1971 Pontiac Lemans...350 motor, automatic, I think a 2 barrel carb. Honest people here with 100% feedback on well over 400 transactions. Won't take too much to get this one up and running because although it has been parked at our house what seems like forever, a few years back my sons tinkered with it and fired it up and drove it around the neighborhood for a while.

We are not car collectors, classic car finders or have anything to do with working on cars. Following is a history of what we know about the car in case you are interested.

In 1994we were renting a house we owned out to an older couple that was in San Bernardino, Ca. One month they were short on money for rent and said they were going to sell this 71 Lemans anyway and would I take it instead of rent. I did not need the car, or want it, but did have a  69 GTO in my youth and although this was no GTO,  I liked  the Pontiac front end look and I took it anyway just to have a third car around for my wife and I. So I registered it and we drove it occasionally while our other cars were  in the shop, etc. Over the next few years when our kids hit Junior high and thought it was a cool car, I added a paint job, used 15 inch tires and rims, and had a shop put station wagon springs in it to jack up the back a bit. That's it. Figured as my kids got older one of them would want this car, but that never happened and I have held it long enough, as now the same kids are into their 30's and the car has just been sitting. The car came to me running fine with I think around 97k miles. It now has 103 k. So that's about how much I drove it in  23 years, mainly years ago taking the kids to school, store, etc. I have never taken it on long trips, etc. and as I said, when I parked it, it ran fine, just got tired of insuring a 3rd car and kids have all moved out.

About the car now.....If you are interested...factor in this....I am easy to deal with and if you want to see the car prior to a bid, just call me and come by and check it out. 951-two zero two-73eighttwo... I have nothing to hide, want whoever gets it to be happy. It IS NOT important to me to just sell this car, somebody needs to want it and be happy with their purchase. Whether you drive it, clean it, fix it up and resell, I don't care, but I just need to know that you knew the truth going into the deal.

It sat outside under a tree so there are tree dropping spots on the top, hood, trunk. The sides don't look too bad, but paint was done, probably mid 90's. 3 tires still hold air, 1 doesn't. I fill it up when I want to move it around our rv parking area. We push it, not start it up. Battery went years ago. The rear bumper is rusty, the front end still looks way cool. Interior, no headliner, 1 major hole in driver seat, need rubber lining around windows, but for the most part there and actually not looking that bad, as I have seen some older cars that are just totally torn back. The trunk keyhole is gone, so I just pop a screwdriver in the whole to open the trunk. There is what appears to be the original bumper jack, that I have used, and I think 3 of the original hubcaps are in the trunk. We try to post a lot of pics, but I know I won't describe everything and you may not see it in the pics, so please email me with ???'s and feel free to call for that matter. Like I said few years ago when I told my sons I was going to get it out of here, they came over, messed a bit with it, fired it up and ran it around here, then parked it and went on with their lives, which is cool, but we are tired of looking at it and not going to save it for our grandkids that may want it in like 10 more years or more.

It has a perfectly clean title and is and has been on legal California non-operation status. Because it is a 1971 it does not need smog . The last year that I had it registered and was driving it around was 2003. It has air conditioning and AM radio, I do not remember if either of those were working so lets go with not working. I seem to remember power steering, no door locks or power seats.I'm sure Im forgetting plenty so please email or ask. Thank you and bid with confidence. You can always keep it on non-op until you are ready to drive. That doesn't cost me anything every year. This car is for sale locally, so this auction is subject to end at any time, HOWEVER, if there is any bid in on the car we would of course not end the auction or sell it locally, but it would go to the Ebay high bidder. If you are high bidder for this LeMans, you are responsible for removing it from our property, within 7 days of auction close, hopefully sooner. We will work with you, but please don't bid on this and then leave it here. We want it out.  It is parked on concrete in our sideyard and we have 12 foot gates so getting to it is pretty easy. I cannot help with loading, pushing or anything. PLEASE only bid if you have the finances to complete this auction.  Paypal is fine or cash on pickup will work too after the initial $200 deposit...any questions email me or call...Thanks for looking!!!

Junkyard Gem: 2007 Saturn Sky

Sat, Jun 26 2021

The Pontiac Division didn't have long to live when the Solstice first appeared in 2005 as a 2006 model, and Saturn's head was inching toward the chopping block at about the same rate. Still, optimism reigned — at least, it did until the global economy fell apart — and so Saturn Dealers got a rebadged version of the Solstice to sell: the Sky. Available for just the 2007 through 2010 model years, slightly more than 34,000 Skies rolled out of showrooms before the doors were nailed shut. Here's one of those rare cars, found in a Denver-area self-service yard a few weeks ago. I've found a handful of discarded Solstices in car graveyards during the past few years, mostly with crash damage. This Sky endured a medium-hard impact in the right front corner, which sent it to this place. The 177-horsepower, 2.4-liter Ecotec still resides under the battered hood. The Sky Redline version had a turbocharged engine rated at 260 horses; we can assume that such an engine would be yanked and purchased by the first junkyard shopper that realized what it was. The base transmission in the Sky was an Aisin five-speed manual, but this car has the optional five-speed automatic.  The Sky had its own nose and some different badging, but otherwise didn't differ much from the Solstice.  For the South Korean market, the Sky got Daewoo G2X badges and was advertised as the ideal vehicle for high-speed chases through Seoul traffic. The same car went to Europe as the Opel GT. Sadly, GM ran out of money to make right-hand-drive Skies, so we never got to witness Holden or Vauxhall versions. Here's Bob Lutz describing the new Sky. Lutz really hated car names molded into plastic bumper covers, so he takes great care here to describe the genuine glued-on emblems. Related Video:

GM Recalling Another 2.7 Million Vehicles In Five Separate Campaigns

Thu, May 15 2014

The recalls keep rolling in from General Motors, evidently keen to avoid repeating the mistakes of the ignition-switch debacle and clean house. This time they're all coming at once, with five separate recalls announced together covering approximately 2.7 million vehicles. The largest of the five actions involves over 2.4 million units of the previous-generation Chevrolet Malibu and Malibu Maxx, Pontiac G6 and Saturn Aura in order to fix brake light wiring harness, which have been found to be susceptible to corrosion. The recall is separate from the 56k Aura sedans which GM recently recalled over faulty shift cables, not to mention the previous massive recall of 1.3 million vehicles – some of them the same models – but appears to have resulted from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration investigation that started with the G6 almost a year ago. The second-largest campaign involves the 2014 Chevy Malibu, specifically those fitted with GM's 2.5-liter engine and stop/start system, approximately 140,000 examples of which has been found to have problematic brakes. The issue does not appear to be connected to the recall of 8k Malibu and Buick LaCrosse sedans (also involving brake woes) which we reported upon last week. Four crashes have been reported in such models, but GM admits it's not yet clear if the problem was a contributing factor in the accidents. A further 112k Corvette models from the 2005-2007 model years are being called in for problems with their low-beam headlamps resulting from a flexing relay control circuit wire that's not meant to bend. GM says it is "aware of several hundred complaints" about this issue, but notes that there have been no reports of related accidents. In addition, over 19k examples of Cadillac CTS from the 2013 and 2014 model years are being recalled over windshield wipers that might not work after a jump start. Finally, GM is also bringing in 477 examples of its 2014 Chevy Silverado, Tahoe and GMC Sierra (though not the Yukon) to fix a problem with a tie rod in its steering rack. As ever, all recall repairs will be performed free of charge, and GM is now estimating that recall-related actions this quarter will result in an estimated $200-million charge against its second-quarter earnings. MotorWeek's 80's GM muscle coupe roundup includes Regal GN and Monte Carlo SS

Thu, Jan 29 2015

Even with just four brands in the family, General Motors still represents a performance powerhouse. Between the Chevrolet Corvette Z06, Camaro Z/28, Cadillac CTS-V and ATS-V, The General can still deliver plenty of thrills. The 1980s, though, saw the brand go even crazier with performance. While the Camaro and Corvette were still around back in the day, GM had a number of other interesting performance offerings. The Bowtie was complemented by the long-deceased Monte Carlo SS, while the now-defunct Pontiac and Oldsmobile offered the Grand Prix and thumping 442, respectively. And Buick, which isn't short on performance with its Regal GS and Verano Turbo, offered a much more serious vehicle, in the form of the Grand National (not to mention the Darth Vader-spec GNX). MotorWeek, in its hugely entertaining retro flashbacks, looks back on these three long-lost GM performance icons, and it's just as good as you might expect.
