This van was a blessing to my family. We were tight on money and our van had blown up. We needed something now and bought this van. It was our main family vehicle for about 2 years. We were finally able to buy something newer and thought we would keep this one for a spare. I haven't driven it since last October I got in it about 2 weeks ago and it started right up(it hadn't been started since it was parked in October). We live in north-central Ohio and this van went to PA and WV many times with no problems. I am listing what I know is wrong with it first. We charged the A/C when we first bought it. It worked for about 2 days and quit. it must have a slow leak. Check engine light and tcs and sometimes the abs light have been on since we bought it. The electric fans have a manual switch to turn them on this is not a problem just a hassle if you drive in traffic on a hot day. It originally had an onboard air compressor which doesnot work. I'm sure the A/C and air compressor could be fixed they just were not that important to me. Now the good stuff: We figured we were keeping this van so we put a chunk of money in it about a year ago. Front rotors, calipers, pads, 2 outer tie rod ends, control arm bushings, front bearings, alignment, 4 tires, fuel pump, and battery are all new. We put about 3,000 miles on it since then. The abs system was replaced with a rebuilt system. The power side door works fine. It has keyless entry and you can open the side door with the remote. Has a security system that works fine. Rear windshield wiper works fine. The body is very solid just a couple very minor rust spots here and there. The engine was replaced not by me. It has about 100,000 miles on it. It has 5 full sized steel rims. The other side door is manual. I really hate giving this van up but we don't use it and I think it has lots of life left in it. I welcome any questions you may have. It's actually easier to email me with questions, if you want to talk personally send your phone number. It's much easier for me to call you as we have no set schedule and are in and out alot. Thanks I hope I've covered everything. God's blessings.

Watch as Hot Rod goes from El Paso to LA the hard way
Tue, 21 Feb 2012There are few things simultaneously more romantic and idiotic than taking a road trip in a beaten-down heap of a car. Trust us. We know. David Freiburger and Mike Finnegan of Hot Rod Magazine fame recently undertook an epic trip from El Paso, Texas to Los Angeles with the express goal of doing so for under $1,500, including the purchase price of a vehicle, food, lodging, repairs and, most importantly, fuel. With this in mind, the duo settled on a 1972 Pontiac Catalina for a lofty $650. Hilarity ensues.
Realizing that no one actually wants a Catalina sulking around the shop, Freiburger and Finnegan put the car up for auction on eBay Motors the instant they had the title in hand. By the time they rolled into Hot Rod HQ, the vehicle sold for a little over $500.
The video is part of a new series called Roadkill that should document similar adventures. Keep your eyes peeled for more calamity-soaked clips in the near future. In the meantime, hit the jump to check it out yourself.
Trans Am Depot teases 2014 GTO
Mon, 24 Jun 2013Here comes the Judge. Court is in session. The verdict is in. How many more tired clichés can we come up with? It hardly seems to matter, because it's happening: Trans Am Depot has announced via the teaser video below that it is launching a 2014 GTO, complete with Carousel Red (bright orange, really) paint and full Judge badging.
The car is based on Trans Am Depot's 6T9 Goat, which, in case you don't get the reverential references, is meant to mimic the look of the 1969 Pontiac GTO. As with the company's other cars -including the 2013 Hurst Edition Trans Am we recently drove - the GTO will be based on the current Chevy Camaro, which means two doors, V8 engines and rear-wheel drive, just like the muscle cars of days past.
As for actual details of what's under the 2014 GTO's hood, we're completely left hanging. We'd expect some sort of power adder (turbo, supercharger or possibly some other form of a highly massaged version of the Camaro's V8), and we certainly know that GM has any number of hi-po crate engines to choose from.
This 1927 Oakland is a minimalist hot rod
Fri, 21 Feb 2014There are hundreds of American automakers that sprung up during the dawn of the automotive era, only to fold into obscurity or get gobbled up by what would eventually become the Big Four (yes, we're counting AMC here). Oakland is one such company, which was the forbearer for General Motors' Pontiac division. Sold until 1931, you simply don't see Oakland-badged cars anymore. Unless, that is, you know Brian Bent.
Bent drives a 1927 Oakland that still rides on wooden wheels. Its original wooden wheels, from the sound of it. That makes this anachronist and his Oakland the perfect subject for a Petrolicious video. Like many of the cars highlighted by Petrolicious, this old Oakland has had some work done to it, featuring a Pontiac flathead engine that's been pushed forward and a clutch pack built by Bent.
Take a look below for a closer look at this rare and fascinating Oakland.
