1969 Pontiac Lemans/ Custom S Convertible on 2040-cars
Boulder City, Nevada, United States
This gorgeous convertible is a single year model car that was marketed between a LeMans & Tempest in 1969. There were only 2,379 convertibles built. This car was featured in the 2nd Jurassic Park movie (The Lost World) ) and was shown driving around San Diego with Jeff Goldblum and Juliann Moore, being chased by the T-rex. The car was painted red for that movie. I purchased the car from my father in law in 2000 after he retired from the movie car business. In 2009 I spent the entire year doing a complete body on restoration and spared no expense, almost everything was replaced or rebuilt except for the motor. It had been done before I got the car. I also had a (Donor Car) that I took many parts off of that where in better condition. The car was driven through a movie set wall in the movie and had some damage to the sheet metal under the radiator. During the project I removed the luggage rack and installed a GTO hood. This is a rust free California car and a car show winner. I won Top Pick Award in 2010. This is for the top 25 cars out of over 300 in show. This car runs, looks and drives like new and is a real head turner. I have the complete parts list and restoration progress pic's available upon request. The car has been in a climate controlled garage with a cover on it and has only 800 miles since it was completed. It's never even been washed only wiped down. I have the original factory build sheet that I found on top off the fuel tank when I dropped the tank for cleaning. I don't know how to confirm, but to the best of my knowledge, knowing most of the history of the car, it has the original engine and transmission but both have been gone through in the past. I might be interested in a partial trade for a late model mid sized luxury sedan such as a Volkswagen CC, Passat or BMW etc.

A pair of Mitsubishis, the Mazda CX-30 and electric incentives | Autoblog Podcast #673
Fri, Apr 9 2021This week's Autoblog Podcast features Editor-in-Chief Greg Migliore and Consumer Editor Jeremy Korzeniewski as they debate the merits of the redesigned Subaru BRZ and Toyota 86 coupes and whether or not they are distinctive and powerful enough to attract buyers. The duo spends some time discussing ongoing EV and infrastructure legislation before turning their attention to a trio of crossovers. Greg muses about the 2021 Mazda CX-30 before Jeremy talks about the refreshed 2022 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross and completely redesigned Outlander. We get nostalgic as we remember the dearly departed Pontiac GTO before wrapping the podcast up by making one more suggestion to a longtime listener who is shopping for a vehicle to replace her aging Honda Pilot. Lutz says GM was working on 5th-gen Pontiac GTO
Thu, 08 Aug 2013Bob Lutz was one of the forces behind bringing the Holden Monaro to the United States, as the ill-fated Pontiac GTO in 2004. And while that car received critical acclaim, it was a sales disappointment. Now, Road & Track is reporting that our suspicions were correct - Pontiac was working on a two-door, G8-based coupe before it was shuttered.
In that R&T article, which is no longer available online, Lutz explained that the new GTO would solve many of the issues found in the original. Car Advice speculates that the new model would have look like a rebadged version of the Holden Coupe 60 Concept from 2008, a conclusion we also came to.
That car would have been a big departure from the 2004 to 2006 GTO. It has an extremely long hood and short rear deck, with an almost fastback roofline and a wide greenhouse with a tall beltline. The wheel arches were very pronounced, and the chin and rocker panel splitters gave it a race-ready look. Would it have been enough to make the GTO work in the US? We think it might of, but it looks like we'll never know.
Baseball team to dress like Trans Am, complete with screaming chicken
Fri, Feb 8 2019Come to think of it, the Screaming Chicken actually sounds like the name of a minor league baseball team. Well, it isn't, but the famous logo of the same name that graced the hood of the 1970s Pontiac Trans Am will at least be making it to a baseball uniform this summer. The Lansing Lugnuts, a Single-A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays, will be rocking these special uniforms to honor the late Burt Reynolds and his film Smokey and the Bandit. By default, it will also be honoring the car the movie made famous: the 1977 Trans Am painted black with gold trim and, of course, the screaming chicken on the hood. This is a pretty good history of the emblem. So why the Lugnuts and Burt Reynolds? Although he claimed to be born in Georgia for much of his career, he admitted in a 2015 autobiography that he was in fact born in Lansing, Mich. After a few years, his family settled in Florida. Not exactly hometown hero stuff, but minor league baseball promotions have been made of more tenuous connections. The Burt Reynolds tribute night will be July 20, and if you want to get a screaming chicken jersey for yourself (I mean, wouldn't they be perfect for a cars and coffee?), the game-used jerseys will be auctioned off for charity after the game.
