SELLING MY 1969 GTO THAT I'VE OWNED APPROXIMATELY 5 YEARS DUE TO RECENTLY ACQUIRING A 1969 CAMARO.
THIS IS A TRUE 69 GTO WITH THE 242 VIN CODE WHICH ELIMINATES ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT CLONING OR AUTHENTICITY. THE ENGINE CASTING NUMBER IS 9790079 AND THE TURBO HYDRAMATIC TRANSMISSION IS xxxxxx THIS IS A NONE MATCHING NUMBERS CAR. I AM 55 AND HAVE OWNED 3 GTO'S IN MY LIFETIME AND I ALWAYS THOUGHT CAROUSEL RED WAS THE ELITE COLOR FOR THEM BUT I QUICKLY CHANGED MY MIND AFTER SEEING IT IN BLACK SPECIALLY WITH HIDEAWAY LIGHTS.THE AGGRESSIVE NATURE OF THIS CAR IN BLACK IS SECOND TO NONE. IT HAS THE HURST DUAL GATE SHIFTER, FRONT FACTORY DISC BRAKES, PWR STEERING. IT LEFT THE FACTORY AS A CENTER CONSOLE CAR WITH HIDEAWAY LIGHTS AND AIR CONDITION(no a/c now)I do have some of the parts for it. PHS DOCUMENTS ARE INCLUDED IN THE PICTURES. CLEAR FLORIDA TITLE ON MY NAME. THE PREVIOUS OWNER HAD A LOCAL BODY SHOP START THE RESTORATION BUT RUN OUT OF MONEY IN THE PROCESS AND SOLD THE CAR TO ME. I HAD THE CAR SANDED DOWN TO EXPOSE ALL WORK DONE AND POTENTIAL PROBLEMS WITH THE BODY, THE SHOP HAD DONE SOME REPAIRS TO THE TRUNK PAN AND A COUPLE OF SMALL REPAIRS ON THE FLOOR PAN THAT LOOKED SATISFACTORY TO ME SO I DECIDED THAT IT LOOKED GOOD ENOUGH AND AVOIDED ANY ADDITIONAL CUTTING OF THE FLOOR AND TRUNK, THE FENDERS, ENDURA BUMPER, HOOD, DOORS, TRUNK AND UPPER QUARTERS ARE ALL ORIGINAL AND IN GREAT SHAPE, THE LOWER QUARTER PANELS WHERE REPLACED WITH THE CORRECT PATCH PANEL AND BUTT WELDED.. THE COMPLETE CAR WAS TREATED WITH EPOXY PRIMER BEFORE THE 2K PRIMER WAS APPLIED AND THAN A SEALER WAS USED BEFORE THE MATRIX BASECOAT AND MATRIX AUTOGLAS AG40 HIGH SOLIDS CLEARCOAT(4 COATS), WETSANDED AND BUFFED.THE PAINT WAS FINISHED IN FEBRUARY OF THIS YEAR.I WILL INCLUDE SOME PICTURES OF THE CAR IN EPOXY AND 2K PRIMER AND THE GREAT CONDITION OF THE TRUNK RAILING ETC. THE CAR HAS TORQUE THRUST 15' WHEELS WITH BFGOODRICH TIRES ALL AROUND IT. NEW EMBLEMS ALL AROUND. NEW MARKER LIGHTS NEW WINDOW REGULATOR(PASSENGER) NEW DOOR STRIKER. NEW QUARTER WINDOW MOULDING. NEW WINDSHIELD. NEW WINDSHIELD MOULDING. NEW WIPER ARMS AND BLADES. NEW COWL GRILL. NEW HOOD CHROME TRIM. NEW WEATHER STRIP. NEW DOOR FUZZIES. NEW HEADLINER. NEW DASH. NEW CARPET, NEW PACKAGE TRAY. NEW SEAT COVERS. NEW PIONEER RADIO. NEW SPEAKERS. NEW CONSOLE HURST DUAL GATE CHROME PLATE. NEW SILL PLATE NEW DOOR HANDLES. NEW DOOR PANELS. NEW ARMREST. NEW CHROME GTO DOOR EMBLEMS(NOT INSTALLED) NEW HEI DISTRIBUTOR, NEW SWAY BAY BUSHINGS AND NEW ENDLINKS. THE FOLLOWING ARE SMALL THINGS I NEVER GOT AROUND TO DOING; THE SPEEDOMETER IS NOT WORKING. THE GAS GAUGE IS NOT WORKING-THE WIRE CONNECTION IN THE TRUNK WAS CUT, WILL NEED TO LOWER THE TANK AND SPLICE A PIECE OF WIRE AND IT WOULD BE A GOOD IDEA TO REPLACE THE SENDER UNIT AT THAT TIME. THE DASH LIGHTS ARE DIMMED, I THINK NEW BULBS OR PERHAPS ADDING A GOOD GROUND SHOULD TAKE CARE OF IT AND IT COULD POSSIBLY BE DONE FROM BENEATH WITHOUT HAVING TO REMOVE THE DASH. THE GLOVE BOX DOOR IS MISSING THE KEY LOCK. THE DASH CLOCK IS NOT WORKING. THE HEADLINER IS NEW BUT THE SMALL SAIL PANELS ARE USED. THE CORRECT SET IS SOLD BY NATIONAL PARTS DEPOT FOR $54 FOR THE SET BUT IT TAKES ABOUT 5-8 WEEKS TO GET. THE CAR STARTS RIGHT UP, I HAVE ONLY PUT A COUPLE HUNDRED MILES SINCE THE RESTORATION, SO IT NEEDS TO BE USED, I DO START THE ENGINE EVERY MONTH, I HAVE KEPT GOOD GAS IN IT AND IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN GARAGED, IT HAS NOT SEEN RAIN. PLEASE ASK ANY QUESTIONS AND REQUEST ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION, YOU CAN ALSO PROVIDE YOUR PHONE NUMBER IF YOU WANT ME TO CALL YOU. THERE ARE NO GUARANTEES OR WARRANTIES AND THE CAR IS SOLD AS IS, THE BUYER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR VERIFYING ALL INFORMATION LISTED HERE, ALL SALES ARE FINAL. A $1000 NON REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT IS REQUIRED 24 HRS AFTER AUCTION ENDS AND THE BALANCE IS DUE WITHIN TWO WEEKS. THE CAR IS AVAILABLE FOR INSPECTION ONLY BEFORE AUCTION ENDS. I WILL BE SELLING IT AT A REASONABLE BUY NOW PRICE AND BEST OFFERS WILL BE CONSIDERED. BUYER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR SHIPPING BUT I WILL DO WHAT I CAN TO ASSIST. New Forza 6 car pack will let you race the Pontiac Aztek
Fri, Jan 29 2016Just in time for this weekend's Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona, the new Alpinestars Car Pack for Forza Motorsport 6 on the Xbox One lets you slip into the driver's seat of last year's winner. If you want to take something much weirder for a spin, the collection also includes a 2005 Pontiac Aztek. The download is available now for $6.99. The Ford #02 Chip Ganassi Racing Riley Mk XXVI Daytona was in a four-car battle early in last year's race, but it eventually was victorious. Forza Motorsport 6 also challenges drivers who download the car to a new Rivals event around Daytona, and the fastest people could win Alpinestars prizes. If you're nostalgic for a classic Daytona racecar, this pack includes Mercury #15 Whistler Radar Cougar XR-7. The V8-powered beast won the IMSA GTO class in the 24-hour event in 1990. It should be fun around the game's longer road courses like Road Atlanta. This collection also has an eclectic mix of vehicles that aren't racecars. The controversial Aztek and the equally-controversial 1996 Subaru SVX take their places beside a lineup that offers drivers three eras of performance cars – a 1967 Sunbeam Tiger, 1974 Toyota Corolla SR5, and 1992 Alfa Romeo Milano Quadrifoglio Verde. The video below shows all of them in action. Race to the Finish Line with the Alpinestars Car Pack for Forza Motorsport 6 By Xbox Wire Staff posted on January 27, 2016 at 8:00 am With the racing season set to kick into full gear during this weekend's Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona race, Forza fans now have a chance to get their own taste of endurance racing glory with the Alpinestars Car Pack for Forza Motorsport 6, available on Thursday, Jan. 28. Leading off the pack of seven cars is last year's 24 Hours of Daytona winner, the 2015 Ford #02 Chip Ganassi Racing Riley Mk XXVI Daytona Prototype. The prototype will be fielded in this weekend's race, which begins at 2 p.m. EST on Saturday, Jan. 30 and can be viewed live on Fox Sports 1 in the U.S. The Alpinestars Car Pack features six additional cars, each with a unique pedigree all its own. From the 1990 Mercury #15 Whistler Radar Cougar XR-7 – also a competitor in Daytona 24 Hour events of years past – to the inimitable 2005 Pontiac Aztek (famous more for its fictional owner than its performance), this pack has something for every kind of car fan. Forza Motorsport 6 is the only game where players can drive last year's Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona winner on the recently remodeled Daytona International Speedway.
