1971 Pontiac Lemans Sport 5.7l on 2040-cars

Year:1971 Mileage:122000
Location:

Rio Rancho, New Mexico, United States

71 Pontiac Lemans Sport. Original 350 4bbl. Was a console automatic, but was professionally converted to a Muncie 4 speed with a Hayes clutch and Hurst "Quick Throw" shifter.  Starts and runs very strong.  No leaks. Shifts perfectly.  Full new dual exhaust including Hooker headers. Just tuned up including oil change, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, and coil.  A blast to drive!

Car has Power steering, manual brakes and originally had air conditioning (all A/C parts come with car, but are not currently installed).

Original color is Oxford White (repainted once), with black interior and black vinyl roof.  The body is very straight as you can see by the pictures.  There is no typical rust in quarters, the trunk and framerails are as solid as day 1. This car has been in the dry southwest its entire life.  Both doors close solidly and do not hang.  Car has never been wrecked.  I added the GTO rear spoiler and GT-37 reflective stripe for curb appeal.  The bumpers are straight and chrome is excellent with no pitting. Tires have over half tread and are in great shape.  Black vinyl top is new!  NOS front grilles and taillights!

Interior is almost perfect.  It has new carpet, shifter, shifter boot, reupholstered seats, and new headliner.  The door panels are great originals with no cracks or fading.  Seats move back and forth perfectly and seat back mechanisms all work along with all front and rear seatbelts.  New windshield and back glass.  All side glass moves up and down great! New dash mat.  New pkg tray.

This car looks and runs great but is not perfect.  The dash is cracked (but has new dash cover), dash has been precut by previous owner for aftermarket stereo (I did not bother installing one since I'd rather listen to the engine), gas guage inop, kick panels were cut for speakers.  The paint is very nice but does have scratches here and there that have been touched up, so from 10ft, it looks great, but to make it a true show car, you will need to detail and maybe repaint somewhere down the road.  For now, this is a fun musclecar to drive and enjoy and not worry if someone leans against it at the drive in, which is the way musclecars were meant to be.

If this were a show queen it would be in the $20k range, but my reserve is slightly less than a third of that!  I have tried to include anything I can think of, but if you have any questions, please call Greg 505-463-5829 lv msg, I will call back.  PS: car has clear title in my name.

Check out the official 2013 Trans Am Hurst Edition commercial

Sat, 16 Mar 2013

The Poncho is dead. Long live the Poncho. Like certain other reoccurring personal maladies, the aftermarket community simply can't let the Trans Am go without another flare up. The guys at Trans Am Depot have worked up a quick commercial for their newest creation: The 2013 Trans Am Hurst Edition, and it watches pretty much like you'd expect it to. The footage is comprised of just about every TA male fantasy you can conceive of, from Daisy Dukes and white tank tops to tramp stamps, bikinis and ice cream cones. There simply aren't words for what you'll see below.
Of course, we like our T-Tops as much as the next guy. If you like what you see in the videos, you can pick up your very own TA by heading over to the Trans Am Depot site. The guys even have Chevrolet Camaro-based versions of the Pontiac GTO if the '77 TA treatment is too much for your tastes. Enjoy, but don't say we didn't warn you.

Jay Leno tries out a 1970 Pontiac GTO Judge that looks factory fresh

Tue, Jan 31 2017

The latest machine to show up on Jay Leno's Garage is arguably the most iconic Pontiac GTO, the 1970 Judge. The example here is a radically red model and features all of the nifty Judge features, such as the mega-size rear wing, hood-mounted tachometer, and ram air hood scoop. The latter of which had a panel in the hood that would open up at full throttle to let in all that cool air from outside. The car is owned by the Wade Kawasaki, president of Coker Tires, a company that specializes in reproducing classic tires. Not surprisingly, his GTO features a set of the company's Firestone Wide Oval tires. That particular tire would have come with the car originally, but these new versions are built like modern radial tires, rather than the slippery bias-ply originals. The tires are indicative of how Kawasaki restored the rest of his Judge. Everything has been taken back to factory-spec. It has a stock, 400-cubic inch V8 that makes a supposedly underrated 366 horsepower, and it's complete with the chrome valve covers and foam intake seal. The tires are accompanied by exact replica GTO Judge wheels. The car even has the true, original interior. Somehow, the upholstery, dash, and other interior components survived in excellent condition. Check out the video above for more details on this flashy muscle car, as well as some reminiscing about the "good ol' days," and some history on the origins of the car's name. Related Video:

Pontiac Aztek enjoys rebirth thanks to Millennials

Fri, Sep 11 2015

Apparently, Millennials – those between 18 and 34 – aren't afraid to look different on the road, and they like performance, too. A new study by Edmunds is discovering some surprising vehicle choices by this group. Among them, the long-derided Pontiac Aztek is getting a new day in the sun with 25.5 percent its buyers coming from this generation in the first half of 2015. For comparison, Millennials represent an average of 16.8 percent of used car purchases. The Aztek is slowly shaking its reputation as a styling abomination, which seems tied to its appearance on Breaking Bad. The show premiered in 2008, and the Pontiac has been on this list for four of the past five years, according to Edmunds. It even led the pack in 2010. A recent Retro Review from MotorWeek also showed that the crossover wasn't always so hated. While it's still a shock to see the Aztek on any popularity list, the awkward-looking crossover only ranks sixth among Millennials. The vehicle with the biggest portion of buyers from the generation is the Dodge Magnum with 27.6 percent. According to Edmunds, the bluntly styled wagon is especially popular in Detroit and Chicago. The Chrysler Pacifica comes in a close second at 27.3 percent. When it comes to used cars, value and utility appear to trump just about anything else for many Millennial buyers," Edmunds analyst Jeremy Acevedo said in the report. Young buyers aren't afraid of sporty rides, either. The Subaru WRX has 26.4 percent Millennial buyers to rank third place on the list, and the Volkswagen R32 takes fifth at 25.7 percent. Just a few points lower in seventh place is the Nissan GT-R at 25.4 percent, and the final performance machine in 10th place is the Lexus IS-F with 24.7 percent. Related Video:
