This is a very low mileage and very protected goat.  In the trunk you can see the car cover that is on this vehicle 90% of it's time.  The Tires were very recently replaced as was the battery, both victims of neglect- flat spots from sitting on the tires and battery just gave up on life after not being used (less than 1000 miles on both but within the last 6 months.)  I bought this vehicle from an officer in the military with a large collection, he decided to sell a few of his toys to pay for his children's college. the mileage in the photo was as of 4/19/2014.  as of the 21st I haven't driven it beyond my driveway but I can not commit to this photo's proclamation... chances are I will drive it two or three times to work in the following week and will accrue an additional 40-60 miles, that is whey the listing state 17,898 miles.

I found the below comments from an article by Jim Flammang at cars.com.

"Few model names evoke the muscle-car era of the 1960s and early 1970s like the GTO. Introduced as a 1964 offshoot of the Tempest, Pontiac's original GTO quickly captured the attention of youthful drivers who craved a strong V-8 and performance-oriented adds-ons in a relatively lightweight body.

Four adults can fit inside the GTO, which has 2+2 bucket seating. Black leather upholstery is standard, but hues that match the car's body are available. The GTO's color-coordinated interior extends into the door panels and instrument cluster. A six-CD changer coupled with a Blaupunkt 200-watt 10-speaker sound system, cruise control, keyless entry and a multifunction information center are standard.

The new LS2 6.0-liter V-8 generates 400 hp at 5,200 rpm and 400 pounds-feet of torque at 4,000 rpm. Two transmissions are available: a four-speed automatic or a Tremec close-ratio six-speed manual. Traction control and a limited-slip differential are included."

I will not release the vehicle until moneys have cleared.  Then and only then will I release the title, vehicle, or any other documents.  $500 is due via pay-pal withing 48hr's of auction close... this will be deducted from sale price and non-refundable, all other moneys will be due within 7 days- i'm not a bank and can not wait for special arrangements.

Junkyard Gem: 2001 Pontiac Bonneville SSEi

Sat, Jun 19 2021

The General's Pontiac Division sold Bonnevilles from 1958 through 2005, which turned out to be well over half of the marque's existence. Named after the Bonneville Salt Flats, some Bonnevilles were huge but pretty quick, others were slow-motion land yachts, and some were nearly indistinguishable from their Buick and Oldsmobile brethren. The final generation, sold for the 2000 through 2005 model years, were among the quickest and most distinctive-looking Bonnevilles ever built, but they arrived in showrooms at a time when the clock was ticking for the division's very survival. Today's Junkyard Gem is one of those cars, an '01 with the hot-rod SSEi package. The Bonneville SSEi first appeared in the 1992 model year, just a year after the Buick Park Avenue Ultra was the first of many GM cars to get the 3.8-liter Buick V6 with an Eaton supercharger bolted on top. Production of the Bonneville SSEi continued through the 2003 model year, after which the GXP version and its Cadillac Northstar V8 took over. The 2001 version of this engine made 240 horsepower, good for plenty of torque-steery fun. Could you get this car with a manual transmission? What do you think? Some cursory research indicates that 1970 was the last model year for a three-pedal Bonneville, and even those cars must be incredibly rare. This one looks to have been in nice shape when it arrived here, with the original manuals still in the glovebox. By 2006, the Bonneville was gone; four years later, Pontiac was gone. Automakers tussle over owners of 'orphan' makes

Thu, 10 May 2012

When General Motors put down several of its brands in recent years, it also let loose thousands of brand-loyal customers who will eventually need another car.
R.L. Polk Associates estimates there are more than 18 million cars from 16 discontinued makes on the road today. Those "orphan owners" have sales-hungry competitors seeing dollar signs. GM is offering Saturn owners $1,000 cash toward a Chevy Cruze, Cadillac CTS or a GMC Acadia. Ford is giving its Mercury lease customers a chance to get out of their contracts with no early-termination penalty and offering to waive six remaining payments if they drive off in a Ford or Lincoln.
Edmunds.com research shows the efforts are paying off somewhat for GM, with 39 percent of Pontiac owners, 37 percent of Hummer owners and 31 percent of Saturn owners taking delivery of another GM-branded vehicle. But that leaves as much as 69 percent of owners going elsewhere. Ford, Honda and Toyota seem to be attracting many former GM owners.

GM's got 107 problems and NHTSA's No. 1

Thu, Mar 6 2014

General Motors' problems with its recall of roughly 1.6-million vehicles continue to mount. Now that it has emerged that GM knew about the problem since at least 2004 but waited to recall vehicles until February 2014, regulators at the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration have begun a much deeper investigation. NHTSA has sent a 27-page survey to GM that includes 107 questions about the timeline of what led up to the recall, and it has until April 3 to reply. This isn't a simple, multiple-choice test. Automotive News believes that hundreds of pages could be required to answer some of the queries. NHTSA says that it is still investigating GM's response to the recall. "We are a data-driven organization, and we will take whatever action is appropriate based on where our findings lead us," said NHTSA in a statement on its website. If found liable, the automaker could face a fine as high as $35 million and even possible criminal charges, according to Bloomberg. NHTSA's questions include a detailed explanation of GM's examination process; how it will improve the process; why a planned redesign of the cars' key in 2005 wasn't implemented; and specific data on each complaint it received. According to Bloomberg, NHTSA also has records that show the company had a meeting with regulators to discuss the airbag failure in a Chevrolet Cobalt in 2007. New GM CEO Mary Barra has also hired an outside law firm to conduct an independent investigation about what happened. It will include questioning company employees who were involved with the process from the start. The recall stems from faulty ignition switches that shut off the car while driving, and if it occurs the airbags deactivate. Thirteen deaths and 23 crashes have been caused by the problem, according to Bloomberg. If you would like to peruse NHTSA's entire questionnaire for GM, it can be viewed here.
