1965 Pontiac Grand Prix Base 6.4l V8 2 Door Coupe Rust Free With Ac! on 2040-cars
Fayetteville, North Carolina, United States
The car is Appraised well into the 20's with the minor damage repaired so its priced to move accordingly.
1965 Pontiac Grand Prix 2 Door Coupe, extremely low all original 35 thousand miles. Very powerful, smooth driving, and flawless inside. This is your opportunity to own a completely original 50 year old, rust free, purrs like a kitten, rides a demon GP COUPE!!! The mileage is 35k all original!!, all original drive train, nothing has been removed on this car it is completely original down to the air filter casing. It instantaneously cranks up with a slight turn of the key, I have never seen an un-restored vehicle run and drive like new before this one. The slight damage in the rear was done by the previous owner. The rear bumper doesn't have a scratch, dent or ding, and nothing in the rear was harmed at all, but the pressure buckled the quarter panel. I had the frame inspected, and it was not harmed or bent at all. I just have 3 muscle cars so id rather see this one go to a good home since its ready to go and only needs minor work if any at all. I had the repairs quoted and it was VERY cheap to fix, it will not require panel replacement, just bodywork on the original steel panels. The car has been inspected by 3 top bodyshops in the area, they quoted me for the repairs, and gave me estimates on the work. The frame has NO damage. It is not bent, or off in any way. Neither are the true body lines of the car, The damage is strictly aesthetic sheet metal The 3 quotes for full repair with paint were ($1660.00) ($1490.00) and ($1850.00) by shops that i have trusted to repair various muscle cars in my collection. (chevelle, Cutlass 442, 69 charger R/T) It includes all of the ORIGINAL KEYS from 1965, there are no copies, only the originals, Ignition, Valet spare, Fuel and dash/armrest keys. There is a working (and pretty nice might I add) sound system, modern cd player is hidden in the glove box, upgraded 6x9s in the rear. The interior is FLAWLESS, no fading whatsoever. I didnt use armorall or an enhancements to make things shine, just a dry cloth, the condition was just that great. There is no fading on the interior, cracking or wear! Even the wood is all original and FLAWLESS!! The carpets look flawless as well besides friction rubs from the floormats. You can truly tell that this car was rarely driven and stored in a moisture free environment, even the headliner is flawless. What you see on the headliner is the sun reflecting on the chrome valance of the back seat. There is not a mark on anything in the inside of the car at all. The original spark plugs from years ago are still installed with upgraded performance wires. It runs like a dream, I purchased spark plugs in anticipation that they would need to be replaced, but it was unneeded so you will get free new sparkplugs in the trunk as well. Also in the trunk are the rear tire skirts, the original spare tire, jack and windshield shade. The engine is a YF code original 389 V8 with 4 barrel carb and shift o matic transmission with individual tach (console), It has LOTS of power! (verified by stamp code) When at idle it is quiet as a mouse, just smooth.. but that makes total sense since it hasnt even reach manufacturers break in mileage yet. There is no frame damage at all as verified by a master body technician. It appraises at $26k repaired. The deal of a lifetime. Any questions about the car please feel free to inbox me or send your number. Deposit of $500.00 will be required within 24 hours of auctions end, no exemptions. Full payment may be remitted via Check (will wait to clear before allowing shipment), Bank Wire Transfer, or Cash. I will also accept PayPal GIFT for the full balance, and I repeat GIFT only. |

Burt Reynolds' movie re-creations fetch $379,500 in Vegas
Wed, Oct 3 2018The recent death of Hollywood legend and automotive enthusiast Burt Reynolds helped drive up the value of four of his former cars from the 1970s and '80s, which sold last weekend at Barrett-Jackson's Las Vegas auction for a combined $379,500. Reynolds, who died Sept. 6 at age 82, had offered three Pontiac Trans Ams — two of them re-creations of the cars he drove in "Smokey and the Bandit" and "Hooper" and the third from 1984 used to promote his United States Football League team, the Tampa Bay Bandits. The fourth was a 1978 Chevrolet R30 pickup truck, styled like the one featured in "Cannonball Run." The "Bandit" re-creation, a 1978 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am that Reynolds ordered to be as "movie-correct" as possible but featuring a custom-built 200-4R automatic transmission, sold