UP FOR SALE, IS THIS 1966 PONTIAC BONNEVILLE 4 DOOR . THIS WAS A ONE OWNER CALIF CAR, THAT I ACQUIRED FROM AN ESTATE SALE. ACCORDING TO THE SON, HIS MOTHER BOUGHT THE CAR  NEW IN 1966, AND OWNED IT UNTIL SHE PASSED AWAY.
THE CAR HAS ORIGINAL MILES OF 60800. IT'S BEEN WELL CARED FOR AND ACCORDING TO HER SON, IT WAS ALWAYS GARAGED.

THE CAR HAD BEEN TUCKED AWAY FOR A FEW YEARS, AND NOT DRIVEN ANYMORE DUE TO HER AGE. WHEN I GOT THE CAR, I DID A COMPLETE MAINTENANCE ON IT FORM BUMPER TO BUMPER. IT HAS THE ORIGINAL 389 4BBL ENGINE AND TURBO 400 TRANS. THE  CAR RUNS AND DRIVES REALLY GREAT. VERY SMOOTH AND QUIET. NO SMOKE, NO TICKS NO LEAKS. THE AIR CONDITIONING BLOWS COLD. IN MY OPINION, THE CAR IS VERY SOUND. I REALLY ENJOY DRIVING IT.

THE INTERIOR IS ALL ORIGINAL AND UNTOUCHED. THE DASH AND DASH PAD ARE IN GREAT CONDITION. THERE ARE SOME MINOR FLAWS THAT I CAN SEE. ONE, IS A FOUR INCH SPLIT ON THE LOWER SIDE DRIVERS SEAT IN THE SEAM AND THE WOOD GRAIN ON THE DASH HAS SOME SMALL SPLITS. THE REST OF THE INTERIOR LOOKS TO BE GOOD. NORMAL WARE AND TARE ARE PRESENT.

THE BODY IS IN GOOD CONDITION FOR ITS AGE. VERY SOLID. NO RUST THAT I CAN FIND. VERY SOLID FLOORS AND TRUNK. FROM WHAT I CAN TELL, IT'S BEEN REPAINTED SOME TIME IN ITS LIFE. THE ORIGINAL COLOR LOOKS TO HAVE BEEN A BLUE. THE PAINT ON IT NOW IS DECENT. IT DOES HAVE SOME CHIPS AND FADING, BUT OVERALL LOOKS GOOD.

THE BUMPERS ARE STRAIT AND NICE. BUT DOES HAVE SOME FADING AND LIGHT SURFACE RUST ON THE LOWER BOTTOMS. ALL OF THE CHROME TRIM IS THERE AND LOOKS PRETTY DECENT FOR ITS AGE. THE ONLY THING MISSING IS THE LETTER V ON THE DECK LID.

IN MY OPINION, I BELIEVE THE CAR IS CLOSE TO A NUMBER 3 CONDITION. BUT OF COARSE YOU WILL NEED TO BE THE JUDGE. I HAVE TRIED TO DESCRIBE THE CAR AS BEST FROM WHAT I SEE AND KNOW. IT NOT PERFECT IN ANY WAY, NOR DO I MAKE ANY CLAIMS THAT IT IS. ITS MY OPINION, THE CAR IS IN GOOD SHAPE FOR ITS AGE.

IF YOUR INTERESTED IN THE CAR, PLEASE FEEL FREE TO EMAIL ME ANY QUESTIONS YOU MIGHT HAVE OR SEND ME A NUMBER AND ILL BE HAPPY TO CHAT WITH YOU.

A $500.00 NON REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT IS DUE AT THE CLOSE OF SALE. THE BALANCE IS DUE WITHIN 5 DAYS. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ALL YOUR FUNDS IN ORDER BEFORE YOU MAKE ANY OFFERS. ALSO CONSIDER ANY SHIPPING COST YOU MIGHT HAVE. THE CAR IS SOLD AS IS WHERE IS. NO WARRANTY OF ANY KIND  IS NEITHER  EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED. THE CAR IS ALSO FOR SALE LOCALLY, SO I RESERVE THE RIGHT TO END THE SALE AT ANY TIME. THANKS FOR YOU TIME AND FOR LOOKING.

