i have way too much $$$ invested in this thing and don't want to put any more into. if anyones interested, ask away, i'm not sugar coating anything.

parts not on car:
NOS rear bumper, rechromed front(driver quality), good front fenders, 1 door, trunk lid, stainless quarter window trim, nos "lemans" and "350" grill emblems, nos front bumperettes, and nice header panel emblem.

chassis:
8.5" 4:10 posi rear with factory bolt in axles, spohn performance sway bars front and rear with adj. upper and solid lower rear control arms. has poly bushings in front end, QA1 single adj rear shocks, moog front/rear coil springs, 2" drop spindles, brake system rebuilt with new rotors, calipers, 11" rear drums, parking brake cables, nitro 555 drag radials, 325/50 rear and 275/60 front with 15x10 and 15x8 bassett wheels, old griffin alum rad, with ford electric fans, undercarriage was painted a while back with POR15, chassis never separated from body though. originally a GA car and the red paint is original. battery was relocated to the trunk and has a new windshield.

trans is a tko600 with the .64 5th gear, steel flywheel, dennys driveshaft, hydraulic throwout bearing, ram clutch.

engine is a .035 400(it's NOT a 557 block) with 87cc edelbrock heads 310cfm, JE pistons(real JE), eagle rods, decked to -.005, balanced, pete jackson gear drive, comp cams solid roller, harlan sharp 1.65 roller rockers, performer rpm manifold, 825 mighty demon, 8qt milodon oil pan, tomahawk valley pan, cast valve covers, holley electric fuel pump, mallory unlit ignition system, hedman hustler headers, 2.5" x pipe exhaust with pypes violator mufflers and mandrel bent tail pipes, mini starter.

black interior has firebird front buckets that need recovered(they are white and foam isn't great), new carpet, nice dash pad, auto meter tach, oil pressure, and water temp gauges, AEM air/fuel gauge, new rear package tray, headliner has 1 tear in rear and front seat belts aren't great.

just about everything was rebuilt at one time or another during my 13yrs of ownership. somethings multiple times. antique plated and road legal in PA.

the trunk floor is rusted with holes, but is still mostly solid, one spot on lower left quarter panel that has a small hole rusted through, and the panel between the rear window and trunk lid has a couple small holes in it that i put jb weld on when i got it. i welded patch panels in a couple spots in the floorboards, all the loose undercoating was scrapped off and repainted with por15. once the other body parts i have are installed the car will be pretty straight and solid except for the trunk floor. i have the rocker panel trim, the right side will need to be straightened at the very front few inches. car needs weather stripping and window felts, drivers door hinge needs rebuilt/replaced, car wheel hops pretty bad if you dump the clutch and i'm tired of getting under it to adjust the control arms. motor starts easily but battery will die after a couple days of sitting, not sure if it's a bad battery(it's not very old though), draw on it from somewhere, or not charging good? no choke on carb, pump the gas 4 times and turn the key and it'll fire right up, after a minute or so it'll idle on it's own at 7-800 rpms. smokes, not sure if it's a bad pcv, rings never seated, or valve stem seals? only have 700 or so miles on it, leaks from rear pan gasket or real main viton seal, and front crank seal. i should've changed the crank seal when i last swapped the cam but figured it'd be ok. i was wrong.

car is a 75 but i preferred the 74 grills, have the original grills for it. you're welcome to come check it out if you're local. i know i'm asking a lot for a pretty undesirable car but i have way more(--->WAY MORE<---) into it than what it's listed at. also have a stack of receipts. i will upload more pics later.

GM repairing 40,500 Pontiac Vibes as part of Toyota airbag recall

Wed, 09 Apr 2014

General Motors has confirmed to Autoblog that the Pontiac Vibe is included in Toyota's just-announced recall action. The Vibe and the Toyota Matrix share a large number of parts, including the affected cable to the airbag.
"About 40,500 Pontiac Vibes from the 2009-2010 model years are included in the Toyota recall. Toyota designed and engineered the Vibe for Pontiac. GM will service customers with these vehicles when Toyota makes the parts available," said GM recall spokesperson Alan Adler to Autoblog in an email.
The recall covers 1.3 million Toyota units in the US, including 2009-2010 Corolla, Matrix and Tacoma, the 2008-2010 Highlander, the 2006-2008 Rav4 and 2006-2010 Yaris, plus the addition of the 2009-2010 Vibe. The models all have their airbag module attached via a spiral electrical cable. The connections on this cable can be damaged when turning the steering wheel. Once broken, the airbag deactivates and the airbag warning light comes on. Toyota has an improved part, but it's still making preparations to begin repairs. It will begin notifying owners soon.

Question of the Day: Most degraded car name?

Fri, May 27 2016

When Ford came up with a not-so-sporty version of the Pinto and slapped Mustang badges on it in 1974, that was a low point for the Mustang name. When Chrysler applied the venerable Town & Country name on perfectly functional but unglamorous minivans, it saddened many of us. But perhaps the biggest demotion for a once-proud model came when, in 1988, General Motors imported a misery-enhancing Daewoo from Korea and called it the Pontiac LeMans. The original Pontiac LeMans was a great-looking midsize car with fairly advanced (for the time) suspension design and engine options including potent V8s and a screaming overhead-cam straight-six. The Daewoo-based Pontiac LeMans was a cramped, shoddy hooptie that served only to ruin the LeMans name forever, while stealing sales from the Suzuki-based Chevrolet Sprint. Sure, using the once-respected Monterey name on the Mercurized Ford Freestar was bad, but Mercury didn't have long to live at that point. I say the downward spiral of the LeMans name was the most agonizing in automotive history. What do you think? Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party. 1939 Pontiac Ghost Car commands $308,000 at auction

Mon, 01 Aug 2011

For the 1939 World's Fair, Pontiac built a Deluxe Six bodied in Plexiglass. Part of the Previews of Progress pavilion in which General Motors' Futurama showed off what was to come in the world of autos, the 'invisible' Pontiac is credited as the first transparent car in America. And there were no shortcuts taken with its body: the Plexiglass form was fabricated by the company that brought the material to market in 1933, Rohm & Haas.
The see-through sedan was sold at RM Auctions' St. John's auction in Michigan on July 30, fetching $308,000. Not bad appreciation for a domestic oddity that cost $25,000 to build when new. You can check out the high-res gallery of its innards, including copper and chrome metalwork and white moldings and wheels, and get the exhaustive details on it after the jump.
