This amazing 1970 GTO Judge Convertible-tribute Coming out of a private collection.

The 1970 Pontiac GTO Judge was one of the most potent muscle cars of the era, and surely one of the most outrageous in terms of styling. There were approximately 37 real 1970 GTO judge Convertibles with the powerful 455 built. With bright colors, stripes, and a rear wing, it gave the Judge a unique look that was backed by equally stunning performance. But with prices for real Judge convertibles running in $100,000.00’s the outstanding tributes are a great value.

The ultimate 1970 Judge Convertible color arguably is the Cardinal RED which was a Judge trademark that looks amazing on the GTO's aggressively styled ragtop bodywork. Everything is smooth and slick, with a lot of time invested in getting it all smooth and shiny, and thanks to modern paint technology, the color probably pops a lot more than it did in 1970s. Pontiac's revolutionary Endura bumper gives the front of the GTO a unique look with their traditional split grille, and when combined with chrome headlight openings and Ram Air vents on the hood, this car definitely looks aggressive.
With the special Judge graphics, rear wing out back, and quad exhaust tips it gives this Judge power and authority!

A red bucket seat interior with the “HIS/HERS” shifter console works perfectly with the cardinal red presentation.. pegging the aggression meter while still keeping the luxury and comfort for which Pontiac had become justifiably famous.

New red seat covers, door panels, along with new  carpet and carpet custom GTO logo floor mats that match the red carpet gives her the “new car look”.

The dash offers three deeply recessed instruments, but there's no tach because it is mounted out front on the hood ………the most desirable Judge option of all!

This stunning Judge Convertible has its factory installed “ice cold ” A/C!

She has the original AM/FM  push button radio in the engine-turned dash as well as a custom designed and installed multiple speaker and sub-woofer hidden in the trunk high powered surround system. The head unit and volume subwoofer control in hidden in the glove box and the power amp and sub-woofer are custom installed in the side trunk panels.

She adorns a brand new factory black power convertible top/glass rear window and has the factory boot.

Performance is effortless thanks to Pontiac's muscular 1970 455 cubic inch V8, which specializes in torque production. From the Ram Air hood scoops to the Pontiac Turquoise paint on the block, this one has been factory detailed correctly, and the condition of all the under hood components displays that the work is not only high-quality, but recently done.

Power steering and power disc brakes are included, and there's a tough TH400 3-speed automatic transmission behind the engine handling gear swaps.

The floors are nicely finished with satin black paint, not undercoating, so there's nothing to hide, and both the gas tank and exhaust system are brand new. It rolls on correct Pontiac Rally II wheels and fat fire Hawk Indy 500 radials!

Details

The restoration was completed on a rust free car and has always been kept in a  garage.  The paint is nice with a few flaws and imperfections that don’t show up in the pictures.  It does shines like a mirror.  The chrome and stainless are beautiful!

The Pontiac 455 “date coded” engine (NOM) is fresh and runs very strong.  The engine bay is highly detailed and its appearance is factory correct.  It is fitted with factory exhaust manifolds.  All new plug wires, new battery, hoses and belts have been added.   It rides on correct Pontiac Rally II rims in excellent condition with new BF Goodrich T/A radials.

The matching Red interior is new…..vinyl, carpets, door panels, sport steering wheel, etc. There are no cracks in the dash or steering wheel.  The car starts drives and handles amazing and “tracks straight as an arrow.  It is mechanically very sound and I can see no evidence of it ever being wrecked.

The correct pattern black convertible top is “brand new” and installed with the “glass rear window”.

Underneath is very nice and clean including new front disc brakes & lines, exhaust system and the new 323 posi differential.  The frame is excellent.  All the glass is very nice, all the gauges, lights, wipers, turn signals, horn all work as designed.  The panel fit on the fenders and doors is excellent.  The trunk is detailed.  The rims are in great condition and the tires are like new.

The 1970 GTO Judge Convertibles are the most sought after muscle car and in this color combination and the quality of the restoration, represents an excellent value for the asking price.  I encourage you to come see it and test drive this car or just call me for a phone walk around.

