THERE ARE OVER 80 HUGE IMAGES OF THIS STUNNING GTO SHOWN BELOW!

DESCRIPTION:

This NO RESERVE auction is for an incredibly sharp looking 1967 PONTIAC GTO sedan. This is a three owner car that was purchased on Long Island, New York in 1967, at Montauk Pontiac in Bayshore, and it has remained there ever since. The current owner has been in possession of the car for the last 23 years. The maroon exterior and black interior are the original colors that it came with and all of the bright work is brilliant! In addition to having the original bill of sale, the full PHS documentation was purchased and is provided. We believe that the odometer indicated mileage is correct.

This 400 cubic inch 4 barrel car has a 10.75 compression ratio and it develops 335 horsepower. It was delivered with a turbohydramatic transmission with a his and hers shifter and a 3.36 rear axle. This frame off restored beauty is numbers matched down to all of the original sheet metal (some of the numbers are shown), including the trunk. The drive train is all original. The sandblasted frame and suspension parts are all POR coated along with anything else that was bare metal. The rear differential was also prepped and completely resealed. All bushings, lines, hoses, clips, new engine wiring harness, new gas tank and straps is only the beginning of what went into bringing this project back to life.

Restoration of the seats belts alone was almost $1000, without installation. The washer bottle and nozzles are new, transmission cooler lines, hard top fuel line, battery cables and choke thermostat. The original radio and speaker were restored as was the wiper motor and carburetor. Other parts such as the fuel pump and all of the ignition parts were replaced along with the entire exhaust system. New hood hinges and springs were installed, new rear view mirrors inside and out. There are pages of small parts that were purchased and changed out to make this car both fun and safe to drive as well as extra good looking. If you think we overlooked something that should have been done, chances are it was. The transmission was serviced regularly and the top end of the engine was overhauled.

The exterior and interior of this car is super straight and clean, the result of the extensive restoration project that touched on every aspect of the car. The paint job is gorgeous, accented with tasteful white pin striping. It has beautiful new wheels, beauty rings and new red line B.F. Goodrich radial tires. It recently passed New York State's Motor Vehicle Bureau rigid inspection for safety. We didn't want to bog you down with pages of useless GTO history and performance information, considering that most of the people looking at this Pontiac will know much more about it than we do.

This PONTIAC GTO performed flawlessly when driven and everything works as well as designed, or better. No squeaks, rattles or other objectionable noises at all. It fires right up and there is no smoke or other gremlins as it warms up nicely and settles into a comfortable idle. All of the instruments work, as do the lights, wipers, horn and heater. It has been converted to full power disc brakes with a full kit from Master Power. That means you can actually stop this car if you happen to get going a little too fast. The few nits that we were able to pick is a very short list indeed including only a separation of the driver's side rear seat panel vinyl pulling away from the trim (shown).

We will provide the new owner with PHS automotive services, inc. package and documetation with over 30 pages of detailed information and specifications about this particular vehicle. As with all of our eBay Motors listings we try to let our high resolution photographs tell the story about the vehicles that we are selling. All of the pictures you see were just taken and we have shots from many angles including the exterior, engine bay, full interior, trunk and undercarriage. This sedan is a magnificent looking and performing driver and the new owner will need only to get behind the wheel, fire it up, and drive away. If you study our clear multiple images very carefully, you will see exactly what this immaculate Pontiac GTO is all about.

The clear multiple high resolution images of this car, shown below, will do a much better job of describing the look, style, condition and market value of this vehicle than our words ever could. Feel confident to fly in and drive this one back home. We invite questions and comments and there is NO RESERVE on this auction!

Official USPS Muscle Cars stamps coming to a mailbox near you

Thu, 21 Feb 2013

As much as our digital lives have cut down on our trips to the post office, there are still times that sending "snail mail" is necessary. With us car lovers in mind and philately in their hearts, the good folks at the United States Postal Service will introduce a new stamp design called "Muscle Cars" starting on February 22.
Designed by artist Tom Fritz, the new collection of stamps consist of five classic muscle cars: 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona, 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS, 1967 Shelby GT-500, 1966 Pontiac GTO and 1970 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda. In addition to just the stamps, the USPS is also commemorating the new series with plenty of collectable memorabilia. Previous car-related stamps include 50s Sporty Cars from 2005 and 50s Fins and Chrome from 2008.

