Welcome to our listing for a Great 1966 Pontiac LeMans Convertible. This LeMans was owned by the same person for over 30 years. After 30 years of ownership he decided to trade this desirable convertible on a C5 Corvette. This car has had good care and was always stored inside. Here is a Classic Convertible with Great History, that you have a chance to purchase at an affordable price.

The engine is a 326 cu in V-8 and runs out super. After years of basically storage we decided that it could use some maintainence. We took the engine out and replaced the main seals and pan gasket. We also installed all new belts, new hoses, and a new fuel pump. To be safe we also replaced the thermostat and installed a fresh water pump. To make the LeMans run the way it was intended we gave it a "Tune-up" that included all new spark plugs, spark plug wires, and a distributor cap and rotor. It runs out GREAT! The transmission is a 2-speed powerglide that shifts properly. This Car really Drives Out Super!

The color on this 1966 Pontiac LeMans is really eye catching especially with the black convertible top. The body is in really great condition, showing no signs of rust anywhere. The LeMans has been repainted at some point and certainly shows some wear from the years. There are minor scratches and minor dents (nothing major), it looks amazing from 10 feet away, but could use repainted to bring the LeMans to "Show Quality"! To say it in the easiest way this LeMans is of Great Driver Quality! In the underneath photos you will notice minor patch work in the lower rear inner wheel wells (nothing exterior we can see), this repair was done years ago and is the only sign of possible rust repair. The floors, rocker panels, underneath doors and gas tank area all look good. The only hickup we can find is the fuel guage only goes to 1/4 tank when completely full. We did replace the sending unit, so the flaw must be in the fuel guage.

The interior has the bucket seat option with floor console and floor shift. We have already purchased a "New Carpet Kit" and "New Seat Cover Kit", these will come with the car. For comfort this LeMans Convertible has the air conditioning option and it is in proper working order.

To bring this 1966 LeMans into the 21st century we installed 17" BOSS 338 GRAY Wheels and covered them with 245/45ZR17 Sumitomo tires. It looks much more modern than the 14" steel wheels with trim rings and baby moons that were on the LeMans when we traded for it. We still have the stockies and will include them in the sale.

I have been in the Used Car Business for over 30 years and sold more than 100 Classic cars. You can trust my judgement and check my feedback, I will be honest about the car and do what I can to earn your business. This is a Great opportunity to own a classic 1966 Pontiac LeMans convertible, drive it the way it is, or restore it to your specifications. This LeMans would certainly make a Super GTO Clone candidate! For more information send a e-mail or better yet give Danny a call at CARSTORE 308-380-1040. Carstore is centrally located in the United States in Grand Island, Nebraska and we invite your inspection or a third party inspection. The 1966 Pontiac LeMans will be sold "As-Is" with no warranty expressed or implied. A non-refundable deposit is due within 24 hours of accepted offer, balance due within 7 days. Transportation is the responsibility of the purchaser. We will work with any shipper or meet you at a convient airport.

1969 Pontiac GTO Judge vs. 2006 GTO, which Goat gets your vote?

Mon, 08 Sep 2014

The Pontiac GTO was perhaps the most iconic muscle car of the '60s and early '70s. With its beefy V8 and color palette screaming for attention, it summarized in a single vehicle everything that made the era so appealing to many young people. Pontiac tried to collect just a few drops of that aura again in the 2000s with a revived GTO, but with decidedly mixed results. The performance was still there with its big V8, but the looks never quite lived up to the powertrain. Now, Generation Gap wants to know which of these Goats is the one to own.
Things are skewed immediately because the 2006 GTO here is a real ringer. It comes from famous tuner Ken Lingenfelter's collection, and it's a one-off example partially fettled by GM Performance boasting a twin-turbocharged LS2 V8 with a claimed 750 horsepower and a wide-body kit. This Goat definitely isn't what you're going to find just browsing for one to buy in the newspaper. Still, dip the throttle just a little, and this GTO pulls like a freight train. It's enough to turn the two hosts into giggling schoolboys behind the wheel.
The '69 GTO Judge here is also out of Lingenfelter's collection, but this one is all stock with a 400-cubic-inch (6.6-liter) V8 and a Ram Air hood for a claimed 366 hp. It might not have the unbelievable power of the turbo '06, but it makes up for it with style to spare.

