1979 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX

VIN:  266576X157828

MILEAGE: 5315 reading and I'm sure you can add another 100,000.

TITLE: Clear Ohio title in hand with copy of the Louisiana title.

HISTORY: Hear is all I can prove, the car lived in Louisiana, went to South Carolina for a short time and thin to Ohio in January of this year.

MY FIRM PRICE: Sorry, but I can not sell this car cheaper than $9,999.I will be asking lots more at big car shows.

PHOTOS/PICTURES: Ebay Motors make it hard to find all the pictures, I do have more pictures listed, just scroll on the right side of the pictures and you will find more.

For your consideration I have a nice 1966 Pontiac Grand Prix. This car drives good, it floats, the engine runs good, the transmission shifts good, the paint is decent, the chrome very presentable, the main things work on the car (more details below), the wheels are the cool 8 lug wheels. I think the engine is a 389, but it could be a 421, the codes are hard to find. This is a nice car, its just no 100 point show car, its not perfect, its a nice ride not a new car.

WILL I SELL OFF EBAY? Sure, I want to sell the car and I know lots of you don't have PayPal and ebay accounts.

The rest of the information is boring unless you are really interested in buying the vehicle, its just buying details like shipping, paperwork, who I am, where the car is located and how to pay and contact information.

WHO YOU ARE BUYING FROM: My name is Ron Watson and I live in the small town of Athens, TennesseeAthens is called the friendly city”. We are located in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains in east Tennessee “I am truly qualified to be called a Hill Billy”. I am 67 years old and work with my son Keith who is now 41. I am now retired and living my dream restoring, selling and improving classic cars. For 12 years I was an auto mechanics instructor at Tennessee Technology Center here in Athens. I am also a veteran of the US Army; I served as a Chinook helicopter mechanic, crew chief and instructor in the late 60s, I did spend a year in Vietnam. I’m Southern Baptist faith and proud to be an American. I’ve been married to the same good woman for 44 years. LIFE IS GOOD IN THE GREEN HILLS OF EAST TENNESSEE!

Sorry, I do not show cars on Sunday! I worship on Sunday, I spend time with my family, I'm 67 years old and need some rest. I love cars and will help you 6 days a week, but not on Sunday.

Sorry, I do not do videos. I'm old and just don't enjoy doing them.

HAS THE CAR BEEN IN A ACCIDENT? I see no signs of accident damage, the frame looks straight, the sheet metal is not wrinkled up that I see, by law the title has to state it if the car has ever been in a bad accident and it does not.

IS THERE ANY RUST PROBLEMS: I see no rust bubbles in the paint, the underside looks like all original panels, the frame is solid, the frame supports all look good to me, it has dealership applied under coating, the only places I see that could have been patched is a couple of places at the rear, I consider this a real solid car.

IS IT A MATCHING NUMBERS CAR: I think so, but do not know for sure. I really don't worry about it, just so its the correct fit engine and transmission.

ENGINE: Good running engine, no knocks, no rattles, no bad oil leaks, "I will not guarantee you it won't leave a drop of oil on you wife's nice clean floor, its just a old car". Past owner said it was a 389 cubic inch and original to the car, he was also told it was a 421, they look the same to me and I did not look for codes.

EXHAUST: Stock manifolds with good dual exhaust that's in used condition.

TRANSMISSION: Its a Turbo 400, that's a 3 speed automatic.

REAREND: Its has a good highway gearing, no whines or growls.

BRAKES: Drum brakes that are power.

STEERING: The car is power steering and drives good.

AIR CONDISTIONING AND HEAT: The heat works, the AC did not come on when I tried it, it cold here and I don't like working on AC.

LIGHTS: The headlights work, tail lights work, brake lights work, the dome light cover is missing and it does not work. We had to put a new turn signal switch on, the old one was sloppy.

GAUGES; The gas gauge works, the temp works, the oil works, the speedometer works.

