Up for auction is this 1969 Grand prix SJ That has been cared for by its 2nd owner for over 40 years!!

Bought new from ERICKSON & JAMES INC. Pontiac in Yreka California on 11-11-69 by Robert Anderson MD where he put 14,526 miles on it and it was sold on 6-6-72 to Frank and Janis Ravenscroft also in Yreka Ca.

Thats where it stayed and cared for until Frank passed away and Janis figured it was time to let it go after 40 years. she told me they used it daily back in the day and raised her family using it untill they were grown.  The last ten years it was used only as a weekend showcar and  used occasionally. The odometer is at 124,000 miles. The original numbers matching engine and trans was rebuilt around 110,000 and it has been painted only once about 10-12 years ago the same original liberty blue with matching interior. The GP is kinda rare as its a factory hardtop without a vinyl cover. It really makes these cars sleek and sporty without the top. The interior is all original and with the exception of a couple splits in the drivers seat the rest is like new. You would never know that kids played in this car as she installed clear seat covers when they bought it and they were still there when i puchased it earlier this year. I have since taken them off as they have done there job preserving the original covers for the most part.  The blue cover is still Brilliant as you will see in the pics.  I have all the paperwork from new AND 2 protectoplates that go with the car along with most of the yearly registrations and insurance cards and lots of reciepts from all around matinence that was done over the years. the engine is complete numbers down to the original carb.  I did put 15 inch rally II wheels on it with G70-15 Bias ply redlines. But i can switch them to the original 14x7 wheels with whitewall radials if so desired.  Thats about all i can say right now but questions are welcome so please call me @ 267-246-6903 if you want to discuss the car further or a buy it now price or if you would like to make an appointment to come see it in person and take it for a drive.

This is a fairly optioned car PS,PDB,PWR Windows, tilt wheel, working Air Conditioning,AM Radio/Rear mounted 8 track player that works,Cornering lamps and all the features that come with the SJ package including Rally Gauge dash and Air suspension on the rear.  SJ cars are far and few between and to find one like this with full ownership documentation and options in these colors never come around for sale.  Thanks for looking!!!

MERRY CHRISTMAS & HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

Woman Cleared In Fatal Car Wreck After GM Letter

Tue, Nov 25 2014

A Texas judge cleared a woman Monday for a car accident that killed her fiance in 2004, after General Motors acknowledged that her car would have been among millions being recalled for a problem that may have contributed to the death. Candice Anderson was driving a 2004 Saturn Ion when it suddenly veered off a road about 60 miles east of Dallas and slammed into a tree. Anderson, then 21, was severely injured when the car's air bags failed to deploy. Her 25-year-old fiance, Gene Erikson, who was a passenger, was killed. She later pleaded guilty to charges stemming from the wreck. But during a hearing Monday, State District Judge Teresa Drum expunged the conviction from her record, according to officials in the Van Zandt County court andAnderson's attorney, Bob Hilliard. In a letter given to the court ahead of the hearing, an attorney for the automaker confirmed that Anderson's Saturn would have been among 2.6 million GM vehicles recalled in February to address ignition switches that can slip out of the "run" position, causing the engines to stall and disabling power steering, brakes and air bags. Anderson's crash "is one in which the recall condition may have caused or contributed to the frontal air bag non-deployment in the accident," attorney Richard C. Godfrey wrote. Hilliard provided a copy of the letter to The Associated Press, and Godfrey confirmed its contents Monday. Anderson was initially charged with criminally negligent homicide because there was no clear explanation at the time why the wreck occurred, according to court documents from the case. She pleaded guilty to a letter charge in 2006, and was sentenced to five years' probation. She also was ordered to perform 260 hours of community service, pay court costs and cover the costs of Erikson's funeral. "GM knew this defect caused this death, yet instead of telling the truth watched silently as Candice was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter," Hilliard said Monday. "It took 10 years for GM to find its voice." In a separate statement issued by the company, GM said it "cooperated fully by providing technical information that was requested to make a decision in this matter." The carmaker also said the issue in Anderson's case was for local law enforcement and courts to consider. "That's why we took a neutral position on Ms. Anderson's case," the company's statement said. "It was appropriate for the court to determine the legal status of Ms.

This Hoonigan mechanic's twin-turbo Trans Am is wonderful

Thu, Mar 24 2016

What do you drive when you work on rally machines for a living? Probably a Subaru WRX, and that's what Gregg Hamilton had for a while until working on his car felt too much like his day job. So when he moved from New Zealand to the US to work for Ken Block (with a few stops along the way) he bought something entirely different. This is Gregg's 1979 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am. It's a throwback to another time, but it's anything but stock. It has that magic combination of a big V8 with a manual transmission and rear drive, just like the tin-top racers Gregg watched in his Kiwi youth. He bought it sight unseen from its previous owner in Alabama, and has been tinkering with it ever since. There's something about the flared wheel arches and the classic Firebird gold-striped black livery that has us smitten. Scope out the six-minute clip above from Petrolicious and see if you don't fall for Gregg's Pontiac as well.

Tony Stewart to star in Smoke Is The Bandit web series

Mon, 10 Mar 2014

NASCAR driver Tony Stewart is making good use of his nickname Smoke in new videos inspired by the 1970s classic Smokey and the Bandit. The original is one of the quintessential automotive movies of its era with a fantastic combination of slapstick comedy and great car stunts in a Pontiac Firebird Trans Am. If you've never seen it, check it out immediately.
In the new six-part Smoke IS the Bandit web series, Stewart takes on the role of Burt Reynolds' famous character complete with huge mustache. But instead of trying to smuggle cases of Coors beer it's Mobil 1 oil. The series promises to recreate many of the famous scenes from the movie and includes cameos from other NASCAR drivers.
To complete the look, future videos just need a quality replacement for a young Sally Field to ride shotgun. It would also be really cool if Reynolds could make a brief appearance at some point. Scroll down to check out the trailer and the first episode in the series.