The prized golden 1965 Pontiac Hurst GeeTO Tiger is headed to auction

Sat, Apr 4 2020

Once upon a time, a Pontiac advertising executive named Jim Wangers created a countrywide contest with this gorgeous 1965 Pontiac Hurst GTO serving as the grand prize. The contest was centered around "GeeTO Tiger," a song by musical artists The Tigers. A 19-year-old took home the golden muscle car at the time, but now anybody can buy the rare car through an upcoming Mecum auction.  As a way to boost sales and awareness of the Pontiac GTO and its performance parts, Wangers partnered up with Royal Pontiac, George Hurst, and Petersen Publishing in 1965 to create a contest. Royal provided the car, Hurst dressed it up, and Petersen distributed the contest in publications across the country.  In order to participate, people were asked to provide a reason why they wanted the car and identify how many times the word "tiger" was used in the promotional song "GeeTO Tiger" (pronounced G-Tee-Oh) by The Tigers. A 19 year-old kid named Alex Lampone from West Allis, Wisconsin, won the contest and took delivery of this jazzed-up GTO at the 1965 NHRA Indy Nationals.  This content is hosted by a third party. The Tigers - GeeTO Tiger The prize car was completely kitted out and described by Wangers as "the nicest GTO you could put your hands on." It had more than 28 factory options, including a black cordova top, power windows, power steering, power brakes, a tilt steering wheel, a power driver's seat, dual-speed windshield wipers, a custom sport steering wheel, a rally gauge cluster, a push-button AM/FM radio with power antenna, and a Verba phonic rear speaker. What makes it stand out is the Hurst-inspired gold theme, which includes gold paint, gold mag wheels, and a gold-plated Hurst Shifter. Under the hood, this GTO has a Tri-Power 389 V8 engine that pairs with a four-speed manual transmisison. It also has a 3.55 Safe-T-Track rear axle and dual exhaust. Throughout the years, this car has exchanged hands many times and has undergone a few changes. It's been repainted, and the engine has also been rebuilt, but Mecum says it's otherwise highly original. Ony 59,000 miles have turned over on the odometer.  The GeeTO Tiger Pontiac is scheduled to go up for auction in Indianapolis this June. Visit Mecum for more information. German prosecutors have recorded calls between VW bigwigs talking dieselgate

Thu, Mar 21 2019

It's barely possible to believe how poorly Volkswagen continues to handle dieselgate. Depending on which day you catch the news, the German carmaker embodies the corporate venality of "Michael Clayton," the comic blundering of the Coen Brothers' "Burn After Reading," and the every-man-for-himself vengeance of "Reservoir Dogs." Today is Tarantino day, with news that German prosecutors have recordings of phone calls between former Audi and Porsche development boss Wolfgang Hatz, ex-Volkswagen Group executive Matthias Muller, and current Porsche executives Oliver Blume and Michael Steiner. Hatz made the calls to the trio in November 2015, two months after Volkswagen admitted its diesel-particulate sins to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Hatz was still employed at the time, and in his company car. Who recorded the calls? His wife. Hatz and his missus apparently saw the storm coming and started stacking defenses early. Hatz's wife, who can be heard encouraging Hatz during at least one call, sent the recordings to Hatz's attorney from her mobile phone. According to a Google translation of the German newspaper Handelsblatt's report, she included the note, "Here is a very long, but quite informative conversation on the current situation with useful formulations." The report in Handelsblatt said that in Germany it is generally "not allowed" to record a conversation and pass it on to a third party. We don't know how the authorities will handle this matter, since prosecutors found the recordings in e-mail attachments on Mrs. Hatz's mobile phone. Remember, when the diesel scandal broke, VW spent months saying that only a small number of low-level personnel were behind it, and all of the higher-ups had been blindsided. Ex-CEO Martin Winterkorn claimed to be "stunned that misconduct on such a scale was possible in the Volkswagen Group." Winterkorn successor Matthias Muller said, "according to current information, a few developers interfered in the engine management." Former VW USA honcho Michael Horn told a congressional committee that "a couple of software engineers" programmed the software for reasons no one could understand. In the recorded conversations, Hatz apparently called Muller to find out how VW planned to treat him.
