To start with, let me first say that I understand that there is a lot of information in my ad. I also understand that this may be boring to the person who is just looking and not buying. However, for the person who is looking to buy and spend their hard earned money, I feel that there is never too much information.

 

As to myself, I am not a dealer, just a (63) year old kid that still loves muscle cars. I am now retired, having managed a Correctional Facility here in Maine and worked for the Maine Department of Corrections for over (40) years. I am also a respected member of my community. I mention this only because of the value of this car and so that prospective buyers will have some idea as to who they are dealing with. Also, please check out my eBay feedback which is 100% with (1,039) transactions. Many of those have been muscle cars which I have sold to individuals all over the country as well as Canada, England, Switzerland and Australia.

 

As to this Grand Prix that I am selling, it is for the wife of a person I worked with for the last 15 years who unexpectedly passed away a few months ago. He was a true GM man and this particular car was his baby and was the one car he always told me he would never sell and he stuck to his word to the end. My hope is that it will be passed on to another family who will love it and care for it as this family has done for the past 38 years. The reality is that you simply do not find all original, low mileage, classics like this anymore. And when you do, you need to treat them as you would a piece of fine art. That is how I feel about all of these classic cars (fine art) as once they are gone, they are gone forever.

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                               

 

The 1975 GP was essentially a carry-over from 1974, in terms of styling. The few changes made were concentrated in the grille, which received fewer vertical slats, and in the taillights, which were now more vertical.

The Grand Prix lineup now consisted of three models, all based on the same body. First was the standard coupe, next up was the SJ, which was now the "sporty" version, followed by the new luxury LJ. The three varied somewhat in terms of available upholstery and trim levels.

This was the first year for mandatory use of unleaded fuel and catalytic converters, so 1975 models saw some significant changes in emissions control devices—and a subsequent reduction in horsepower. All Pontiac V8s received the High Energy Ignition System, which was said to deliver three times the firing power to the spark plugs, and allowed for a wide (0.060-inch) plug gap. This resulted in more complete combustion, which aided efficiency and reduced emissions somewhat.

The base engine was a 400 4-barrel, now advertised at 185 hp, down a full 40 horses. A federally certified 400 2-barrel was also optional in all models. The 455 4-barrel put out a rather wheezy 200 horses, and was standard in the SJ. Whether the power reduction in the Poncho engine lineup was actually as severe as advertised has been the topic of some controversy, but either way, it wasn't a good sign for enthusiasts.

Production figures for the Grand Prix continued to drop. The 1975 total was 86,582 units, of which 64,581 were standard models, 7,146 SJs, and the remaining 14,855 the new LJ coupes.

Pontiac built a very unusual concept vehicle in this period. While it was not a glimpse at the next-generation GP, it was intended to preview upcoming features of future Grand Prix. The car had a hand-formed aluminum body and a non-production, all-aluminum 250-cubic-inch Pontiac V8. Unfortunately, the car was never completed and never shown, most likely because it was far more advanced than the vehicles it was intended to preview. It disappeared without a trace and has not been seen since.

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                               

 

Okay, let's go back to 1975 for a moment. “Love Will Keep us Together” by Captain and Tennille, was Billboards number one song and who could forget the Reds beating the Red Sox in 7 games for the World Series? In that same year, in Rockland Maine, a local gentleman was sitting in Moody Pontiac waiting to take home his new 1975 Grand Prix LJ. You didn’t have to check too many boxes as the LJ model was already loaded. He drove that car home and told his wife that he would never sell his beauty and he kept his word all of those 38 years. This car was loved and cared for like part of the family. Never driven in the winter or inclement weather. Yes the wipers were used occasionally when the car was caught in a small rain burst but that is the only time it would see rain. Obviously stored most of its life as is indicated by the extremely low mileage, the car was actually placed on blocks during the winter months to ensure that the spring tension would not be effected.

 

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                               

 

So for your consideration is this one-owner, beautiful and original 1975 Pontiac Grand Prix LJ with the 455 4BBL engine and automatic transmission. The odometer shows 21,887 miles which is completely original. The Grand Prix LJ has all original "rust free" body panels and undercarriage.

However, I will not waste your time with this Grand Prix LJ. Virtually all areas and major components are in very good to excellent original condition including hoses, trim, rims and tires.

                                                                                                                                      

 

My Comments:  Are you serious! I personally have never seen a more original, one-owner classic muscle car than this 1975 Pontiac Grand Prix LJ. Enough said. Look at the photos and video and see for yourself. If you are looking for a winter beater, this is not for you. If you are looking for a real classic, this car is definitely for you.

I do not have a Maine title in hand at this point but for this 1975 Pontiac Grand Prix LJ as Maine does not issue titles for vehicles that are more than (15) years old anyways. The car will come with a Bill-of-Sale, the Maine registration signed over to the new owner and a copy of the Maine law regarding titles which is on a form issued by the Maine Motor Vehicle Department.

