2005 Pontiac Vibe GT Mulholland. This Car was custom built by Dennis Mecham for display at the 2004 SEMA show. (google it, there is photos of it in the convention hall lobby) The same Dennis Mecham of the famous Macho TA's, MSE Trans am, Mecham Trans ams and lastly Mecham Design, Performance. The GT Mulholland is #1 of 1 built and was the Design exercise of Dennis and Pontiac to highlight the second generation of Vibes and his long standing relationship with Pontiac.

In the career of Dennis Mecham this GT Mulholland is significant in that this is the LAST car Dennis built and put his label on. I purchased the car directly from Dennis after he owned it and used it on the show circuit for the first 3 years, it was his personal car. I am the second owner since 2008. It has been strictly a weekend run about and has always been in the garage next to my Macho TA #16. The car handles superbly, just as Dennis intended, it is wonderful fun to drive, glued to the road with brand new BF Goodrich KDW's and there will never be another one next to you at the stop light!

Below is a list of the modifications done to the car in preparation for the show events:

EXTERIOR

*Hood-Mecham Functional Multiport Extractor Pods on OE hood

*Spoiler-Mecham Mulholland Functional Rear Spoiler

*Paint-PPG Two tone in Bright Silver Metallic Pearl with Candy Gold and Tangerine Sweeps with Lime green accent strips

*Shifter-TRD Short Shift

SUSPENSION

*TVS system of Hollow Core Sway Bars, Performance Springs and polished engine bay brace w/ camber plates by Hotchkis Tuning

BRAKES

*Front and Rear Rotors by-Power Slot plus

*Brake Pads-Hawk

WHEELS / TIRES

*Wheels-Exclusive TSW RIB in 19X8 in Hyper Silver

*Tires-BF Goodrich G-Force KDW in 245/35ZR19

Dennis said just these mods alone were close to $20K, the original window sticker on the car was $23K

Overall mechanically the car is like new with all the available factory options you could get on a GT, it has only 38,000 miles and has used synthetic oil since new. With all the mods and the available bigger GT motor it has an estimated 200 hp.

The only real flaw in the car is there is a bit of fading in the PPG Tangerine paint most notability on the rear hatch where it was exposed to AZ. sunlight through a garage window while stored at Dennis's home (note picture) plus a couple of touch up's on the red and silver paint. Currently I have the cold air intake off the car and have the factory intake on in order to pass CA smog, the cold air intake will go with the car including the advertising/sponsor board that was made for the show events. Please call with any questions

This 93-car Iowa auction is like a Big 3 classic muscle museum

Tue, Aug 27 2019

Bill "Coyote" Johnson has been buying cars since high school and has amassed a collection totaling 113 vehicles, according to NBC 6 News. But time has changed his motivations and priorities, and he's decided to auction 93 of those cars, many of which are classic muscle from Ford, Chevrolet, Dodge, Plymouth and Pontiac. The megasale will take place Sept. 14, 2019, in Red Oak, Iowa, at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds. A 1969 Plymouth Road Runner infected Coyote with a love for Detroit muscle when he was just a teenager, and his desire quickly turned into an obsession. He's spent the past 40 years finding, buying and working on a variety of makes and models. Unlike some collectors, Coyote didn't discriminate against certain brands and has rides from each of the Big 3 automakers. Included in the auction are Camaros, Satellites, Super Bees, Chargers, Challengers, Barracudas, Coronets, GTOs, Mustangs, Cutlasses and others. Possibly the most intriguing aspect of the auction is that all of these cars will be sold as-is with no reserve. Many of them will need work, depending on quality standards, but this seems like a golden opportunity to find a classic car without leaving a bank account in shambles.  The auctions are open for bidding online now, and the full auction will take place on September 14. Check out the full listings and bid at VanDerBrink Auctions.

Best and Worst GM Cars

Thu, Apr 7 2022

Oh yes, because we just love receiving angry letters from devoted Pontiac Grand Am enthusiasts, we have decided to go there. Based on a heated group Slack conversation, the topic came up about the best and worst GM cars. First of all time, and then those currently on sale, and then just mostly a rambling discussion of Oldsmobiles our parents and grandparents owned (or engineered). Eventually, three of us made the video above. Like it? Maybe we can make more. Many awesome GM cars are definitely going unmentioned here, so please let us know your bests and worsts in the comments below. Mostly, it's important to note that this post largely exists as a vehicle for delivering the above video that dives far deeper into GM's greatest hits and biggest flops, specifically those from the 1980s and 1990s. What you'll find below is a collection of our editors identifying a best current and best-of-all-time choice, plus a worst current and worst-of-all-time choice. Comprehensive it is not, but again, comments. -Senior Editor James Riswick Best Current GM Vehicle Chevrolet Corvette We were flying by the seats of our pants a bit in this first outing and my notes were similarly extemporaneous. When it came time to tie it all together on camera, I failed spectacularly. Thank the maker for text, because this gives me the opportunity to perhaps slightly better explain my convoluted reasoning. I chose the C8 Corvette because it's simply overwhelmingly good, and it's merely the baseline from which this generation of Corvette will be expanded.  While the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing (more on that in a minute) is an amazing snapshot of GM's current performance standing and its little sibling so enraptured me that I went out and bought one, their existence is fleeting. Corvette will live on; forced-induction Cadillac sport sedans, not so much. So while all three are amazing machines when viewed in a vacuum, the Corvette stands above them as both a reflection of GM's current performance credentials and a signpost of what is to come. So, given the choice between the C8 and the 5V-Blackwing right now, I'd choose the C8. In 10 years, when the Blackwing is no longer in production and Corvette is in its 9th generation? Well, that might be a different story. Now, just pretend I said something even remotely that coherent when we get to the part of the video where I try to make an argument for the 5-V Blackwing as best GM car I've ever driven. Or just laugh at me while I ramble incoherently.

2020 Porsche 911 Speedster spied with an angry driver

Wed, Feb 13 2019

Porsche gave us details and showed us a concept of the 911 Speedster at the Paris Motor Show. Today, we bring you spy shots of what appears to be the production version of that concept with a few changes on board. They're rather minimal modifications, but the Speedster's driver appears especially angry with our spy photographer as he extends his middle finger directly toward the camera. Sorry, not sorry, Mr. Test Driver. Public testing of pre-production cars always comes with photo risks, and Porsches tend to attract more attention than others. You'll notice what appears to be a Cayenne Coupe prototype we've previously spotted running around with the 911. The Speedster Concept we saw in Paris had epic retro mirrors and fuel cap on the front hood, but both those design touches are absent from this pre-production car. It's tougher to see, but we lost the vents in between the two humps, as well. Everything else appears to have made it to production-spec. We can't say we're surprised these concept car features probably won't show up on the production car, but it is a tad deflating. You'll notice the Speedster is based-off the 991.2 generation of 911 and not the new 992. Porsche did a similar thing when the 997 generation was coming to an end with a Speedster model paying tribute to that car's life. The chassis is said to utilize parts from the 911 GT3, and the wonderful naturally aspirated flat-six engine gets carried over from that car, too. Porsche didn't specify if power will be exactly the same as the GT3, but we'll be expecting about 500 horsepower and a 9,000 rpm redline. We were told the six-speed manual would be offered on the Speedster in Paris, too. Let's just say that we strongly approve of that combination. Production will be limited to only 1,948 cars and begin in the first half of this year. We'll expect a reveal with a full spec breakdown soon, possibly for the upcoming Geneva Motor Show.
