1977 Pontiac Can Am Plus 2 Can Am Parts Cars on 2040-cars

US $7,000.00
Year:1977 Mileage:100000 Color: rust but the floor boards are in great shape
Location:

This auction is for a 1977 Pontiac Can Am and two Can Am parts cars plus many extra parts. I purchased the car from the man in California that bought it new. It is complete and in good shape but it needs to be restored. I have done nothing with the car but move it into the shop and start to clean it up. It has one small rust spot on the right rear quarter just below the louver window about the size of a half dollar (just bubbled up). There is some rust on the right front corner of the hood, not bad, certainly repairable but one of the parts cars has an excellent hood. There's a little rust staining around the back window that needs to be cleaned up. The interior needs to be redone. Its all original and it needs repair. The padded dash is cracked, as all of them are. The following is what the original owner had done to it recently:

" Less than 5k on Dave Smith Olds Performance rebuild Dyno'd at 300+ hp. Edlebrock performer manifold, cam, upgraded rocker arms, ported heads, headers with true dual exhaust (2 cats and double hump trans crossmember. Turbo 350 trans with less than 10k on it. Rebuilt rochester carb from Summit racing ready to install."

So mechanically she's in pretty good shape. This is a 403 Olds engine car, one of 43 reportedly made that year. The tires hold air and have lots of tread but are dry rotted. The battery was old and finally dead this year.

The parts cars: They are both Can Ams. One is another 403 Olds engine car and the other a 400. They are relatively complete and roll around. One has been wrecked at some point and has an earlier model Lemans front clip on it. Both have lots of parts stored inside. The 403 parts car has some exterior rust but the floor boards are in great shape. The other car has some exterior rust as can be seen in the pictures. The 400 car drove up on my trailer when I picked it up in Iowa at -10 below zero. The 403 car I winched up on the trailer.

Extra parts: There are two stripe kits, 1 GM NOS and 1 Stencil & Stripes after market. There are two instrument clusters with tachometers. There's a spare clock with surrounding bezel. There is a piece of a roll of Firethorn red upholstery and a larger roll of white to redo a white set of seats. One of the parts cars had a white interior. There is a front header panel off of a Grand Lemans. There are one or two sets of extra wheels. Trim pieces. Heater/ac controls. Mechanical pieces.  Power window motors. And a bunch of other stuff... Yes, there's a lower quarter panel new in a box too.

All three cars have titles and other documentation. I'm sure I'm forgetting somethings but that's it in a nutshell. I've come to the realization that I'll never have the time to restore one or two of these cars and so I am going to sell them. Yes, I'm probably going to lose my butt on this deal but that's the way it goes. So here's the opportunity to buy one that you can be driving around pretty quick with two parts cars to build another or mine of parts down the road.

Now for the business end of the deal: These cars are old and used and as such will sell "as is". Ask questions, we answer. We may not know the answer but we'll tell you so! Check our feedback, we tell it like it is. Look at the pictures and ask for more if you need them. The buyer will be responsible for picking them up or arranging shipping. I will be glad to assist the buyer or shipper in getting them safely loaded for transport. At the close of the auction we will require a $500 deposit through Paypal within 24 hours. The balance due can be paid in cash or by bank transfer within 72 hours. We would like the cars to be moved within 30 days but will work with the buyer should some extra time be needed. Please bid only if you can afford to pay. Let's keep this auction fun and easy for all concerned. The cars are for sale locally and we do reserve the right to end the auction should a local buyer purchase them. Thanks for looking and good luck with your bidding.

GM expands headlight recall to 180k Buicks and Pontiacs

Thu, Aug 20 2015

General Motors is issuing an expanded headlight module recall to include 180,504 examples in North America of the 2005 Buick LaCrosse (2008 model year pictured above) and 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix. Specifically, the campaign affects 159,584 of them in the US and 20,920 in Canada. When the part fails, the vehicles' low beams can stop working either intermittently or permanently. "GM is unable to confirm any crashes, injuries or fatalities related to this condition," the company said in a statement, and there's currently no permanent repair for the problem. For now, dealers will replace the headlamp module with a new example of the same part. The automaker first announced this campaign in November 2014 when it affected 316,357 examples globally of the 2006-09 Buick LaCrosse; 2006-2007 Chevy TrailBlazer and TrailBlazer EXT; 2006-2007 GMC Envoy and 2006 GMC Envoy XL; 2006-2007 Buick Rainier; 2006-2008 Saab 9-7X; and 2006-08 Isuzu Ascender. The prized golden 1965 Pontiac Hurst GeeTO Tiger is headed to auction