700 horsepower Porsche GT2 RS is the wildest 911 ever

Fri, Jun 30 2017

The Porsche 911 comes in a variety of flavors, each filling a certain taste for a certain customer. Sitting atop the range is the new 911 GT2 RS. In previous generations, the GT2 had a bit of a reputation as a widowmaker, a 911 with massive power that could snap and bite with the slightest agitation. Porsche says the new model has been civilized, but with 700 horsepower going to the rear wheels, we're sure it's going to be as mad as ever. Power comes from a highly massaged version of the 3.8-liter flat-six from the 911 Turbo S. The rear-mounted engine makes an outrageous 700 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque. Like we previously reported, the new car will use water injection to help keep things cool. The only transmission is Porsche's PDK. While enthusiasts may lament the loss of the manual, the RS models have always been about performance above all else. Simply put, the PDK is the better performance option. All that power translates to a 0-60 mph time of 2.7 seconds and a top speed of 211 mph. The engine makes 80 more horsepower than the previous model. That makes it the most powerful road-going 911 ever built. In fact, the 887 horsepower 918 Spyder is the only road-going Porsche that makes more power. The fact that Porsche trusts all of that power to go to the rear is both thrilling and terrifying at the same time. In order to manage traction, the GT2 RS gets a number of upgrades. Rear-wheel steering has become commonplace in the 911 lineup, so it's no surprise to see it here. Sticky tires with 265/35 ZR 20 section rubber at the front and 325/30 ZR 21 section rubber at the rear keep things planted. That comically large rear wing adds downforce, adding to stability. The car gets standard carbon ceramic brakes. While some people prefer traditional rotors for the street, like the PDK, this is all about performance. A number of intakes and outlets complement the rear wing and maximize aerodynamic efficiency. It's a bit of a surprise that with all the focus on downforce, the GT2 RS still manages to top out at 211 mph. The hood, front wings, wheel housing vents, door mirrors, side air intakes, parts of the rear end, and a number of interior components are all made from carbon fiber. The roof has been made of magnesium. If you want to drop any pretense of civility and comfort in the pursuit of speed, Porsche is offering a Weissach package that shaves off another 40 pounds from the already impressive wet weight of 3,241.

GM Design shows what could have been and what might be

Thu, May 27 2021

We periodically like to check in with GM Design's Instagram account to see what they're cooking up. Even better is when we catch a glimpse of an alternate history of what legendary designers from The General's past were thinking, though those ideas may not have made it into production. This week, for example, the account posted some illustrations from George Camp, whose career at GM spanned nearly four decades, from 1963 to 2001. One of the renderings is of what appears to be a 1971-72 Pontiac GTO Judge, but with two headlights instead of the production unit's quad beams. The rear departs from the canonical version most dramatically, with a massive integrated wing. Other bits that didn't make the production cut include large side vents, a gill-like side marker and rectangular intakes below the headlights that wouldn't be out of place on a modern design today. Amazingly, from what we can make out of the date, it appears that the drawing was done sometime in 1965, which makes it quite prescient.           View this post on Instagram                       A post shared by GM Design (@generalmotorsdesign) There's also a very aerodynamic interpretation of a Corvette ZR-1. To our eyes it splits the difference between the 1986 Corvette Indy concept and a fourth-generation F-body Pontiac Firebird, so perhaps parts of Camp's work on this sketch did make it into physical form. There's also a radical sports car concept from May 1970 that resembles the Mazda RX-500 concept from the same year, a Syd Mead-looking Cadillac coupe, and an Oldsmobile with a cool take on the company's trademark waterfall grille and elements of the Colonnade Cutlass at the rear. Other recent posts include a FJ Cruiser-like off-road EV, a sleek coupe with the Chevy corporate grille, and a rendering of a Silverado-esque pickup that looks far better than the current production version.           View this post on Instagram                       A post shared by GM Design (@generalmotorsdesign) It's pretty easy to lose hours in the account, but it's always fascinating to see GM's visions of what could have been and what might be.