Junkyard Gem: 2004 Pontiac Vibe GT

Fri, Jun 26 2020

The New United Motor Manufacturing plant in Fremont, California, built Toyota-derived machinery — badged as Toyotas, Chevrolets, Geos, and Pontiacs— from 1984 through 2010, and some of the very last vehicles that left the assembly line were Pontiac Vibes. The Vibe, sibling to the Toyota Matrix, mostly served as a ho-hum transportation appliance and/or fleet car, but a factory-hot-rod GT version could be purchased. Today's Junkyard Gem is one of those rare GTs, complete with the nearly unheard-of six-speed manual transmission, found in a self-service yard in northeastern Colorado. The regular Vibe had 123 or 130 horsepower, depending on the number of driven wheels, but the Vibe GT got the same 1.8-liter 2ZZ engine that went into the Celica GT-S. 180 horsepower, which was enough to make the 2,800-pound Vibe GT keep up with the 3,108-pound/215-horse Chrysler PT Cruiser Turbo that year. Sadly, no race series pitting Vibe GTs against PT Cruiser Turbos and Chevy HHR SSs on road courses ever materializedÂ… but it's not too late. The Vibe GT has something you couldn't get in a PT Cruiser or Chevy HHR, though: a six-speed manual transmission as standard equipment. In fact, the six-speed was the only transmission offered in the early Vibe GTs (an automatic became an option later on). You'll find plenty of three-pedal econoboxes from this era, because they were significantly cheaper than their slushbox-equipped counterparts, but the Vibe GT had plenty of competition from sportier-looking cars with manual transmissions in 2004. Not many were sold. This car is covered with nasty dents from golf-ball-sized hail (all too common in High Plains Colorado), so it may have been an insurance total that nobody wanted at auction. Sold in Wyoming, will be crushed in an adjacent state. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings. Fuel for the soul. Toyota had right-hand-drive Matrixes brought over to Japan from Canada, but a NUMMI-built version of the Vibe could be purchased there for a few years as well. This was the Voltz, and its advertising seems notably frantic even by the standards of Japanese car commercials.

Junkyard Gem: 1968 Pontiac Catalina sedan

Wed, Aug 14 2019

During the late 1960s, General Motors ruled the American car landscape, growing so dominant that the federal government considered antitrust action to break up the company. The General offered sporty Corvettes and muscular GTOs and rugged pickups and opulent Fleetwoods, sure, but the fat part of the sales numbers came from the bread-and-butter full-sized sedans and coupes, which boasted superior engineering and modern-looking styling; in 1967 alone, the Chevrolet Division moved 972,600 full-sized cars, and that's not even counting the 155,100 full-sized Chevy station wagons that year. Pontiac, Buick and Oldsmobile sold the same big cars with division-specific engines and bodywork, and they flew off the showroom floors. For 1968, the entry-level full-sized car from Pontiac was the Catalina, and I've found an example of the most affordable version of the most affordable big Pontiac for 1968, discarded in a northeastern Colorado wrecking yard about 50 miles south of Cheyenne, Wyoming. A '68 GM full-sized coupe, convertible, or even a four-door hardtop might be worth the cost and effort of a restoration, but a no-options base-trim-level post sedan with rust and plenty of body filler just won't get many takers these days. Like so many vehicles that sit outside for decades on the High Plains, this one is full of rodent nests. I wouldn't want to work on the interior of this car without a respirator and a lot of work with a shop-vac, because hantavirus is a significant danger in these parts. Alfred Sloan's plan to offer a stepladder of prestige for GM buyers, in which your first new car was a Chevrolet and you moved up through Pontiac, Oldsmobile, and Buick until you became sufficiently prosperous for Cadillac ownership, worked brilliantly for decades. In 1968, the Catalina was a notch above its Impala sibling on the Snob-O-Meter, with the sedan starting at $3,004 (about $22,600 in 2019 dollars). In fact, the V8-equipped 1968 Chevrolet Impala sedan listed at $3,033, and the Oldsmobile Delmont 88 went for $3,146, so the lines were beginning to blur between the relative positions of the lower-end GM divisions by this time. The base engine in the 1968 Catalina was a 400-cubic-inch (6.5 liter) V8 rated at 265 horsepower and enough torque to tow an aircraft carrier.

A pair of Mitsubishis, the Mazda CX-30 and electric incentives | Autoblog Podcast #673

Fri, Apr 9 2021

This week's Autoblog Podcast features Editor-in-Chief Greg Migliore and Consumer Editor Jeremy Korzeniewski as they debate the merits of the redesigned Subaru BRZ and Toyota 86 coupes and whether or not they are distinctive and powerful enough to attract buyers. The duo spends some time discussing ongoing EV and infrastructure legislation before turning their attention to a trio of crossovers. Greg muses about the 2021 Mazda CX-30 before Jeremy talks about the refreshed 2022 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross and completely redesigned Outlander. We get nostalgic as we remember the dearly departed Pontiac GTO before wrapping the podcast up by making one more suggestion to a longtime listener who is shopping for a vehicle to replace her aging Honda Pilot.
