SELLER REMARKS

Pure Pontiac through and through, this absolutely incredible 1963 Pontiac LeMans is a late-model GTO in disguise. An awesome example of Pontiac Pro-Touring muscle, it's got finesse, brutal horsepower, and incredible good looks, and with more than $157,000 in build receipts, you know it's off-the-charts amazing.

It's kind of fitting that the basis of the first GTO was filled with the hardware from the last, and everything in-between is from the Excitement Division as well. The Le Mans bodywork never looked this good from the factory, and the slick little 2-door post coupe makes a fine foundation for a modern muscle car. The inky black sheetmetal almost looks shrink-wrapped over the mechanicals, and with the bumper tucked in close to the body, that hood scoop borrowed from a Super Duty Tempest, a 1970 GTO chin spoiler, and a ducktail spoiler from a '69 Firebird, there's plenty of Pontiac performance DNA to go around. Finish quality is quite good, with straight bodywork and a minimum of frills, although they kept the chrome details to make it sparkle. Note the fender ornaments above the headlights, the traditional Pontiac split grille, and the cool Pontiac chevrons on the quarter panels, all of which mean you can find something new to appreciate every time you look at the car.

The red leather interior was plucked from a 2006 GTO, including the leather bucket seats that offer about ten zillion adjustments so it's easy to get comfortable. They're also heavily bolstered for the kind of performance this car can deliver, and they were seamlessly blended into the early car's interior. A tilt column holds a 3-spoke steering wheel that frames a full array of Auto Meter gauges in a shiny billet panel that looks old but is brand new. A fabricated center console holds the GTO's 6-speed shifter as well as the Pioneer touch-screen entertainment/navigation system, controls for the A/C, and a pair of cup holders that are surprisingly useful. New black carpets recall the original design, and you'll note that the door panels were custom made to eliminate the window cranks, as this car now has power windows. The trunk is also expertly upholstered with simple gray fabric and you can easily see the mini tubs that were installed to handle the oversized meats underneath.

The hardware on this car is what is really impressive. The engine is an LS2/LS3 hybrid using the best of both worlds. A new Comp Cams camshaft went in, along with a set of ported heads and an upgraded intake manifold just a few months ago. On the dyno, it makes 525 horsepower, and considering how much lighter this Le Mans is than a late-model GTO, you know performance is explosive. Ultra-clean wiring and plumbing make the engine bay a showpiece and wherever possible, OEM equipment was retained to maximize reliability. And lest you think that this is just a straight-line machine, please take a look underneath where you'll find a full C4 Corvette suspension that includes a stout Dana 44 independent setup out back. Coil-over shocks, a custom dual exhaust system, and impressive attention to detail make this a car that's not only fast, but reliable, comfortable, and easy to drive every day. Big 4-wheel disc brakes keep everything under control, and even those giant chrome Corvette alloys carry Pontiac center caps for the perfect finishing touch. Staggered 245/40/18 front and 285/35/19 rear Kumho radials fit nicely inside the Poncho's fenders.

This car is amazing in every possible way, and for the Pontiac fan, it represents a spectacular expression of Pontiac performance that can't be missed. Documented with thousands of dollars in build receipts, it's a car that's destined to generate some attention. Call today!

Saturn Vue ignition switch leads to new group of GM recalls totaling 312k

Fri, 08 Aug 2014

General Motors has another spate of recalls to announce. This time they cover 312,280 vehicles worldwide, including 269,041 of in the US, in a total of six campaigns. In 2014, the automaker has recalled 29,079,765 vehicles worldwide, with 25,754,356 of those in the US.
The largest among them covers 215,243 units of the Saturn Vue from 2002-2004 model years worldwide, 202,115 in the US. It's possible for the for the key to be removed even when the ignition isn't in the OFF position. The company knows of two crashes and one injury caused by this problem. Dealers are checking the parts and replacing the ignition cylinder and key set, if necessary.
Next is 72,826 models worldwide (48,059 vehicles in the US) of the 2013 Cadillac ATS four-door sedan, 2013 Buick Encore and 2013 Chevy Trax in Canada. It's possible that the for lap belt pretensioner to retract but not to lock, which could increase occupant movement during a crash. Both front, outboard lap belt pretensioners are being replaced, and a stop-sale is in effect on unsold models until the problem is repaired. There are no known crashes or injuries, though.

Junkyard Gem: 2007 Pontiac G6 GT Convertible

Sun, Jan 8 2023

GM's Pontiac Division sold its first convertibles during the 1927 model year (just a year after the division's creation), then proceeded to offer memorable drop-tops for most of the following 83 years. The best-selling convertible to bear Pontiac badges during our current century was the retractable-hardtop-equipped G6, available from the G6's introduction in 2006 through the second-to-last model year of 2009 (the Sunfire convertible was available just through 2000, while the Firebird convertible vanished with the demise of the slow-selling Firebird itself after 2002). Here's one of those G6 GT convertibles, found in a Denver-region boneyard after a crash ended its driving career. Mashed right front, popped airbags. This sort of damage might have been worth repairing in 2009, but not today. The 2007 G6 was available as a coupe, sedan, or convertible. All the convertibles had the GT trim level and the 3.5-liter V6 and its 224 horsepower. The MSRP on this car was $28,750 (about $42,325 in 2022 dollars), making it the most expensive G6. The power hardtop roof folded up into the trunk, leaving 1.8 cubic feet of trunk storage space with the top down. This Karmann-designed roof system made the interior much quieter than that of a traditional soft-top convertible. All G6s were built at Orion Assembly in Michigan, where Chevy Bolts are born today. The G6 was built through the 2010 model year, making it one of the very last Pontiac models (the Vibe also made it to 2010, though it was really a Toyota Matrix). In hindsight, 2007 turned out to be an ominous year for GM.

Pontiac Firebird in latest Generation Gap scrap

Tue, 30 Sep 2014

Generation Gap is mining the Lingenfelter collection again this week to compare two very different interpretations of the Pontiac Firebird. An original 1968 example goes toe-to-toe with a 2010 Lingenfelter Trans Am to see whether the old man or the modern re-imagining takes the crown.
Being from the Lingenfelter collection, both cars are absolutely immaculate. The '68 packs a Pontiac 350-cubic-inch (5.7-liter) V8 with a claimed 320 horsepower and some classic, muscular style with a hood-mounted tach. Plus, it's painted in an understated shade of green that you don't usually see.
In the other corner is Lingenfelter's pumped-up take on the classic shape based on the modern Camaro, and this is just one of six concept versions ever made. It wears an eye-catching, vintage-inspired livery of blue with a white stripe package. Under its shaker hood is a 455-cubic-inch (7.5-liter) V8 with a reported 655 hp and 610 pound-feet of torque.
