I have for sale a very good running and driving 1963 Pontiac Bonneville convertible. I purchased the car from the original owner of 50 years. This Bonneville comes with the original invoice and Pontiac Inspecto-Plate. The 389 engine starts right up and runs strong with automatic trans that works well. The car rides nicely also. The odometer reads 71217. The power top works well and is in good condition. Nice top boot included.
The original interior is in remarkable condition for its age. The interior is fairly rare with bucket seats, factory console, and floor shift automatic. The car also has the factory manifold vacume guage that works. The driver's seat has a couple of rips/seam separations and the dash has the common (4) cracks. The front/reat of the dash is very good. The guages are clear. The carpet is worn. The door panels are really good and the back seat is very good. The rear seat side panels are good too. The underside of the top is nice.
The car has power steering and power brakes that work well. Good glass. The chrome is presentable and the stainless is too. The rear bumper does have a shallow dent. The engine sounds good and I have seen no leaks. The automatic trans shifts well and brakes are good. The car has manual windows that work. The radial tires are roadworthy and I have driven the car several times this summer with no problems.
The body is pretty good for 50 years old, but the rear quarters have had past repair. I am no bodyman, but I can see evidence of repair. The trunk floor has also been attended to in the past, but seems solid. The driver's side floor pan also has a small patch present. The balance of the floors and frame appear to be very good. The bottom edges of the rockers appear very good. The frame does have 1 to 1 1/2 inch holes present on the outer surface of the frame rail just in front of each rear wheel. This area does seem very solid there though. The car does ride well. Underside has the usual surface rust and some scaling.
Everything on the car is currently working except the clock. The radio works, as does: wipers, battery charge guage, fuel guage, horn, headlights and dims, all turn signals and their green arrow indicators, brake lights, heater and defroster and 3-speed blower, oil pressure guage, temp guage, speedometer and odometer. The radio is a JVC stereo cassette. I have not tried the cassette. Forgive me if I have ommitted any small feature either working or not.
Overall, this is a very useable and enjoyable 1963 Pontiac Bonneville convertible that runs and drives well. The car looks great with its white body and teal-colored interior, especially with the top down and the soft convertible boot snapped on. The car has plenty of power and sounds and rides good. The real wood in the dash is even in fair shape. A good 60's Pontiac convertible driver.
Please feel free to ask any questions. Personal inspection is available and encouraged. Sold As-Is.

General Motors Recall List
Wed, Oct 22 2014It seems General Motors can't go more than a few weeks without issuing a major recall. Since the initial ignition lock recall on February 10, over 25 million vehicles have been recalled for defects. It seems General Motors can't go more than a few weeks without issuing a major recall. Since the initial ignition lock recall on February 10, over 25 million vehicles have been recalled for defects. We used the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration recall list to compile a snapshot of all the GM vehicles recalled in the last two months. NHTSA also provides a search engine that allows owners to search for recalls on their vehicle. An automotive company must do everything in their power to notify its customers when a recall is issued on a vehicle. If you own any of the following vehicles and you have questions regarding your car, you can contact Chevrolet at 1-866-694-6546, GMC at 1-866-996-9463, Buick at 1-800-521-7300 and Cadillac at 1-866-982-2339. Or check out General Motor's recall site. Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or go to www.safercar.gov. Here's a brief summery of the other vehicles currently under recall: July 26 – 414,333 cars affected NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V447000 Models under recall: Certain model year 2011-2012 Buick LaCrosse, Regal and Chevrolet Camaro, as well as certain 2010-2012 Cadillac SRX, Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain vehicles, equipped with power height adjustable driver and passenger seats. Problem: In the affected vehicles, the bolt that secures the driver's and passenger's power front seat height adjuster may fall out causing the seat to drop suddenly to the lowest vertical position. Consequence: If the driver's seat unexpectedly drops, the distraction and altered seat position may affect the drivers' control of the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash. Solution: Dealers will replace the height adjuster shoulder bolts, free of charge. July 14 – 16,939 cars affected NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V341000 Models under recall: Certain model year 2011 Cadillac CTS vehicles manufactured October 18, 2010, to June 2, 2011. Problem: In the affected vehicles, vibrations from the drive shaft may cause the vehicle's roll over sensor to command the roof rail air bags to deploy. Consequence: If the roof rail air bags deploy unexpectedly, there is an increased risk of crash and injury to the occupants.
Question of the Day: Most degraded car name?
Fri, May 27 2016When Ford came up with a not-so-sporty version of the Pinto and slapped Mustang badges on it in 1974, that was a low point for the Mustang name. When Chrysler applied the venerable Town & Country name on perfectly functional but unglamorous minivans, it saddened many of us. But perhaps the biggest demotion for a once-proud model came when, in 1988, General Motors imported a misery-enhancing Daewoo from Korea and called it the Pontiac LeMans. The original Pontiac LeMans was a great-looking midsize car with fairly advanced (for the time) suspension design and engine options including potent V8s and a screaming overhead-cam straight-six. The Daewoo-based Pontiac LeMans was a cramped, shoddy hooptie that served only to ruin the LeMans name forever, while stealing sales from the Suzuki-based Chevrolet Sprint. Sure, using the once-respected Monterey name on the Mercurized Ford Freestar was bad, but Mercury didn't have long to live at that point. I say the downward spiral of the LeMans name was the most agonizing in automotive history. What do you think? Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party. The U-2 spy plane needs high-performance cars to help land
Thu, Oct 15 2015Typically, aircraft deploy their landing gear from three main points. Most military aircraft, for example, deploy two gears at the back and one forward, like a tricycle. Some civilian aircraft flip the layout, with two in front and one in back - tail-draggers. The U-2 Dragon Lady is wildly different than any of these. With a 103-foot wingspan but a body that's just 63-feet long, the layout of the U-2 makes a traditional landing setup infeasible. Instead, the U-2 utilizes a pair of wheels, one up front and one in back. With such a bizarre layout, landings are so tough that since the U-2's earliest flights at Area 51, the US Air Force has used high-performance chase cars to guide the pilot down safely. The landing process isn't over there, though. As this video from Sploid shows, balancing out the aircraft to fit the detachable "pogos" – think training wheels for spy planes – is a comical procedure requiring a number of airman using their full body weight to even out the U-2. This video also recaps some of the great vehicles that have served as chase vehicles for this legendary spy plane. They include Chevrolet El Caminos, and the Fox-body Ford Mustangs so favored by the California Highway Patrol. For the last several years, the USAF has utilized products from General Motors, using fourth-generation Chevy Camaros, before switching over to the Pontiac GTO and most recently, the awesome Pontiac G8. It's fair to say that if you're a gearhead in the Air Force, this is the job you want. Check out the video, embedded up top.