Junkyard Gem: 2001 Pontiac Aztek
Tue, Jul 11 2017Ah, the Pontiac Aztek. Everyone laughs at the Aztek ... except, apparently, for Coloradans who like to go camping, bike riding, hiking, and all that outdoorsy stuff that folks do in the Centennial State. You'll see Azteks being driven, unironically and without shame, all over the place in the Denver region, and now plenty of them are showing up in the local wrecking yards. Here's a first-year-of-production example in its final campground. These minivans or crossovers (or however the experts finally decided to categorize them) had built-in air compressors, audio controls in the rear cargo area, and other features meant to enhance tailgating, camping, and other activities deemed central to Generation X's allegedly active lifestyle. You could even get an optional camping kit with a tent that attached to the rear of the Aztek. So, it was a General Motors minivan-like vehicle, cousin of the weird-looking Dustbusters of the 1990s, with lots of useful features for those who did more than just commute to work and drop off kids at school. Unfortunately for GM, the Aztek was staggeringly ugly, and Generation Xers were too damned broke to buy new cars in 2001, anyway. I see plenty of them in Denver-area wrecking yards now, along with their slightly-less-offensive-looking Buick Rendezvous siblings, and so I decided to document one before they're all gone. Junkyard Gem: 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP
Sun, Nov 28 2021John DeLorean began his career working on Packard's Ultramatic Twin transmission, but he made his greatest mark on the automotive industry during his 1956-1969 tenure at GM's Pontiac Division. There, he helped develop the first production car engine with a quiet timing belt instead of a noisy chain, among other engineering feats, but his real fame came from the development of two money-printing models based more on marketing than machinery: the GTO and the Grand Prix. While the GTO gets all the attention now, the Grand Prix set the standard for the big-selling personal luxury coupes that sold like mad for decades to come. Today's Junkyard Gem is an example of the most powerful Grand Prix available at the turn of the century, found in a Denver-area self-service yard during the summer. The Grand Prix got front-wheel-drive for 1988 and a sedan version for 1990, but then something very beneficial happened in the 1997 model year: supercharging! Various flavors of the venerable 3.8-liter Buick V6 engine (itself based on the early-1960s Buick 215 V8 and thus cousin to the Rover V8) received Eaton blowers, starting in the 1992 model year. The Grand Prix didn't get its introduction to forced induction until the 1997 model year, but it kept the boosted option until the final Grand Prix rolled off the line in 2008 (the final Pontiac followed within a couple of years). This one made 240 horsepower, making it King of Grand Prix engines until the 2005 model year (when the GXP and its 303-horse V8 engine showed up). The very last year for a Grand Prix with a manual transmission was 1993 (there had been a three-pedal Grand Prix drought from 1973 through 1988, just to put things in perspective), so this car has the mandatory four-speed automatic. The Grand Prix lived on GM's W platform for its last two decades, making it sibling to the Impala, Regal, and Intrigue in 2001. Until the 2004 model year, every W-Body Grand Prix was built at Fairfax Assembly in Kansas City (no, the other Kansas City). Production of the final generation of Grand Prix took place in Ontario. It seems fitting that this car's final pre-crusher parking spot would be between two other GM products of the same era: a Monte Carlo and a Vibe.