Sat, Apr 4 2020

Once upon a time, a Pontiac advertising executive named Jim Wangers created a countrywide contest with this gorgeous 1965 Pontiac Hurst GTO serving as the grand prize. The contest was centered around "GeeTO Tiger," a song by musical artists The Tigers. A 19-year-old took home the golden muscle car at the time, but now anybody can buy the rare car through an upcoming Mecum auction.  As a way to boost sales and awareness of the Pontiac GTO and its performance parts, Wangers partnered up with Royal Pontiac, George Hurst, and Petersen Publishing in 1965 to create a contest. Royal provided the car, Hurst dressed it up, and Petersen distributed the contest in publications across the country.  In order to participate, people were asked to provide a reason why they wanted the car and identify how many times the word "tiger" was used in the promotional song "GeeTO Tiger" (pronounced G-Tee-Oh) by The Tigers. A 19 year-old kid named Alex Lampone from West Allis, Wisconsin, won the contest and took delivery of this jazzed-up GTO at the 1965 NHRA Indy Nationals.  This content is hosted by a third party. The Tigers - GeeTO Tiger The prize car was completely kitted out and described by Wangers as "the nicest GTO you could put your hands on." It had more than 28 factory options, including a black cordova top, power windows, power steering, power brakes, a tilt steering wheel, a power driver's seat, dual-speed windshield wipers, a custom sport steering wheel, a rally gauge cluster, a push-button AM/FM radio with power antenna, and a Verba phonic rear speaker. What makes it stand out is the Hurst-inspired gold theme, which includes gold paint, gold mag wheels, and a gold-plated Hurst Shifter. Under the hood, this GTO has a Tri-Power 389 V8 engine that pairs with a four-speed manual transmisison. It also has a 3.55 Safe-T-Track rear axle and dual exhaust. Throughout the years, this car has exchanged hands many times and has undergone a few changes. It's been repainted, and the engine has also been rebuilt, but Mecum says it's otherwise highly original. Ony 59,000 miles have turned over on the odometer.  The GeeTO Tiger Pontiac is scheduled to go up for auction in Indianapolis this June. Visit Mecum for more information. 1970 Firebird Trans-Am with front-mid-engine to be immortalized as a Hot Wheels car

Mon, Nov 30 2020

Each year, the Hot Wheels Legends Tour scours the country to find the coolest real-life cars and chooses one to be made into a $1 diecast toy. Earlier this month, the search came to an end when Riley Stair's heavily modified 1970 Pontiac Firebird Trans-Am won the honors. In a normal year, the Hot Wheels Legends Tour would visit multiple cities, holding a car show where judges would select one winner for that stop. At SEMA, each city's winner would then compete for the top spot. However, due to the coronavirus pandemic, this year the contest was held virtually and globally. And since SEMA was canceled too, the finale was held on the "Jay Leno's Garage" YouTube channel with Leno, Snoop Dogg, Gabriel Iglesias, and Hot Wheels designers as judges. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings. What set the Firebird apart was, for starters, its front-mid-engine layout. Its LSX V8 was pushed so far back into the firewall that one bank of exhaust headers had to flow forward before curving around the front of the engine to a side-dump. Of course, all of this was custom fabricated, like the roll cage and front tube frame, with professional-grade welds. The body was also heavily modified, flared and channeled to give it a mean stance. But it's the custom Ohlins suspension with independent rear that give it its track-ready look. Perhaps most impressively, this car, which could go toe-to-toe against (and frankly exceed many) six-figure pro builds at SEMA, was built in the side yard of Stair's parents' house. Aside from body and paint, this was a shadetree job. Stair says it took a couple of years, devoting nearly every night and weekend to transforming a rusty and dented Firebird into his dream machine. Other finalists included a Street Freak-style 1969 Corvette from Florida, cartoony 1959 Chevy Ute nicknamed the "Hulk-amino", Rocket Bunny-style Cayman, 1,000-horsepower Chevy Apache, V8-powered Mini Cooper, stanced Fiat 126 from Germany, chopped VW Brasilia from Mexico, and a race-ready 1976 Hillman Imp from the U.K. Cars were judged on creativity, authenticity, and built-not-bought spirit. Look for the Trans-Am to appear in the 2021 Hot Wheels lineup. Related Video:   Featured Gallery Hot Wheels Legends Tour 2020 View 16 Photos Toys/Games Pontiac Coupe Performance Classics