WIPERS WORK! HORN IS NOT WORKING!

RADIO: original is not working.

INTERIOR: Nice interior, the seat covers are nice with no real wear, the carpet good, the headliner nice, dash pad is cracked (I have a new cover ordered that is suppose to me here tomorrow), the door panel good, the panted trim is OK, it has a few scuffs.

PAINT: Good looking paint, it shines good, no rust, not big dents, the paint has never been buffed, a good buffing would make it even better.

ELECTRIC WINDOWS:  The front windows work good, we took the door panels off and lubed all the mechanism because they were slow. The drivers side back window works, the passengers side does not.

CHROME: The chrome is in very decent condition, its not new, but its not dull. The lower trim is a little pitted, but not bent up, the bumper shine good, the front drivers back corner has a piece of chrome tape over a bad place.

HOW IS THE PANEL FIT: I think very good, the trunk is up a little due to fat new weather stripping.

TRADES: Please no trades, they never work out and are just too hard!

CONTACT INFO: my cell telephone number is 423-506-8987, I do not answer when driving, while meeting with people, after about 8:00 PM Eastern Time.  Please leave a voice mail and I’ll get back. I do check my emails several times a day.

cell 423-506-8987                                 email: dreamcar@live.com

PAPERWORK: I know what to do! We are just a father/son 2 man operation, but we are a Tennessee licensed/bonded car dealer and have sold cars all over the US and exported many.

THIS IS NOT AN AUCTION, THIS IS A FIXED PRICE LISTING: I reserve the right to stop the listing at any time and sale the car “come look”.

I RESERVE THE RIGHT TO STOP THE LISTING AT ANY TIME. THE CAR IS FOR SALE ON THE LOCAL MARKET.

WHERE THE CAR IS LOCATED: The car is here at my garage in Athens, Tennessee. Athens is in east Tennessee, we are 50 miles south of Knoxville and 50 miles north of Chattanooga. Look at a Road Atlas and follow interstate 75 south from Knoxville. I live one mile and one turn from the interstate exit. My zip code is 37303. The closest large airport is Knoxville. Athens does have a good small airport, but has no commercial flights.

Transport US OR EXPORT “I like Nations Auto Transport". They are located in Kansas City.

Contact: Jim Page his office number is 816-295-6887 and his email is jpage@shipnat.com

MY AREA CODE FOR TRANSPORT: The area code for Athens, Tennessee is 37303. I live 1 mile off a major interstate (I-75) and 35 miles south of interstate 40, so transport is usually very fast.

PAYMENT: I require a $250 deposit for a Buy Now or to hold the car.

I will take paypal for the deposit, but not for full payment.

Option 1: Pay the old school way face to face.

Option 2: Pay by check, I will wait till the check clears, I have had

a fake bank certified check.

Option 3: The safest is to let our banks handle it, my bank is a

member of the US Federal Reserve, this is called wire

transfer. And its safe for both of us.

WILL I HOLD THE CAR UNTIL YOU GET HERE TO LOOK OR HAVE IT INSPECTED? Its good business for both of us the take a deposit. A $250 deposit locks it in for you! I have held too many cars that people promise me they are going to buy and they never show up, their wife won’t let them buy it, they can’t get a loan or they just back out. Before you drive or fly a long distance you need to make sure the car is not sold. “The way I look at it is until you pay a deposit you’re just looking and dreaming”.

INSPECTIONS: Please come look and be happy. All inspections are required to be done before the end of the listing. I listed this car as I see it as a 67 year old car restorer, please come and judge it for your self. I judge the car to my standards, this may not be yours. Paid inspectors have to be very critical to cover their back sides. I understand how hard it is to buy a car without looking, but I think you should come look yourself. I don’t like paid inspectors, I like for the person that is buying to inspect for themselves. I think its fine to send a friend to inspect for you. To make it clear, don’t hit the buy now button and then inspect, come inspect first!