for $192,500. The car features a freshly built Pontiac 400 cubic-inch V8 mated to a four-speed automatic and featuring all-new Butler Performance parts and air-conditioning components. Reynolds reportedly said this was his favorite car from his films, and it even came with an authentic movie-correct CB radio and CB antenna. The red retro-rocket "Hooper" '78 Firebird, with a 403 cubic-inch V8 and a three-speed automatic, hammered for $88,000. By comparison, a gold 1978 Trans Am also offered at the Las Vegas auction but not connected to Reynolds fetched $27,500. The 1987 Chevy R30 pickup was a re-creation of the Indy Hauler pace truck seen jumping over a moving freight train in "Cannonball Run." It hammered for $49,500. The fourth car never appeared in any of Reynolds' films but is instead the only surviving example of two Trans Ams used to promote the Tampa Bay Bandits of the now-defunct USFL, having been driven out onto the field by Reynolds and his late friend and co-star, Jerry Reed, during opening day one season. It also sold for $49,500. At the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Auction in 2016, Reynolds accompanied a 1977 Trans Am used to promote "Bandit" onto the auction block. That car sold for $550,000. Tony Stewart to star in Smoke Is The Bandit web series
Mon, 10 Mar 2014NASCAR driver Tony Stewart is making good use of his nickname Smoke in new videos inspired by the 1970s classic Smokey and the Bandit. The original is one of the quintessential automotive movies of its era with a fantastic combination of slapstick comedy and great car stunts in a Pontiac Firebird Trans Am. If you've never seen it, check it out immediately.
In the new six-part Smoke IS the Bandit web series, Stewart takes on the role of Burt Reynolds' famous character complete with huge mustache. But instead of trying to smuggle cases of Coors beer it's Mobil 1 oil. The series promises to recreate many of the famous scenes from the movie and includes cameos from other NASCAR drivers.
To complete the look, future videos just need a quality replacement for a young Sally Field to ride shotgun. It would also be really cool if Reynolds could make a brief appearance at some point. Scroll down to check out the trailer and the first episode in the series.
Junkyard Gem: 1980 Pontiac Phoenix LJ Hatchback
Sun, Jan 22 2023The car-building world was rushing headlong into front-wheel-drive by the late 1970s, eager to reap the weight-saving and space-enhancing benefits of front-drive designs. General Motors designed an innovative FWD platform to replace the embarrassingly outdated Chevrolet Nova and its siblings, and that ended up being the Chevrolet Citation. The other US-market GM car divisions (except Cadillac) got a piece of the X-Body action, and the Pontiac version was called the Phoenix. Here's one of those first-year Phoenixes, not doing a very good job of rising from its snow-covered ashes in a Colorado self-service yard. Pontiac had used the Phoenix name on a luxed-up iteration of Pontiac's version of the Chevy Nova during the 1977-1979 model years, and so it made sense to apply that name to the Pontiac-ized Citation. Phoenix production continued through the 1984 model year (the Citation managed to hang on through 1985). Just to confuse everyone, the Nova name was revived in 1985, on a NUMMI-built Toyota Corolla. The LJ trim level was the nicest one for the 1980 Phoenix, and it included lots of trim upgrades and convenience features. However, even Phoenix LJ buyers had to pay extra for a three-speed automatic transmission instead of the base four-on-the-floor manual ($337, or about $1,291 in 2022 dollars). If you wanted air conditioning, that was another $564 and you had to get the $164 power steering and the $76 power brakes with it (total cost in 2022 dollars: $3,080). Affordable cars weren't so affordable back then, not once you started adding basic options. Both generations of the Phoenix had grilles influenced by those of the Pontiacs of earlier years. The base engine was the chugging 2.5-liter Iron Duke four-cylinder, but a 2.8-liter V6 was optional. This car has the V6, rated at 115 horsepower rather than the Duke's miserable 90 horses. The price tag: 225 bucks, or 862 inflation-adjusted 2022 bucks. The Phoenix was available just as a two-door coupe and five-door hatchback. The MSRP on this car would have started at $6,127, or around $23,469 now. That would have been a pretty good deal even after paying for the options, with the Phoenix's excellent mix of good interior space and solid fuel economy… but the Citation and its kin (the Oldsmobile Omega and Buick Skylark as well as the Phoenix) suffered from seemingly endless, highly publicized recalls and quality problems.
