Check out this SWEET 1950 Pontiac Chieftain. This was a friend of mines ride and baby. Its was restored by him and always garage kept! The pictures you see are just how it was when we pulled it out of his garage! This was a frame on resto. The paint is a beautiful straight black and has no flaws I can find. There are no dents, dings or scratches. It appears to be the original color also. The interior is done in a gray cloth and is new throughout. The headliner is new and the seats are like setting on your couch at home. It is wonderful to be drove around and setting in the back seat.  The dash is in great shape and is finished in a silver grey and shows very well. All Gauges and instruments on the dash functions as they should. The car has the Cool Push Button Factory Start. This slick ride is a 3 Speed on the column. The transmission shifts smooth and strong. The clutch is strong and very easy to push. The car drives true and straight. Its doesnt wonder all over the road like most old 50 cars do. Its has a fairly new set of Coker wide white tires with stock rims. The rims have been painted red to give it a nice accent of color. The Chrome is like new all over the car. The chrome has no dents on dings of any kind I can find. All headlights, Taillights, Signal lights, Interior Lights, Dash Lights, Etc. function as they should. The car is equipped with Factory Sun Visor and Fender Skirts. All the glass is clear with no clouding. The doors, trunk and engine hood shut solid. The car is equipped with the numbers matching SUPER DEPENDABLE Straight 8!! The engine is strong and runs like a champ!! It is so quite that you only hear the tires on the road. The engine compartment is detailed out. The engine is nicely repainted the factory green. The car is still on its original 6 volt system. It is equipped with new OLD style interstate battery. The car starts like a dream every time also. This ride will make some person a great driver / show car! Or it is ready for the WEST COAST and turn into a OLD SCHOOL LOW RIDER!! The odo is showing 91400 which we believe to be the actual miles. However we are selling it tmu due to how the DMV does titles now in the state of VA. Also due to its age. This ride is also equipped with new exhaust and is super quite. We have gone completely over this car in our shop and have found it to be a great solid ride. We can not think of a thing this sweet ride needs, other than a new good owner and great home as before!! If you have any further questions please feel free to e-mail us or call us at 540-537-1223. World's only 1964 Pontiac XP-833 Banshee coupe for sale by Kia dealer

Mon, Apr 20 2020

It seems like there has been a spate of especially odd car sales in the first part of this especially odd year, from the numerous barn finds and homebrew specials to the time capsule cars — like the BMW wrapped in a protective bubble for 23 years. Napoli Kia in Milford, Connecticut, brings us another, via Motor1. Len Napoli is the dealership principal and die-hard Pontiac maven; his father opened Napoli Pontiac in 1958, and Len held onto the franchise until the early 2000s, just before GM shuttered the brand that built excitement. Napoli got hold of the 1964 Pontiac Banshee XP-833 coupe concept, and put the car up for sale through his Kia dealership for $750,000. The exceptional price comes from the fact that Pontiac built two Banshee concepts in 1964, one this silver coupe with a red interior, the other a white roadster, making each concept a one-of-one collector car.      Motor Trend wrote a detailed piece on this one in 2013, the editorial tour hosted by Bill Collins, the Banshee's lead engineer. The short story is that GM exec John Z. DeLorean — yes, him —  gave approval to a small crew at Pontiac to create a two-seater sports car to compete with the Mustang, because GM had nothing to fend off the four-seat coupe that would sell one million units in just 18 months on the market. Collins and his team took inspiration from the 1963 Corvair Monza GT concept, working up a fiberglass body over a steel frame, with a 230-cubic-inch overhead-cam straight-six producing 165 horsepower and 216 pound-feet of torque, a four-speed manual transmission, and 9.5-inch drum brakes at all corners. The idea was that the XP-833 would be "an affordable and fun two-seat sports car," the concept demonstrating the base-model price leader offering a lengthy list of options for those who wanted more. The white roadster, in fact, fitted a 326 cubic-inch V8 under the hood. Rumor says that Chevrolet execs didn't like having another two-seater sports car in the GM fold, especially one with a fiberglass body that held weight down to 2,200 pounds. GM execs took one look at the two concepts in 1965 and shut the project down. The two XP-833s lived in a garage for years, Collins and his colleague Bill Killen getting permission to buy the cars from GM in 1973 before Collins left to help engineer the DeLorean DMC-12. It wasn't until just before Collins departed that the XP-333 got the name Banshee.

GM recalling 426,000 sedans over faulty transmission shift cable

Fri, 21 Sep 2012

General Motors is recalling some 426,240 sedans that may have a faulty transmission shift cable, according to a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration report this morning. The recall concerns a fault within four-speed automatic transmissions equipped on 2007-2010 Saturn Aura models, and 2008-2010 Chevrolet Malibu and Pontiac G6 models.
The report specifies that tabs on the transmission shift cable may fracture and separate. Such a fault could cause a discrepancy between the actual position of the transmission and the apparent position of the shift lever.
GM is currently working to notify owners of the vehicles in question, and dealers will check and replace shift cables free of charge. Scroll down to read the complete NHTSA report.

'We're not a hedge fund': Porsche plans to curtail speculators and flippers

Tue, May 30 2017

A sizable number of speculators view cars as an investment. Rare or unusual models are quickly snapped up and either parked for years or flipped for a profit. Cars from automakers like Porsche and Ferrari are more prone than others, and at least some people behind these models are getting a bit tired of it. While it's difficult to police what goes on after you sell a car, Porsche has some plans that might curtail the problem before it starts. Andreas Preuninger, the head of GT road-car development and the man behind the new 911 GT3, spoke to Car and Driver at a recent event. "I personally like to see my cars being used," he said. "That's what we build them for. They are just too good to be left to stand and collect dust." One recent example of this rampant speculation is the 911 R. While the special manual-only model sold for $185,950 when new, used versions were selling for nearly $1.3 million just months after it went on sale. While the car is a masterpiece and an instant classic, a good number will be parked and simply used as art and not the rolling testaments to the man/machine interface they were intended to be. The concern over valuations has become so fierce that some owners are upset that Porsche is offering the new 911 GT3 with a manual transmission, fearing that it may hurt the value of the 911 R. "When I said we're not a hedge fund, I'm talking to those people who are yelling at us for offering the manual transmission similar to the R," Preuninger said. "But if there are people wanting to buy cars like that, then as a company we should try to fulfill that, to meet that demand." It seems Porsche is keeping a close eye on who is flipping cars. Since there is often far more demand than supply with certain models, the German automaker has a name for every car before it's built. Buyers with bad reputations might not even make the wait list.
