For the ’06 model year, the GTO is distinguished by revised taillamp styling. The taillamp background is now gloss black instead of red. Two new colors - Fusion Orange and Spice Red - offer none-too-subtle choices for customers who want their Goat to stand apart from the crowd. There is also a new 18-inch wheel design with bright spokes that further identifies the ’06 model.
As it was in the beginning, performance is at the heart of the Pontiac GTO. A 6.0-liter LS2 V-8 produces an impressive 400 horsepower (298 kw) and 400 lb.-ft. of torque (542 Nm). The Hydra-Matic 4L65-E four-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission is standard, while a six-speed Tremec T56 manual transmission is optional. The awesome powertrain is capable of propelling the GTO form 0-60 in 4.7 seconds and 13-second quarter mile times.
All that power is matched by the equally impressive stopping power from a four-wheel disc performance braking package featuring vented front rotors, solid rear rotors and bright red calipers with the GTO logo. A four-channel ABS system is standard.

I AM SELLING THIS CAR FOR MY NEPHEW, WHO BOUGHT IT WITH SOME SLIGHT FRONT DAMAGE AND HAD IT PROFESSIONALLY REPAIRED. IT HAD THE 2 FENDERS REPLACED, AND THE FACIA AND COOLING. eBay Find of the Day: 1967 Pontiac GTO Monkeemobile
Sun, 29 Apr 2012Say what you will about The Monkees, but the guys in the band had great taste in automobiles. Take the Monkeemobile, for example. Built off a 1967 Pontiac GTO Convertible, the custom featured genuinely interesting bodywork and some wild engine bolt-ons. If you're a fan of 1960s pop and yearn to relive the genre's glory days, eBay Motors may have what you need. A recreation of the 1967 Monkeemobile has showed up for auction. This particular replica was built by Dakota County Customs using an four-speed GTO, just like the original.
Built for the band's 45th anniversary and the final Monkees tour last year, this Monkeemobile is faithful down to every last detail. Unfortunately, the trumpet exhaust poking out of the front fender wells and the massive gold-flake blower are for show only. Seems fitting.

Probably a Subaru WRX, and that's what Gregg Hamilton had for a while until working on his car felt too much like his day job. So when he moved from New Zealand to the US to work for Ken Block (with a few stops along the way) he bought something entirely different. This is Gregg's 1979 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am. It's a throwback to another time, but it's anything but stock. It has that magic combination of a big V8 with a manual transmission and rear drive, just like the tin-top racers Gregg watched in his Kiwi youth. He bought it sight unseen from its previous owner in Alabama, and has been tinkering with it ever since. There's something about the flared wheel arches and the classic Firebird gold-striped black livery that has us smitten. STUDY: Ford owns brand loyalty in 2009; Scorned Saturn, Pontiac buyers will look outside of GM
Fri, 16 Oct 2009Ford buyers appear to love their cars more than customers of any other automotive brand, returning back to the American automaker when it comes time to purchase their next vehicle. According to a study by Experian Automotive, six of the top 10 vehicles for customer brand loyalty wear badges from the Blue Oval. That includes the Ford Fusion (62.4 percent), Ford Edge (57.9 percent), Ford Five Hundred/Taurus (56 percent), Ford Freestyle (51.9 percent), Ford Escape (49.4 percent) and the Ford Focus (47.57 percent).
Other vehicles making up the top 10 include the Toyota Prius (52 percent), Chevy Impala (51.7 percent), Toyota Camry (47.8 percent) and Toyota Corolla (47.56 percent). This brings up an interesting question: With the closing of automotive brands like Saturn and Pontiac, where are those buyers to turn for their next automotive purchase?
Apparently, not back to General Motors. According to Experian, Pontiac owners are most likely to look to the Ford lineup for their next car or truck and Saturn shoppers will switch to Toyota or Honda - not particularly surprising given that Saturn was meant to compete with import brands. Experian predicts that GM's overall market share will fall from 20 percent to about 17.5 percent, with most of the slack being picked up by Ford, Honda and Toyota.