Pontiac and McLaren once hooked up, and it was rad

Most of us would bend over backwards to have a chance to own a McLaren car, but few can afford such extravagance. That said, there’s a way you can get behind the wheel of a legitimate McLaren without breaking the bank. For 1989 and 1990, the Pontiac Grand Prix was offered in a limited-edition ASC-McLaren variant that featured tuning and updates from the iconic British automaker. Examples of this rare coupe rarely surface for sale, so itÂ’s surprising to see this low-mile 1990 Pontiac Grand Prix ASC-McLaren on eBay. The car is the result of a partnership between American Specialty Cars-McLaren (ASC-McLaren) and Pontiac. WeÂ’re not talking about the McLaren Formula 1 team or even the iconic McLaren road cars here. The McLaren connection comes from an arm of the automakerÂ’s powertrain engineering department. The Grand PrixÂ’s standard 3,1-liter V6 got a massage and a turbocharger, adding 65 horsepower for a total of 205 ponies and 225 pound-feet of torque. A four-speed automatic transmission sends power to the front wheels. That output is modest by todayÂ’s standards, and it wasnÂ’t outrageous even by 1990 standards, but the car returned a decent 0-60 mph time of around 7 seconds. The $5,000 ASC-McLaren package added a load of cool 1980s tech to the Grand PrixÂ’s interior, some of which is surprisingly advanced for the time. The car got a head-up display and a digital display on the dash. The steering wheel should be delightfully familiar to anyone who remembers a top-end Pontiac of the era, with the entire center of the wheel filled with buttons instead of the airbags we see today. The car had insanely padded bucket seats front and rear(!) with a distinctive pear shape.  Many sources peg production numbers between 2,500 and 3,500 units, so the car is relatively rare compared to its mass-produced Pontiac counterparts. This oneÂ’s got just 17,746 miles on the clock, too, and appears to be in excellent condition. ItÂ’s had just two owners and no reported accidents. The seller notes a little surface rust from the car being in storage so long. This era of GM cars tended to deteriorate quickly, so a bit of surface rust shouldnÂ’t be a huge issue. This 93-car Iowa auction is like a Big 3 classic muscle museum

Bill "Coyote" Johnson has been buying cars since high school and has amassed a collection totaling 113 vehicles, according to NBC 6 News. But time has changed his motivations and priorities, and he's decided to auction 93 of those cars, many of which are classic muscle from Ford, Chevrolet, Dodge, Plymouth and Pontiac. The megasale will take place Sept. 14, 2019, in Red Oak, Iowa, at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds. A 1969 Plymouth Road Runner infected Coyote with a love for Detroit muscle when he was just a teenager, and his desire quickly turned into an obsession. He's spent the past 40 years finding, buying and working on a variety of makes and models. Unlike some collectors, Coyote didn't discriminate against certain brands and has rides from each of the Big 3 automakers. Included in the auction are Camaros, Satellites, Super Bees, Chargers, Challengers, Barracudas, Coronets, GTOs, Mustangs, Cutlasses and others. Possibly the most intriguing aspect of the auction is that all of these cars will be sold as-is with no reserve. Junkyard Gem: 2009 Pontiac G3

Things weren't looking so rosy for Pontiac Division in late 2008, as The General had troubles of its own that culminated in Chapter 11 bankruptcy in June of 2009. Meanwhile, the Solstice and G8 had failed to revive Pontiac's youthful "excitement" image. Naturally, this seemed like the ideal time to put Pontiac badges and a new grille on the Chevrolet Aveo (itself a rebadged Daewoo Kalos) and call it the G3 (in the United States) or the G3 Wave (in Canada). Sales were not brisk, to put it mildly, and the 2009-only G3 has become one of the rarest modern Pontiacs in the junkyard world. The announcement of Pontiac's demise came in the spring of 2009, with the very last Pontiac-badged vehicle built being either a G3 or a Vibe (since those cars were really Daewoos and Toyotas, respectively, the true final Pontiac was the 2010 G6). The Aveo itself disappeared after the 2011 model year, replaced by an updated Kalos design known here as the Chevrolet Sonic. As a result of the GM bankruptcy, termination of the Pontiac brand, a nasty worldwide recession, and the preference of American vehicle shoppers for trucks or at least truck-shaped cars, few knew the G3 existed and fewer still thought to buy one. This is only the second G3 I've managed to find in a car graveyard, and I've been searching diligently.  So, it's a Junkyard Gem in the historical sense, not in the sense of being the kind of car you'd want to take to your 20th high school reunion. That said, it has power windows, air conditioning, and a CD player— pretty nice stuff for a dirt-cheap econobox from a decade back. And look! An AUX jack for your iPod or early-model smartphone. I drove dozens of cheap rental cars for my job with the 24 Hours of Lemons Traveling Circus during the late 2000s, and very few had this feature; until about 2013 or so, you had to travel with your own CDs or one of those horrible wireless FM modulators if you wanted to listen to anything other than the radio in a non-high-roller rental car.
