********************************************************************************************

Offered is a 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix GT, 4D, 3.8L V6 SFI.  This Pontiac has 133,605 miles and is being sold, as is with NO RESERVE so we do not have to re-list.  We hold clear title.  This Pontiac is being auctioned by the Woodridge Illinois Police Department.  The history of this vehicle is unknown as it was seized in a traffic-stop arrest that occurred on January 25th, 2014.  Following the arrest this Pontiac was stored in a warehouse until it was awarded to the Woodridge Police by court order on March 24th, 2014.

We will attempt to describe this vehicle to the best of our ability and you may inspect the vehicle, in person, by appointment.

The body has scratches, scuff marks, dents rust and broken trim pieces.  The tires have leaks.  There is fluid on top of the engine and the bottom of the engine.  See photos.

The interior is dirty and shows ware.  There are watermarks on the headliner, near the sunroof opening.  The trunk does not open from outside the car and this may be due to the key fob not functioning.  See photos.

Before a brief test drive, the Pontiac had to be jumpstarted and then stayed running.  The Pontiac accelerated, braked, and handled as would be expected for a vehicle of this age and condition.  It is suggested that the buyer have this Pontiac inspected/serviced by a qualified mechanic before use.  See photos.

The NADA listed value for this 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix sedan 4D GT is $3,175 for "Rough Trade-In", $4,050 for "Average Trade-In" and $4,775 for "Clean Trade-In".  We would place this vehicle in the “Rough” category but it is always recommended that you inspect the vehicle and make your own assessments before bidding.

These vehicles have an unknown prior history and are NOT inspected by us prior to auction.  You may inspect this vehicle, in person, by appointment and make your own assessments before bidding.

This Auto Aerobics car art ties our brains in knots like pretzels

Sat, 14 Dec 2013

We like cars, and we like art. Naturally, Chris Labrooy's Auto Aerobics series - computer-generated images of some seriously contorted 1968 Pontiac Bonnevilles floating in mid-air - instantly clicked with us. If the Pontiacs weren't floating or hollow, we could be fooled into believing the image is real. But where's the fun in that?
Check out the gallery we included of Labrooy's Bonneville art, and feel free too head over to his website for some Formula One humor.

Classic Pontiac Trans Am Firebird Super Duty 455 sells for nearly $90,000

Fri, Aug 25 2023

Historically, the Pontiac Firebird Trans Am raised the performance levels a notch or two over a plain Firebird in the muscle car hierarchy of the Sixties. But the Super Duty 455 version of the Trans Am — that number represents the cubic inches of the hand-assembled V8 engine — moved the performance needle big time in 1974. So much so that a clean example of the machine sold recently on the Hagerty Marketplace auction site for $89,296. Advertised with just under 54,000 miles on the clock and having undergone a thorough restoration, the Buccaneer Red model was one of just 943 Pontiac Firebirds equipped with the Super Duty 455 package for the 1974 model year. That build had also been offered in 1973. The Hagerty listing drew more than 21,000 views and 39 bids. According to Hagerty's valuation report, a similar car would be worth $85,700 in good condition, and $103,000 if it was in ‘“concours condition.” The Super Duty motor borrowed technology from the lineÂ’s 366-cubic-inch NASCAR engine, and featured heavy-duty connecting rods and an entirely new block with a revised crankshaft and heads to deliver a claimed 310 horsepower. The Firebird that sold was indeed loaded, with a three-speed Hydra-matic transmission (which surely reduced its overall value), power locks and windows, AC, dual exhausts, heavy duty stabilizer bars all around, and a “custom Interior trimmed in Red perforated Morrokide vinyl upholstery.” The entry of PontiacÂ’s pony car in the U.S., facing off against the Mustang and Camaro, dates back to 1967, when it was offered with an inline six and optional V8. The first Trans Ams were introduced two years later, the name derived from a handling package. General Motors ceased production of new Pontiacs in 2002 owing to declining sales and losing stakes in the sports coupe market. The big 455-cid V-8 had disappeared years earlier.

Junkyard Gem: 2000 Pontiac Sunfire coupe

Thu, Feb 21 2019

In a few months, we'll reach the tenth anniversary of GM's axing of the venerable Pontiac brand. G6s, Vibes, and Matizes continued to be built until 2010, but I'm noticing a marked decrease in discarded Pontiacs lately, as I perform my junkyardy rituals. Here's a 2000 Pontiac Sunfire, photographed in a Colorado wrecking yard. The Sunfire was the near-identical sibling to the Chevrolet Cavalier, based on the long-running (1982-2005) J-Body platform. It was cheap and simple, looked pretty sporty (at least in coupe form), and every parts store in North America carried just about everything you'd need to keep one running. This coupe had to compete for sales not only with a vast and menacing array of imports but with GM's own Saturn SC2 (not to mention the Cavalier itself). Meanwhile, the J platform was showing its age more with each passing year. This car sports what must have been the complete line of Fatal Clothing bomber-nose-art/skate-punk/gang-tag-influenced decals, circa 2010. I actually photographed this car back in 2011, then misplaced the image files until last week. The stickers are very California-centric for a Colorado car, but then plenty of Californians — including me— move here. When you know you're a car's final owner, it's a lot easier to whip out the paint pens and redecorate the interior. Power came from the engine GM developed for the very first J-Bodies: the 2.2-liter 122 pushrod four-cylinder. 2002 was the last model year for 122-powered Sunfires and Cavaliers; the most affordable S-10/Sonoma/Hombre trucks got this engine through 2003.