Junkyard Gem: 2006 Pontiac Solstice

Wed, Sep 4 2019

The debut of the Pontiac Solstice, back in 2005 for the 2006 model year, stirred up much excitement in the automotive world. Sales were brisk at first, and then they weren't so great… and then Pontiac itself went under The General's cost-cutting axe. One thing I have learned during my junkyard travels is that even sought-after sports cars eventually reach a point at which they start showing up in the big self-service junkyards. For example, the BMW Z3 began appearing in such yards about five years ago, along with the Audi TT. While the Honda S2000 still appears to be exempt from this process, today's Junkyard Gem shows that the time has now come for the Pontiac Solstice/Saturn Sky. The first Z3s and TTs I saw in the U-Wrench-type yards were crash victims, not worth fixing, and that's the case with this Solstice. In a few more years, I'll start seeing the occasional Solstice/Sky discarded due to general worn-outness. Someone grabbed all the undented front body parts and the transmission (these items, presumably, being valuable), but no junkyard shoppers have felt like pulling the non-turbo 2.0-liter Ecotec. The interior seems dirty, probably from exposure to the elements while sitting outdoors in this Colorado Springs wrecking yard, but not in bad shape otherwise. Perhaps the car's owner celebrated a return from Iraq with the purchase of a sporty new Pontiac, 13 years ago. These cars have an enthusiastic following, so I wasn't expecting to see a junked one so soon after production ceased. I felt the same way about the Chrysler Crossfire, however, and I found two of those last year. What's next, a 2002-2005 Thunderbird? This content is hosted by a third party. Sci-fi movie Jinn features car designer, Firebird-bodied Camaro

Tue, 08 Apr 2014

If you're an automotive engineer being tormented by an immortal being made of fire, then wouldn't you think it best to have a custom coupe called the FireBreather for your getaway car? That's the FireBreather in the image above, adorned by the red wings that once fronted the Pontiac Firebird, running away from a black cloud of evil in a trailer for the movie Jinn.
The Jinn is eternal evil, always waiting for the chance to make things float across rooms before going on homicidal urban rampages. The FireBreather is a Gen-V Chevrolet Camaro - from the V6 to the ZL1 - that's been through Classic Design Concepts' extensive list of exterior and interior modifications, including entirely new front and rear fascias and side skirts, sway bars and springs, Pirelli P Zeroes and an available Edelbrock supercharger.
The movie - FireBreathing chase scenes and all - was shot in Monroe, Michigan. You can watch the trailer below, but since the FireBreather only get a couple of seconds on screen, you can find out more about it on Street Legal TV and its official site.

Motorweek looks back at the Pontiac Aztek

Thu, Jul 9 2015

The Pontiac Aztek has earned a position as this generation's ultimate, automotive punchline. Even other execrable models like the Yugo or Mustang II probably get more respect these days just out of their sheer quirkiness, but the Aztek remains a joke. Fortify your mind for what's coming, though, because the much-maligned Pontiac might not be quite so atrocious, at least according to MotorWeek's latest Retro Review video. MotorWeek calls the Aztek, "GM's first true crossover vehicle," and it's amazing to think of the hated model as a progenitor of one of the most popular segments today. While admitting that the looks are polarizing, John Davis and company actually come away pleased with the Aztek's utility. They praise that there's a ton of room in the back, and the interior is packed with useful features like a removable cooler in the center console and radio controls in a cargo area. The show is even impressed with how the Pontiac drives and throws around accolades like "nimble" and "pleasant." After seeing the Aztek leading the pack on lists of the worst vehicles of all time for years, listening to it get such effusive praise is actually quite jarring. Could we all be so wrong? No, there's absolutely no debate that this is still a hideous automobile. However, MotorWeek asserts a complete reversal of the generally perceived wisdom about the early CUV. While unexpected, thinking about such an abhorred model in a different way is a cool experience. Check out the video for a different take on the Aztek.