If you are not registered with ebay motors, I will work with you, "YOU CAN BUY DIRECT".

BOTTOM LINE: Sorry, but my firm price is $9,999 I'm asking more on the local market. The game is not rocket science, ask a price and come down. It’s not fun to bargain over the cell phone all day long with people that live 2000 miles away and are not going to buy anyway. My firm price is the Buy Now price. I have sold every car I have ever tried to, so I’m not motivated to be bargained down.

WILL BE VERY HAPPY TO SELL YOU THE VEHICLE WITH-OUT AN INSPECTION; YOU JUST HAVE TO HAVE A LOT OF NERVE AND PLEASE DON’T BE A CRY BABY.

Read the ME section on the upper right hand part of the listing marked seller info.

Thank You,

Ron Watson cell: 423-506-8987 email: dreamcar@live.com

I am very careful about taking payment, I have had a fake certified check, it looked real and the buyer seemed real. I will take one, but I will check you out. I am ebay varified, that means you can buy ebays buyer protection plan and they will guarantee thats I'm real, they will not guarantee the car.

David Hasselhoff's own KITT replica up for auction

Tue, 08 Apr 2014

Depending on when and where you grew up, the name David Hasselhoff likely conjures up images of Knight Rider, Baywatch, pop singer, or possibly a washed-up TV actor, but one thing that can never be taken away from The Hoff is his connection to one of the greatest automotive icons in pop culture. The Knight Industries Two Thousand, usually shortened to simply KITT, was the real star of Knight Rider for many fans. Based on a Pontiac Firebird Trans Am, the car combined snarky quips for comedy relief and stunts to provide much of the show's actions. Now, Julien's Auctions is selling Hasselhoff's own replica as part of a larger sale of the actor's personal memorabilia collection.
This recreation is based on a 1986 Firebird and comes with all of the tech on the inside that now seems hilariously outdated, like the yoke steering wheel and plethora of buttons. The interior also thoughtfully includes a voice box with over 4,000 sound clips from the show. With a 5.0-liter V8 and an automatic transmission, performance is likely adequate and period correct. According to the listing, this car was created by fans and given to the Hoff. Sadly, the replica doesn't convert to Super Pursuit Mode like KITT could in later seasons, and we most associate KITT with conventional front-hinged doors to go with the power t-tops and ejector seats.
Bidding currently sits $27,500 with eight bids, since starting at $15,000. Julien's predicts it will sell for between $30,000 and $50,000. If there is some nostalgia for KITT in your heart, there is still plenty of time to bid.

Lutz dishes dirt on GM in latest Autoline Detroit

Mon, 20 Jun 2011

Bob Lutz sits down for Autoline Detroit - Click above to watch video after the jump
Autoline Detroit recently played host to Bob Lutz, and, as is always the case, the former General Motors vice chairman dished out some great commentary. Lutz was promoting his new book Car Guys vs. Bean Counters: The Battle for the Soul of American Business, and talk quickly turned to his role as it related to product development and high-level decision making at GM. While on the topic of brand management, Lutz revealed a few rather interesting tidbits about his former employer:
All Chevrolet vehicles were required to have five-spoke aluminum wheels and a chrome band up front, as part of the Bowtie brand's overall image.

Wanted: 1967 Pontiac GTO for a special Father's Day

Thu, 07 Jun 2012

Jim Sharp of Elkhorn, Wisconsin needs a red 1967 Pontiac GTO to make his dad's Father's Day, possibly his last one, something extra special.
Back in the '60s, Jim's dad, Ken, drove a cherry red 1967 GTO to California for a job. He met a girl, got married and decided his wife's 1965 Ford Mustang was more fuel efficient than the Goat and the GTO was sold. As the story almost always goes, Ken has had seller's regret ever since.
Jim always meant to find a 1967 GTO and, with his dad's help, restore it. But life got in the way, time slipped by and Ken was recently diagnosed with esophageal cancer and given about three months to live.
