My son and I found this GTO in a barn on a farm outside of Amarillo, TX about 7 years ago. The car was up on
blocks and didn't have anything but surface rust, was all original, and had numbers matching. We started restoring
the car shortly after, but then my son left for the Air Force for 6 years. The car sat in a garage under cover
until he got back. By that time, he had lost interest in it, and I was left finishing it. It's taken a lot of
man-hours and money for parts, but the outcome is well worth it. The car drives extremely smooth and strong.
We did a frame-off restoration, and the frame was blasted and checked for any damage or rust. Then it was
prepped and shot with industrial enamel. The underside of the body was undercoated. Everything from there was
replaced new or refurbished. Nothing on the car from bumper to bumper was left untouched, and no expense was
spared. The car has ice-cold air conditioning, power brakes, power steering, and TACH in hood, with less than 20
miles put on the car since we bought it.

Aficionauto sits down with The Hoff and KITT
Fri, 10 Oct 2014The latest video from The Aficionauto is the perfect palate cleanser for Knight Rider fans after finding out that Justin Bieber is the voice of KITT in an upcoming film. Host Christopher Rutkowski says that the Knight Industries Two Thousand is one of the most requested vehicles to appear on the series and for good reason - Michael Knight's Pontiac Trans-Am is among the most famous cars to ever appear on television.
While the video isn't able to showcase one of the original KITTs from the series, it does get star David Hasselhoff to drive his personal replica and talk about the lasting legacy of the show. The highlight here might be seeing The Hoff back behind the wheel in the open desert basically recreating Knight Rider's opening sequence.
With all of its flashing lights and gizmos, you can probably make the argument that KITT is pretty cheesy, and the show itself was never exactly a pillar of high-quality drama on television. Despite that, the series still provides a ton of good-natured fun, and The Hoff's continued enthusiasm for it is pretty infectious. The Poncho is dead. Long live the Poncho. Like certain other reoccurring personal maladies, the aftermarket community simply can't let the Trans Am go without another flare up. The guys at Trans Am Depot have worked up a quick commercial for their newest creation: The 2013 Trans Am Hurst Edition, and it watches pretty much like you'd expect it to. The footage is comprised of just about every TA male fantasy you can conceive of, from Daisy Dukes and white tank tops to tramp stamps, bikinis and ice cream cones. There simply aren't words for what you'll see below.
Of course, we like our T-Tops as much as the next guy. If you like what you see in the videos, you can pick up your very own TA by heading over to the Trans Am Depot site. The guys even have Chevrolet Camaro-based versions of the Pontiac GTO if the '77 TA treatment is too much for your tastes. Enjoy, but don't say we didn't warn you.
1939 Pontiac Ghost Car commands $308,000 at auction
Mon, 01 Aug 2011For the 1939 World's Fair, Pontiac built a Deluxe Six bodied in Plexiglass. Part of the Previews of Progress pavilion in which General Motors' Futurama showed off what was to come in the world of autos, the 'invisible' Pontiac is credited as the first transparent car in America. And there were no shortcuts taken with its body: the Plexiglass form was fabricated by the company that brought the material to market in 1933, Rohm & Haas.
The see-through sedan was sold at RM Auctions' St. John's auction in Michigan on July 30, fetching $308,000. Not bad appreciation for a domestic oddity that cost $25,000 to build when new.
