If you have followed my listings you know I mostly list repo vehicles. This vehicle I am actually listing for my repo man. He did some work for someone and the person traded him this vehicle for the work. He has owned the vehicle since December 8th, 2012. Here is the information on the vehicle based on my inspection of the car.

Motor:

The motor runs good. I personally had the car running for 25 minutes and no issues with overheating. The engine appears strong. There were no engine  warning lights on at the time of inspection. The check the tire pressure light was on. The current owner has driven the vehicle about 500 miles since acquiring the vehicle. The owner has installed a new battery, new alternator, new tires, and new brake calipers and shoes on the rear brakes. The vehicle had 124685 miles at the time of listing. This could change slightly due to some light driving.

Transmission:

The transmission seems to shift fine and accelerate strong.

Body:

The body is in good shape with only a few minor dings. There is a bad spot on the hood and under the gas door where the paint is bubbled and rusted. It is our understanding that this is due to the prior owner living in the Chicago area and this is from the snow salt. The rear bumper has some nicks in it. There is a bad spot on the molding at the drivers window. There is something on the driver's side front headlight cover

Interior:

The leather seats are worn. There is some tears on the leather on the center console and a hole in the back seat. The cloth on the pouch part of the sun visor is starting to come off. The controls on the steering wheel are faded.  The brackets that connect the seat to the floor board have rust on them. I have included a picture. The rear air control knob covers are missing.

Power options:

The A/C works good. The power windows on the driver side works but the passenger side windows do not work. The car has a sun roof. It has not been opened by me or the owner as we did not want to risk it not closing since the passenger windows are not functioning.

Tires:

Tires are new with about 500 miles on them.

Brakes:

New calipers and shoes on the rear brakes.

The car is sold as is without any warranty expressed or implied. The winning bidder will need to pay a $250 deposit within 48 hours of auction end,. The buyer is responsible for any applicable sales tax or registration as applicable to their home state. The winning bidder will need to pay by cash in person or certified funds upon pick up. Please understand this is a used vehicle so it does have some imperfections. I hope you can appreciate the straightforward listing.  If you have questions please feel free to forward them to me. The vehicle is also for sale locally.

Junkyard Gem: 2007 Saturn Sky

Sat, Jun 26 2021

The Pontiac Division didn't have long to live when the Solstice first appeared in 2005 as a 2006 model, and Saturn's head was inching toward the chopping block at about the same rate. Still, optimism reigned — at least, it did until the global economy fell apart — and so Saturn Dealers got a rebadged version of the Solstice to sell: the Sky. Available for just the 2007 through 2010 model years, slightly more than 34,000 Skies rolled out of showrooms before the doors were nailed shut. Here's one of those rare cars, found in a Denver-area self-service yard a few weeks ago. I've found a handful of discarded Solstices in car graveyards during the past few years, mostly with crash damage. This Sky endured a medium-hard impact in the right front corner, which sent it to this place. The 177-horsepower, 2.4-liter Ecotec still resides under the battered hood. The Sky Redline version had a turbocharged engine rated at 260 horses; we can assume that such an engine would be yanked and purchased by the first junkyard shopper that realized what it was. The base transmission in the Sky was an Aisin five-speed manual, but this car has the optional five-speed automatic.  The Sky had its own nose and some different badging, but otherwise didn't differ much from the Solstice.  For the South Korean market, the Sky got Daewoo G2X badges and was advertised as the ideal vehicle for high-speed chases through Seoul traffic. The same car went to Europe as the Opel GT. Sadly, GM ran out of money to make right-hand-drive Skies, so we never got to witness Holden or Vauxhall versions. Here's Bob Lutz describing the new Sky. Lutz really hated car names molded into plastic bumper covers, so he takes great care here to describe the genuine glued-on emblems. Related Video:

This Hoonigan mechanic's twin-turbo Trans Am is wonderful

Thu, Mar 24 2016

What do you drive when you work on rally machines for a living? Probably a Subaru WRX, and that's what Gregg Hamilton had for a while until working on his car felt too much like his day job. So when he moved from New Zealand to the US to work for Ken Block (with a few stops along the way) he bought something entirely different. This is Gregg's 1979 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am. It's a throwback to another time, but it's anything but stock. It has that magic combination of a big V8 with a manual transmission and rear drive, just like the tin-top racers Gregg watched in his Kiwi youth. He bought it sight unseen from its previous owner in Alabama, and has been tinkering with it ever since. There's something about the flared wheel arches and the classic Firebird gold-striped black livery that has us smitten. Scope out the six-minute clip above from Petrolicious and see if you don't fall for Gregg's Pontiac as well.

Pontiac should come back as a performance division for GM

Thu, Apr 6 2017

For decades the Pontiac brand was known as GM's performance brand. From the 1964 Pontiac GTO, to the 1967 Firebird, to the 1984 Fiero, to the 2006 Solstice Turbo, and 2009 G8 GXP, Pontiac had a reputation for building exciting cars, with bold styling and performance to back it up. When the Camaro was killed off in 2002, the Pontiac Firebird died off with it, and the last Pontiacs were built in early 2010. But with names like G3, G4, and G6, Pontiac's performance image had long faded from it's earlier glory days. My idea for Pontiac's revival would be to bring it back as a dedicated performance marque similar to Chevy's Super Sport (SS) line up of years past. First, and most obvious would be to bring back the Pontiac Firebird. Offering the entry-level model with the Camaro's 275HP turbo 4 cylinder engine, then having the Camaro SS's 455HP V8, but also offering a halo model Trans Am that is a revamped Camaro ZL-1 along with it's tire-shredding 650HP, supercharged V8 and race tuned suspension. Secondly, I would bring back the GTO. Which I would base on the current Chevy SS, but I would use the full 455-horsepower LS4 V8 (rather than the 415-hp setup that it has now). Furthermore, I would add the impressive 650-hp supercharged V8 to provide real competition to the Charger Hellcat. Importantly, I would make sure that the new GTO had bold, distinctive styling that really set it apart. I understand that purists would want any Pontiac GTO to be a two-door coupe, but I think that they could forgive that if the new GTO was an outstanding American performance car. Next, I would take the Buick Cascada convertible, add much bolder styling, swap in the Camaro's 275-hp turbo engine, and tune up the suspension to provide more performance than luxury (without being harsh). And finally I would round out the line up by using the new 2018 Traverse , but use the new, bold Pontiac design language to spice up the model's looks, tweak the engines for more power, and again provide a performance suspension that matches the model's new sporty looks. Obviously, having a high performance Pontiac model line up would steal away some sales from Chevy, Buick, and Cadillac models. But I think that it would more than make up for this by also stealing away sales from competing brands.
