1965 PONTIAC TEMPEST POST COUPE 4 SPEED

I am the 3rd owner of this very solid Midwest car. I have owned this Fontaine Blue base model Tempest for almost 10 years. The Tempest originated in Colorado, then South Dakota. The previous owner drove it from SD to NJ in which it now resides. The car retains all its original sheet metal. The original 6 cyl engine was replaced with a 1966 OHC 230 with a Sprint 4bbl intake & carb along with a custom dual exhaust – No Y- pipe.
The three on the tree was upgraded to a Saginaw 4 on the floor. This upgrade included a new steering column to get rid of the nub from the column shift. I upgraded the power steering box to a mid 80’s Monte Carlo SS quick ratio box for modern road feel. A great improvement! All GM parts were used for all upgrades including 1965 GTO front & rear sway bars & 5 blade radiator fan.
This car has been well maintained all its life. The 12+ year old paint job is showing its age with a few bumps & bruises. The front bumper has been triple chrome plated. The rear bumper is original – notice no back up lights… an option for 1965. This car gets plenty of attention wherever it goes.
The Tempest sports 225/70/R14 Firestone Daytona 500 Radials on the original 14x6 Steel Wheels for a very comfortable ride. It handles great, even with 4 wheel drum brakes. Awesome drivability is achieved with a 3.08 open rear & Manual Trans.
The Interior is in very good shape. I had the original AM factory Delco radio converted to AM/FM with an input to use my ipod so I can listen to some good tunes while rowing through the gears. The Tempest has the original rubber floor mat – The base model did not come with carpet. The door panel speakers were installed by the previous owner. Dash pad was replaced and Temp gauge was added.
This summer the Tempest received a new front windshield. To my surprise the window channel was not rusted out – another benefit from residing 38+years in the mid west. This car has been a pleasure to own & drive.
Why am I selling? I used to drive my car about 3 times a week when the weather was nice to and from work. I now work in NYC and commute by train. It’s time to let someone else enjoy this beautiful Pontiac. Would you like to be the 4th owner? Any questions or to schedule a test drive – feel free to contact me. Thanks for looking.

Junkyard Gem: 1992 Pontiac Sunbird convertible, with extremely rad W25 Appearance Package

Sun, Dec 22 2019

Radwood has sparked a revival in the appreciation of goofy 1980s and 1980s automotive fashions, from neon-colored tape stripes to excessive TURBO badging to ads featuring horrifying Nagel-style women with radio faceplates instead of eyes. I see a lot of discarded cars that would have been ideal to bring to Radwood, and today's Junkyard Gem is even radder than, say, a purple Mercury Tracer Trio or a teal Chevy Beretta GT or even the elusive Dodge Daytona IROC R/T (yes, there were IROC Daytonas): a genuine Pontiac Sunbird SE convertible with the W25 Appearance Package and Bright White Star wheels. The W25 package got you a white Sunbird with kicky script badging, white wheels, and — if you opted for the optional 3.1-liter V6 — these candy-cane-influenced red-and-white displacement badges on the fenders. Now this is rad! The white interior got dirty fast, especially if the owner left the convertible top down, and these wheels were tough to keep clean for more than a few hours. This one appears to have spent many years sitting abandoned with the top down, judging by the completely trashed interior. The base engine for 1992 was the good old Cavalier four-banger, complete with 111 horsepower. This 3.1-liter engine made a respectable-for-1992 140 horses, for plenty of torque-steery, tire-squealy fun. As a J-Body car, the Sunbird was a sibling to the Chevrolet Cavalier in 1992 (the J-based Cadillac Cimarron, Oldsmobile Firenza, and Buick Skyhawk departed before the end of the 1980s). Starting in 1994, the Pontiac Sunfire replaced the Sunbird, continuing in production all the way through the demise of the J platform in 2005. This content is hosted by a third party. CNN chronicles young girl building Pontiac Fiero

Fri, 26 Oct 2012

At fourteen years of age, Kathryn DiMaria has already done what many self-proclaimed gearheads won't even attempt in their lifetimes. The Dearborn, Michigan teen is rebuilding a car from the ground up.
The intrepid youngster asked her parents when she was just twelve to start a Pontiac Fiero project, even offering to pony up all the funds herself. Father, Jerry DiMaria only expected the project to last a few months, but two years later, Kathryn is still at it. In this CNN video, the two are at Maker Faire (a DIY festival) rebuilding a 3.4-liter V6 engine out of a Chevrolet Camaro to replace the 2.8-liter mill found in the Fiero.
The whole family hast pitched in, with Kathryn's mother teaching her how to sew in order to complete the interior, father Jerry providing much of the technical know-how, and even her sister is chronicling Kathryn's progress through photos. Jerry even started a thread in a Fiero forum which has been live for two years and is now 22 pages long. Of the project, one forum member wrote, "welcome to the madness."

2013 Hurst Edition Trans Am

Mon, 13 May 2013

No, you didn't read our title wrong. This is a 2013 model year Trans Am, and yes, that is a Pontiac logo affixed to the front of the car. But don't bother dialing up your local General Motors dealership just yet. This is the new Hurst Edition Trans Am created by the Trans Am Depot located in Tallahassee, FL. Having spent a number of years restoring early Trans Am models, the crew at Trans Am Depot finally did what many Pontiac enthusiasts wish GM would have done - create a modern Trans Am using the fifth-generation Chevrolet Camaro.
As the former owner of a 1977 model, I've been wanting to check out Trans Am Depot ever since I first saw the company have American Choppers build a trio of motorcycles inspired by its Pontiac remakes. So I jumped at the chance to head to Florida's capital city to visit the shop and drive its latest creation, the new Hurst Edition Trans Am. As a collaboration with Hurst, this car made its debut at the 2012 SEMA Show and then popped up again on our radar with a cheesy yet perfectly fitting video back in March.
