolds. Yes, the new Trans Am SE Bandit Edition has been signed and endorsed by the man himself, but what's important here is not the signature on the dash, it's the bits of Camaro that have been modified. Aesthetically, that means a Bandit-and-Frog-approved set of T-tops, a front-opening hood with a very large, prominent shaker scoop, an equally large and prominent screaming chicken, and Trans Am-inspired front and rear fascias. And naturally, Burt Reynolds' signature adorns the dash. There are plenty of reminders in the cabin about this car's Hollywood inspiration, too. Bandit decals can be found on the front headrests and center console lid, there are chicken wings on the Camaro-spec plastic door inserts, and the black-and-tan color scheme matches nicely with the exterior look. And power? Well, Sheriff Buford T. Justice would have a lot more trouble keeping up with this Trans Am than he did with the original. The 7.4-liter LSX V8 has been paired with a 2.9-liter supercharger which is good for 840 horsepower. It's fast and loud, and even if you can't get behind the look (we can't), at least this Camaro-in-Trans Am's clothing can impress with its performance. The Bandit Edition is limited to just 77 units with prices starting around $115,000. You can check out the official video from Trans Am Depot, which comes with a decent helping of Burt Reynolds, up top. Related Video:
